    • Works great, but poor design.
Works great, but is wide on both sides. The other planers I have is wide on one side and the other side the blade is close to the edge so you can get within 1/2” of a corner. This one yo Lu are unable to get the blade close to an inside corner. Only an issue with some projects but requires the use of another tool to make it happen. ... show more

I was very impressed with this item. It lasts awhile when you use one of the bigger batteries. It has plenty of power too. At this price vs the other brands it's tough to beat

    • powerful, but it's got problems
Pretty typical electric hand planer design. Surprisingly, packs the power to make fairly deep cuts, though I try to avoid that as it chews right through batteries. Which is my first complaint. This tool would really benefit from being 36V with a brushless motor. 36V would be less harmful to the battery and also allow use of Metabo HPT's 36V AC adapter. Alas that is not the case. Another complaint is that the front and back shoes are not parallel which makes it out of the box good only for rough work. Spending a bit too much of my time, I was eventually able to get the shoes parallel using shims, but I don't see why they can't sort that out in the factory during production. My last complaint is that it doesn't include a dust collection adapter. They apparently sell one separately, but that's ridiculous. I'm really torn on this. I'm a devoted Metabo HPT user, but I really think this could be a better tool in so many ways. It's not awful, but I can't say I recommend it either. ... show more
