  • I didn’t think I’d love smart glasses, but I definitely see the appeal now!
Color: Havana / Gradient Brown Lens Type: Standard
My initial impression of these Ray-Ban Meta glasses is really good! The packaging is simple but nicely done. The box has a rip strip to open it, and inside is the case with the glasses and protective covers on the arms that you remove before wearing them. Everything feels well packaged without a bunch of unnecessary extras. Setup was surprisingly easy. When I first put them on, they announced the battery level, and then I connected them to my iPhone through the Meta app. I can’t speak for the Android setup, but with Apple it was extremely straightforward. The app walks you through everything step by step, including how to use the different controls, which I really appreciated. The technology is honestly pretty impressive. You can ask Meta AI questions about things you’re looking at, and it gives you information about what’s around you. The picture and video quality is also really nice! Videos are recorded as clips, but you can combine clips into a longer video, which is a neat feature. I can definitely see myself using these for vacations and everyday moments when I don’t necessarily want to pull out my phone. Another feature I really like is being able to listen to music while still hearing what’s happening around me. You aren’t completely tuned out from conversations or your surroundings. The touch controls are also very simple once you’ve gone through the setup tutorial. As far as the actual glasses, they feel sturdy and well made. Several people have commented that they wouldn’t even realize these were AI glasses because the technology is incorporated so nicely into the design. They really do look and feel like a quality pair of Ray-Bans. My biggest hesitation is honestly just the cat-eye shape. I’m still not completely sure how I feel about that particular style on my face, but that’s obviously personal preference and not a reflection of the glasses themselves. I love the color on them though. The other thing I wish is that these had transition lenses. They do sell a version with those for a little more money, and after trying these, I would actually recommend spending the extra for that option. The lenses on mine aren’t overly dark, so I could get away with wearing them indoors if I wanted to use the features, but transitions would make them so much more versatile. My husband has wanted a pair of these for a while, and I always thought they were kind of unnecessary. Now that I’ve actually used them, I completely understand why he wanted them! They’re much more useful and fun than I expected. These are still my initial impressions, so I can’t speak to long-term battery life or durability yet, but so far I’m impressed with the technology, how easy everything is to use, and the overall quality. I just wish I’d gone with transition lenses! They genuinely have me excited to use — especially that they translate and will come in handy when we go to Europe soon. ... show more

  • Expand your world hands-free
Color: Havana / Gradient Brown Lens Type: Standard
I already own and use the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses so I’m familiar with their benefits and how to use them. My issue with the MRB Displays, though, is that they’re a bit too large for my face, they don’t last very long on a charge and they are so heavy that they tend to slide down my nose frequently. I do appreciate the in-lens display and the Neural Band is a cool way to control them as long as your wrist doesn’t get too sweaty or wet. I thought I’d give the non-Display version a try and these Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 glasses have an attractive frame. While I miss the visual display in the right lens of the Display version, these Gen 3 Ray-Ban Meta glasses really do have a nice balance of features, size, weight and battery life over the Display version. I have the Zena variety in the Havana colorway with the gradient brown sunglass lenses. By the way, these Havana frames have a translucency to them so you can the internal electronics in the sides which I find really cool. If you’re upgrading from the Gen 1 or Gen 2, these Gen 3 have more than double the battery life of the Gen 1 and an extra hour improvement over the Gen 2. The photo and video feature is about the same as the Gen 2 but is significantly better than the Gen 1. Also, these Gen 3 have an extra microphone for better voice calls, video recording and AI use. Otherwise, these are generally the same stuff - just more and better. For comparison with the Display glasses, these Gen 3 glasses are much smaller on my face and are 20g lighter with double the battery life. The case is a classic Ray-Ban style with an internal battery to recharge the glasses at home or on the go but you have to plug it in via USB-C. It would have been nice by now to have wireless charging for the case so you could just drop it on a pad, but maybe that’ll be in Gen 4? If you’re considering these as your first pair of AI glasses, beware of the current societal backlash with wearing glasses with cameras built-in like these. If you’re really worried about that, Meta has an audio-only version of their AI glasses that skips the problem altogether by eliminating the cameras. Note that if you opt for prescription lenses so you can wear these as your regular glasses, you may be required to remove them in certain public spaces so you might need to carry a spare pair of “regular” prescription glasses just in case. Even if you don’t use the camera for taking photos or videos, it’s still really useful for translating or identifying things that you see. Just look at something and ask questions about it. Or look at a sign or a menu in a foreign language to translate it for you. The camera and recording light are smaller in these glasses than prior versions but just as clear. These glasses are purely sunglasses since the lenses that came with them are a gradient brown. Regardless of which glasses you choose (except for the Display version), you can easily pop out the lenses for your choice of clear, transitions, different color sunglasses or your prescription. Overall, my favorite features are listening to music with the open-ear speakers and taking phone calls hands-free. The Muse AI is actually very helpful and fun to talk to for asking about what I’m looking at or just answering questions in general. As long as you’re prepared for any potential complaints from wearing glasses with cameras built-in while out in public, these AI Glasses will expand your world hands-free. ... show more

  • Very nice stylish and comfortable
Color: Havana / Gradient Brown Lens Type: Standard
I love them. I was skeptical on how this would work for me but honestly, if you’re on social media a lot like I am and I’d post videos and stuff. This makes us so much easier. I go outside all the time. It’s easier to capture things so let’s say you see something and you can’t get your phone out in time your glasses you just say hey Meta and Meta start to video or takes photos for you. You don’t have much to worry about with set up. It’s super easy it connects to your cell phone it is really easy to set these up and the battery life is decent. I would say eight hours, but I haven’t gone that long with them but the case which is the eyeglass case charges them as well so you don’t have to worry about it the sleek design I like it’s very stylish. I like the fact that the Ray-Ban and they have a nice color lens so that your eyes are protected yet they’re not too dark where you can still see it’s comfortable on around my ears. It’s clear to hear what the AI says. She does speak a little fast. It could be a sheer he but it does speak a little fast. It takes to get used to feeling, but that’s not a big deal and you could listen to music whatever’s downloaded from your phone overall I’m very happy with this. I was a little worried that it wasn’t gonna connect or there might be issues, but it worked perfectly and right away. I could take really good photos and videos of my surroundings and this will help me a lot with my social media post doing eye view videos and showing what I’m seeing so like if you’re seeing it that’s what they’re gonna see what you’re seeing out of your eyes because they’re seeing it from your eye view which is really cool and I won’t get to miss out on taking photos or videos of things when they happen cause sometimes you just can’t get your phone out in time to get that image or that footage before it’s gone ... show more

  • Excellent Camera and Audio, but the Software Still Has Some Catching Up to Do
Color: Havana / Gradient Brown Lens Type: Standard
These are my wife's Meta Ray-Ban Zena glasses in Havana with Gradient Brown lenses, and we both use smart glasses regularly. The camera is genuinely impressive, producing high-quality photos and videos without needing to pull out a phone. That's easily one of the biggest reasons we enjoy having them, especially when traveling. The open-ear speakers are another pleasant surprise. Audio quality is almost as good as wearing actual earbuds, which is impressive considering there's nothing sitting inside your ears. It's nice being able to listen to something while still hearing what's happening around you. Fit is a different story. These are very tight out of the box, although that seems pretty typical for Meta glasses. I had the same problem with my Oakley Meta HSTNs and ended up stretching them over an object slightly larger than my head for a couple of days. I expect we'll need to do something similar with these. Battery life, thankfully, has been solid. We get several wears between charges, and having a charging case with its own battery is incredibly convenient. The Meta AI features are where things still feel unfinished. Some of the functionality is interesting, but much of it feels gimmicky right now. We're probably a few software updates away from these being genuinely useful as AI assistants. The integration with iOS also isn't nearly as native or seamless as we'd hoped. There's also the social side of wearing camera-equipped glasses. It's becoming increasingly awkward in public, especially with apps available that can detect their Bluetooth signals. We mostly use ours on vacations or when grabbing a phone would be inconvenient. I've attached photos of the glasses and packaging. Four stars because the camera, audio, and battery are excellent, but the software and everyday practicality still have room to improve. ... show more

  • Same great experience in a different style
Color: Shiny Black / Grey Lens Type: Standard
I feel pretty much the same about these as I do the other Gen 3 Meta Ray-Bans I have used. I absolutely love being able to capture photos and videos hands-free, especially when I am playing with my kids. That is still the biggest selling point for me. Some of the best little memories happen when nobody is posing or waiting for you to pull out a phone. With these, I can just stay in the moment and record what I am actually seeing while still interacting with them normally. I already own the Gen 2 Wayfarers and that is what originally got me hooked on Meta Ray-Bans. The Gen 3 experience feels more refined, and the camera, audio, and AI features all make the glasses more useful day to day. The Zena style is another reason I like these. Ray-Ban does a good job making them look like normal stylish sunglasses first and smart glasses second, which matters to me because I do not want something that looks like a gadget on my face. If you already like the idea of camera and AI glasses, these are another really good option. Great for everyday use, great for capturing family moments, and still stylish enough that I would wear them even without all the tech built in. ... show more

  • Excellent Quality, Even If I'm Still Figuring Out When to Wear Them
Color: Shiny Black / Grey Lens Type: Standard
The picture and video quality on these glasses is great, better than I expected from a camera tucked into the corner of a frame. It's so cool being able to snap a photo with the press of a button instead of fumbling to get my phone out and missing the moment entirely. The sound quality for playing music is also surprisingly decent. I went in assuming the speakers would be a gimmick, and they're genuinely enjoyable to listen to. I'm honestly not sure how often I'll actually wear them, which has more to do with my habits than the product. They're clearly excellent quality, and everything I've tried on them works the way it should. Now I just have to remember to put them on before something photo-worthy happens. ... show more

  • You cant miss something you never experienced---then these came along
Color: Shiny Black / Grey Lens Type: Standard
The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) Wayfarer, Zena, and Aviator AI Glasses share the same core Gen 3 internal tech—including a 12MP ultrawide 3K camera with a 36% smaller lens opening, 9-hour battery life, six-microphone noise-reduction array, and customizable action button—all starting at $449. The key difference lies in the frame design. I have all three, and each performed the same. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Fun, different, and Useful These are my first Ai glasses, and I have to say these smart glasses are something else entirely. They are fun, fundamentally different than any other technology I have used (then again, maybe not; my 2026 Lexus’ bells and whistles are nothing to sneeze at), and far more interesting than I expected. Now when I am walking my dog and something comes to mind, instead of stopping and physically accessing my phone I just ask out loud and an AI voice answer. Previously I relied on Bixby, but Meta is far better. This is one of those things you have to experience to really understand and appreciate. SETUP AND PAIRING Setup was surprisingly easy. The Meta AI app walked me through the entire process step by step. Note, when I received these my son said, “Dad, this won’t work for you because the box says “Made for iPhone,” and you have android. He was correct and also wrong. Yes, the box says that, but when I checked Google and Alexa, both said the glasses were also android compatible-and it is. I connected the glasses to my Samsung S20 FE 5G, which is 5 years old. It paired and has worked flawlessly. The glasses come with written instructions, one of which is a QR code to download the Meta AI app; you will need it to access the AI features and manage the glasses. There are quite a few settings and options to explore. On the initial set up I skipped a lot of stuff, just so I could test basic functionality. I recommend doing this, and then going back later to customize and really consider the levels of permission; and there are a lot, that you want to give. It took me about an hour to finalize my set up. Before using these in sensitive settings, review the app's permissions and Meta's current privacy policies. Be considerate of other people's privacy, and follow applicable rules and laws about recording in public or private spaces. Also, the light on the front of the glasses, which you can’t cover for the glasses to record, blinks when the glasses are recording. WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO Initially I started by saying, “Hey Meta” to ask a question or give a voice command. You can also use the physical controls on the glasses for functions such as taking pictures and adjusting the volume. Not sure if this is scary but sometimes, I just ask a question without first using the wake-up phrased, “Hey Meta”, and I get a reply. I’m not sure if it’s in a passive or stand-by mode. The assistant responded to every general question I asked; for example: • “Hey Meta, what street am I on right now?” It told me the street name. • “Hey Meta, what does this sign say?” It first asked permission to take a picture, took the picture, and then read every line on the sign back to me • “Hey Meta, what type of grass is this?” It correctly identified it as St. Augustine. • “Hey Meta, will it rain?” It told me the rain forecast for my location • “Hey Meta, tell me a joke?” It told a joke. I also asked for stories about vampires, aliens, etc., which it told. The ability to ask questions about what I was looking at, at that moment is one of the coolest features. Translation was also interesting when I encountered something written in another language. When interacting with the Ai you have the option of three voice variations. Aria-female; Helio-male; and Deepika-another female with an Indian dialect. DESIGN, FIT, AND COMFORT The Zena styling is attractive and timeless. These look like Ray-Ban sunglasses rather than a bulky piece of electronic equipment, which is a significant advantage. The temples are a little thicker than those of ordinary sunglasses, but the technology doesn't make them feel dramatically different in everyday use. The glasses are surprisingly lightweight, although your perception may differ than mine; Ive been wearing glasses for over 30+ years, so use to them. The fit is somewhat oversized compared to the frames I typically get. There is room around the temples, but I notice some tightness behind my ears. The nose bridge has a rubber-like section that provides more grip than the surrounding frame, however, I find myself pushing the frame back up the bridge of my nose. With regular glasses you just put the piece that curves behind the ear in hot water for a few minutes, and bend them for a tighter fit. Not sure if these can be adjusted the same way. I wear prescription lenses, and some Ray Ban smart glasses give you the option of changing the regular lens to corrective lenses. I need to check if these are that type. CAMERA AND HANDS-FREE PHOTOGRAPHY Being able to take pictures and videos without reaching for my phone is a genuine advantage. I simply used a command to take a picture or start recording. I reviewed a 3-minute clip of my walk and was astounded by the clarity and detail of the image and sound. The point of view was congruent to where my eyes looking at the time. The mic on these glasses is also very good and easily captured my breathing while screening out background traffic. This video capture capability will be useful to me in the future. I travel a lot and can use the feature to record my surrounding. I Also cycle a lot and in addition to recording my trips, it can also document things like accidents. There are limitations, though. There is no conventional zoom that lets you magnify a distant subject on demand. You also need to be aware of the camera's framing and timing. Even when someone knows you're taking a picture, getting the moment you want can take a little practice. The photos and videos transferred to my phone through the app, and the image and video quality are impressive. I opted to save to my phone’s SD card instead of the meta cloud. AUDIO AND EVERYDAY USE The open-ear speakers are another pleasant surprise. The set up gives you instructions on how to use features such as volume adjustment, so I won't go into that. You can listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks without inserting earbuds, while remaining more aware of your surroundings than you would with conventional headphones. Its similar to my Shokz, just without the bone vibrating part. At reasonable volumes, the sound can be fairly private. At higher volumes, however, people nearby may hear what you're listening to, particularly in a quiet room. The built-in microphones also support voice interactions and phone calls. I did several test calls and the receiver and I heard each other clearly. Overall, the idea of combining audio, calls, photography, and AI in a pair of sunglasses is appealing because you don't have to keep switching between devices. The glasses case is especially convenient. It doubles as storage and a charging station, much like a wireless-earbud case. Put the glasses away, and they can recharge without having to connect a cable directly to the frames. The case uses a USB-C charging cable, which was not included. I haven't conducted a controlled battery-life test, so I can't confirm how long the glasses will last under sustained AI, camera, and audio use. Actual runtime will depend on how frequently you use those features. However, if you are just wearing them for leisure, and put them in the case when not in use, and occasionally charge the case, battery life should not be a issue. WHAT THESE GLASSES ARE — AND AREN'T These are not augmented-reality glasses with HUD. Nothing is projected on the lens. Think of them as more a fancy sunglass with open-ear audio, hands-free camera, and a voice-controlled AI assistant. LIMITATIONS AND BUYING CONSIDERATIONS • They're sunglasses: Dark lenses aren't ideal indoors, at night, or on cloudy days. Prescription or transition-lens options may help, depending on the configuration. • No conventional zoom: You can't simply magnify a distant subject as you might with a phone camera. • AI isn't infallible: Some questions or complex commands may produce inaccurate answers or require a different prompt. • Privacy requires thought: Consider which permissions you're comfortable granting and how you use the recording features. • Battery life depends on use: Frequent camera, audio, and AI activity can affect runtime. • The price is a consideration: You're paying for several technologies combined into a familiar-looking pair of glasses, not just for sunglasses. BOTTOM LINE These glasses are much more than a novelty, even though playing with the AI is undeniably entertaining. Hands-free photos and videos, open-ear audio, voice commands, and the ability to ask questions about the world around you make them a genuinely interesting everyday tool. They aren't toys; they should be used appropriately, while maintaining others privacy. Expense aside, these are fun, clever, and surprisingly useful. This is the kind of device you never knew you needed until you tried them! Not sure if you will need three though. In hindsight, that was overkill on my part. But in fairness, I thought they were different, and did not want to miss out on something new. ... show more
