  • LooooooooVE❣️
Size: 8 Wide Color: Taupe
First time Merrell shoe owner. I've been using regular tennis shoes for hiking and though they are ok, my feet are feeling it this year. I normally use an old pair of Skechers D Lites to walk, hike and they hold up fairly well, but they're not made for hiking. First time trying this pair on I definitely feel and see the difference (photo). These run a big larger than a normal 8 wide, and it feels wonderful on my feet. Feet change all day, they swell, can become more sensitive so extra room is awesome! Even though there is extra room they still fit like an 8 wide. Room for extra thick socks too. Traction/ treads have very good grip. I climb fairly steep hills that are dirt tracks with very little area for my foot to grip on. I cant WAIT to try these out on the steep hills! Ive been avoiding climbing them for fear of slipping. One slip and I'll be taking a long slide down the rocky hill. Just trying them on my arches feel supported, but if its not enough, I'll add inserts. Great arch support so far. Soft material, laces adjust easily. Tongue loop for laces- yea! Wont be sliding around. I can feel my ankles are being supported, even though they are not boots. I need ankle support and a tough shoe to take the impact of rugged ground I'm walking on which is why I was using sketchers previously. I cross creeks in several places so waterproof is a necessity. Plus these soles will grip slippery rocks better than my tennis shoes. My old skechers held up with a few oops into creek water but they shrank all over. These Merrell hikinh shoes mean no concerns hiking on damp vegetation and crossing creeks on slippery, wet rocks. Very cool style, they dont scream hiking shoes. They feel like tennis shoes on. They're truly more comfy than my skechers. I've finally learned there is a reason for hiking shoes and will no longer make -do with tennis shoes. EXCELLENT hiking shoes. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Very comfortable hiking shoes
Size: 9 Color: Smoke
Fit was perfect. I wear a size 9 shoe typically and these are a size 9. They have great traction and fit snugly enough on my feet for vigorous hiking. I wear these on the trail a lot. They have a hard sole and a lot of structure, but are still flexible enough to be comfortable. These are great. .

  • Well Made & Comfortable
Size: 10 Color: Olive
They’re attractive & fit well. They’re heavier than I expected. Comfortable for walking 4-6 miles a day — I think they’re good for longer more rigorous hiking as well. Fit is accurate.

  • The best shoe purchase I've ever made!
Size: 8 Color: Taupe
I've never bought hiking boots/shoes before, and I've never bought Merrell shoes before, so I can't say if the quality is the same as it has always been, but compared to my new balance sneakers these are to die for! I was afraid that buying Merrell shoes was more of a trend for hikers, but now I know that it's because they really are quality shoes. I bought these because I knew we were going hiking in West Texas and I wanted to make sure I had good grip and support in my shoes. These shoes have the best grip I've ever experienced! I was able to walk on slippery, slimy river rocks and smooth rock, with loose stones on top, at a 45 degree angle with ease. Literally no slipping period. I felt confident walking on any terrain for our entire trip. We walked 20+ miles in a few days and I have to say that my feet did hurt, but not because of a lack of support. I think my feet were just tired. I'm usually pretty sedentary. My arches never hurt, and the support in these shoes is also the best arch support I've ever experienced. I have a very high arch so I didn't feel like the arch support was perfectly snug with my arch but it was plenty. The only thing that bothered me when I first wore them was the snugness of the padding overall. It felt great because my foot felt stable and well supported, and I had plenty of room all around, but the cushioning in the top of the shoe where I laced them up felt like it was cutting off circulation. So i just didn't tie them very tight. I also had thick socks so that didn't help. After a couple of days this went away. I also have to say that I have never been able to tie my laces only once. I have always double knotted, but these laces never ever came undone even with one knot. And I walked a lot. Up and down mountains and kicking up stones. I would definitely buy these again, and I'm planning on buying these for my teenage daughters as well instead of wasting money on Nike or NB which have no support and no tred! ... show more

  • I normally love merrell, they fit well and are usually very comfortable
I’ve already owned a few Merrills and have liked them a lot; they fit well, quality materials, but this has been strange because the shoe size 11 which i normally wear, and is a bit big for me but I need the length, is very wide in the toes. 10 1/2 didn’t quite fit which I thought would, was wide in the toes too, and for all the Merrell shoes I’ve ever worn or tried on this is the most uncomfortable foot bed they’ve ever put in a shoe. It’s the insert and it’s hard! What’s strange is that the last shoe I ordered was actually leather and this one looks like it was punched out of artificial material and it also doesn’t say leather on the label anymore? What’s that about? I love the tread, and color, but they don’t run large like everyone said, but wide. Amazon charges manipulated pricing which makes shopping with them less desirable but the ordering and returns work nicely. I decided for the money to go waterproof esp. after reading you cannot waterproof the material yourself. So I ordered brindle and, the 11 fits much smaller, but might still work. I have to change out the inserts, ( hard). I’m debating between it and Columbia which has a somewhat softer bed, and wider fit. The Merrell has a little flaw on it but might not be a big issue. Quality is not the same as before. Certainly not comfort and consistency. Why doesn’t the label say leather anymore? My other Merrill’s are very comfortable to walk in. These require different inserts, and at least, and some breaking in? Still an overall nice design. Think I’ll try to find more out about the leather upper that doesn’t say anything anymore. ... show more
