When I first put them on I thought they were heavy because for many years I made do with lightweight walking tennis shoes. Then one day I slipped on a wet surface and injured myself. I sought a safer shoe. I came across these the way everybody does now, via the Internet. More to the point, in an hour or less I realized that these were gloriously comfortable shoes and fit perfectly snug. Since then I've walked hundreds of miles wearing them and they continue to impress me with their comfort. I've worn them to walk country trails, deserts, rain forests, mountain sides, and of course, sidewalks. They're the "real deal" for all-occasion footwear (maybe not dress up affairs but I digress). Their laces are extremely durable, not likely to ever snap. At the top of the rear there's a finger loop which enhances ease of putting them on. My feet never sweat in them, even in sweltering heat. Got these on a sale and have hiked about 50 or so miles thus far. I ordered a half size up and they fit really well. Pros: Great fit Soles are rigid and durable. I hike over jagged rocks frequently and the sole protects your feet well. Cons: they are a bit heavy. They are way thicker and chunkier than the photos will portray. This can add some protection however. So not all bad. So so: Comfort. I’d say by about by mile 6 my feet are about done and need a break. This could be the weight or the insole I’m not sure. But they aren’t amazing for comfort. Maybe just ok. Good for shorter day hikes I’d say. The sole alone is really worth the purchase. Despite a couple drawbacks. ... show more

I have one foot that is slightly bigger than the other and these shoes fit both feet perfectly. I have tried Nike, Sketcher, New Balance - these Merrels have fit the best by far.

My husband has purchased these shoes 15 times since 2015, sometimes buying two pairs at a time. He wears through shoes in about 6 months but absolutely loves these shoes. He can stand in them all day and his feet won’t hurt. They look good and are rugged. PLEASE don’t ever change them!!!! They are awesome just as they are! Sometimes I think he married this shoe instead of me because he will be a loyal customer till death or they stop being made or change design for the worse. ... show more

Have owned and worn out many Merrell hiking shoes over the decades. These shoes are comfortable and my "wear all day" pair. They breathe better than the waterproof Moab hikers, so can be worn regularly.
