  • Best purchase!
Size: 11.5 Color: Gold
This brand! I can't say enough. My first pair of these were used second hand, very lightly worn both my boys wore these for about 1year and they were still in good enough shape to give to a friend for her boy to wear when he lost his at my house. That's 4 kids (boys between age 4-6) worth of wear and tear. So, THIS pair above are the one I bought recently for my adult special needs son, 6+ft. Tall and has put on weight. He is heavy on shoes. He will walk the toes and heals off just about anything. These hold up to him! I used to have to buy two pairs of shoes for him just to get through one year during school because of how bad other brands build their shoes now. This brand will last him longer than a year or two I have no doubts on that! MADE TO LAST! MERELL DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING, DON'T COMPROMISE! LOYAL! ... show more

  • It is as good as my first pair.
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Beluga
It is as good as my first pair of the same shoes. I never understand why people rate shes as good fit or bad fit. YOUR good fit may not be MY good fit. With that said, my size is 9EEE. This pair fits me great. When trying on fit, always get it slightly loose. On all day long hike, your foot expands and you will need an extra half size. My first pair of the same model is very good. I walked a lot and the bottom is worn out by my VERY HIGH MILEAGE USE. I wish they make the sole even more durable. The upper is still like new after 3-4 years. Not stitching is worn out. No glued parts peeling off. No material become frayed. ... show more

  • Possibly the greatest shoe ever.
My husband and I both bought these for walking the Camino de Santiago. We walked the Camino 8 years ago in terrible shoes and vowed not to do it again. These are supportive, breathable and just the right mix of being comfortable and rugged. They're also not as heavy as most hiking type shoes. Mine are wide width and if you have wide feet, these are for you. My feet are so wide they're like...square, lol. My husband's shoes are regular width but still pretty wide. Just and FYI if you have a narrow foot. ... show more

  • Most comfortable sneakers I've ever bought.
I used to get sneakers costing half the price of these, and was very hesitant to even try them on at the store (first time I bought them), but with my weird feet (flat and wide), the Merrell extra wide fits perfectly, and are the most comfortable sneakers I've ever bought. Wife got me to try the first pair, and is actually kind of annoyed I've been getting the same thing over and over again for years now, but when you find something that works, you stick with it. So the fact I've bought at least a dozen pairs of this model sneaker should be enough to let you know that I really like them... but they are sneakers, and everyone is different, so maybe try a pair at a store, first? ... show more

  • Pretty good
Size: 11.5 Color: Gold
Got these on a sale and have hiked about 50 or so miles thus far. I ordered a half size up and they fit really well. Pros: Great fit Soles are rigid and durable. I hike over jagged rocks frequently and the sole protects your feet well. Cons: they are a bit heavy. They are way thicker and chunkier than the photos will portray. This can add some protection however. So not all bad. So so: Comfort. I’d say by about by mile 6 my feet are about done and need a break. This could be the weight or the insole I’m not sure. But they aren’t amazing for comfort. Maybe just ok. Good for shorter day hikes I’d say. The sole alone is really worth the purchase. Despite a couple drawbacks. ... show more

  • Good shoe overall
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Beluga
I normally get a wide (9.5 wide). Other shoes I've got 9.5 wide fits perfectly. This 9.5 wide is a bit wider than any other wide shoe I've got. I little more room in the width than I'd like. Other than that, I do like the shoe. When it's time for new shoes, I'll probably get this again in just a 9.5 (not wide) and hope it's a good fit. ... show more

  • Cool for Hiking Boot
Size: 9.5 Color: Walnut
I wear this on movie sets and I see other crew wearing them too. If people are wearing them on set during hot humid summers, you know they are a pretty good shoe. They aren't the coolest shoe in the world, but for a hiking boot, they are very cool. My feet never come out dripping. Maybe a little wet, but they do, do a good job venting heat. ... show more

  • Don't listen to Amazon's recommendation to go down to a smaller size
Size: 11.5 Color: Walnut
This is a really nice hiking shoe! I usually order a size 12, but when I ordered these, Amazon recommended I order size 11.5 "based on my purchase history". I only did a short 5 mile hike in the Texas Hill Country, but as you can see the results were painful.😖 SO I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU ORDER YOUR NORMAL SIZE!!! ... show more
