Finally someone has done it right! We have had 12 children and bought every quality play food out there within the last 20 years, and this is by far the best so far! This play food is very realistic harder plastic, perfect size, and the paint doesn't come off either. We were loving the new sprouts play food, but with toddlers they tend to chew on that brand because it's rubbery like teething toys and the paint comes off and items get ruined with missing paint and chew marks. We have had these for over 3 months now with continual daily play from my 5 little kids and 1 grandchild and they still look brand new! We can't wait for Melissa and Doug to come out with other sets like breakfast and lunch sets, along with pizza, taco's, real meat burgers, salad, different cookies and goodies etc. We have both of these new dinner sets and the fill em up bowl sets also.

These are wonderful illustrations of foods. I laminated some of them and use them for teaching ESL on the Internet. They are excellent for choosing a healthy meal, showing foods that Americans eat, and for showing a number of varieties in each food category. There are a number of illustrations for each food category which is terrific. If I hold up peas and the child does not like peas, there are lots of other vegetables the child can choose from. This is great because I can say goodbye peas and let the child choose something else that they like. Beautiful illustrations. I also use this for a grocery shopping game with the kids. They can put items in their cart from each food group.

purchased for an active 21/2 year old who is having a lot of fun with this play food. His favorites are the ice cream cone and cake slice and cookie. They are realistic looking with weight and sturdiness. If I could eat that ice cream cone with chocolate sauce I would!! It looks that good! The veggie burger and chicken are not as obvious but still work. I also bought the red set and we have fun together setting up meals on the little plastic plates in his kitchen set. If we don't loose the pieces this play food will last through several kids and beyond. Just wish it was less expensive-between the 2 different sets I felt like I was paying for a real grocery bill!
