  • Works fine
Color: assembled
I received my 2 boards and quickly tested them, they work fine. I have some experience with ESP8266 but these are my first ESP32. They use the ubiquitous ESP-WROOM-32 module with 4MB flash, no pSRAM. Notes on the boards: as opposed to the ESP8266, to upload from these from the Arduino IDE you need to keep the "Boot" button pressed until the upload begins, then release it. Otherwise the upload fails. The boards work fine when you select it as a generic ESP32 dev module in board selection. More precisely I use the following in Arduino IDE 1.8.5: ESP32 Dev Module Flash Mode: QIO CPU frequency: 240MHz (WiFi/BT) PSRAM: disabled Flash Size: 4MB (32Mb) Partition scheme: default 4MB with spiffs (1.2MB app/1.5MB SPIFFS) Flash frequency: 80MHz Upload speed:921600 Core debug level: none Port: depends on your PC (COM4 for mine) Board info shows: BN: Unknown board VID: 10C4 PID: EA60 SN: Upload any sketch to obtain it ... show more

  • DON'T BUY if you are breadboarding
Color: assembled
Unlike well-designed ESP32 boards like those from Adafruit, these boards are so lazily slapped together that the designers "forgot" they would typically be used with 5-pin-series breadboards. They have DIP pins, right? Where do they expect them to be plugged in? Well, they DO plug into standard breadboards but there are NO pins left available for interconnects, on one or the other side of these Gargantuan barges. You will have to use these with female flying hookup leads, which might or might not work for you. Incredible what sloppy, thoughtless design is coming out of Shenzhen these days. Returning them. Can't recommend the Adafruit ESP32 Feather highly enough. Amazing what a difference a designer with a mind can make. Go, Lady Ada! ... show more

  • Warning! Different Width and Pinout as NodeMCU-32S
Color: assembled
This board works fine, but it has two issues that I do not like and one feature that I like. CON #1: This board is a different form factor and has different pin mapping than the standard NodeMCU-32S ESP32 dev board. This means your Eagle footprint and wiring diagrams must be adjusted. CON #2: This board is wider between the two rows of pins than the NodeMCU-32S, so it will not fit in a standard breadboard, so there is no chance to plug in jumper wires into the breadboard at the same time that this dev module is plugged in. PRO #1: I really like that the pin labels are on the top of the board! The NodeMCU-32S boards have the labels on the bottom of the board, so when the module is plugged into a breadboard, you cannot see the labels. Duh! These are definitely cheaper than the NodeMCU-32S dev modules, so that's another "pro". ... show more

  • My experience to achieve successful ESP32 projects
Color: assembled
I have few ESP32 modules: 1./ My favorite is MELIFE ESP-32S (good quality, affordable price, and sold in pairs - the main reason I bought 2 pairs of them), 2./ Genuine Espressif ESP32 is like Cadillac among cars (beautifully designed but costing twice as much as MELIFE), 3./ If a project needs a display than it is good having already built in 0.96 OLED, 4./ Wemos D1 R32 has slower MCU and also slower USB to UART bridge (CH340G instead of desirable CP2102). It works but beginner will stumble on proper settings for MCU clock, and upload speed (they are slower than defaults for ESP32 boards).Same as many users I struggled with ESP32 until I bought a wonderful book (see picture). All projects presented there works with MELIFE perfectly. Code is clearly explained. The book is not for free but saves you a lot of time and frustration browsing Internet for solution answers. Also, it is an advantage having more ESP32 modules: you can work in parallel on more than one project. Beside, some projects need two modules (on picture I am presenting one MELIFE module sending temperature and humidity from sensor HDT11 using bluetooth to other MELIFE module with OLED display). I highly recommend MELIFE ESP32S board and also mentioned book. ... show more

  • ESP32 dev module - standard, works correctly
Color: assembled
I am writing this review because these had very few reviews, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was very happy with what I received. I received rev1 modules. They work as expected. I have no complaints. Having said that, yes, these are microcontroller dev boards, and do require some level of expertise to utilize effectively. They are easy to use with PlatformIO or ESP-IDF (or Arduino IDE, if you swing that way;. I prefer PlatformIO, but have had success with all three, YMMV - whatever you prefer. And, yes, the Espressif mqtt client supports SSL, and works well under both platforms (haven't tried Arduino IDE for this). Since another reviewer gave more details, I won't repeat. One difference I would note: Whereas the other reviewer had to press the 'boot' button to program the boards, I find I do not have to. I don't know what the difference is. All 4 that I have purchased from MeLiFE are working well so far. They arrived in good order, and were packed well. Some ESP32 boards I've purchased from other suppliers have not been packed so well - even had bent pins - though those also worked. ... show more

  • Great product - Great company
Color: assembled
I had a little glitch with my order - Company was VERY quick to respond, and very favorably. Product is great - I am using it with Amazon IoT service - SSL encrypted MQTT. All Arduino IDE. Able to get it working very reliably. I like this much better then ESP8266. Very easy to get working with BLE - talking to off-the-shelf BLE iPhone app. But I will say this - The Espressif IDE is *MUCH MUCH* better than the Arduino. I do highly recommend. It is a “real” full-fledged professional RTOS. All the stuff I spent weeks trying to duxct-take together in Arduino development environment just worked out-of-the box in Espressif. I bout more because these were so good. ... show more

  • Hey it works!
Color: assembled
I've been using these devices for a few years now and wanted some spares. Price is inline with other vendors. Only tried 1 of the 2, it worked just fine. Came in foam wrapped in an ESP bag, foam of a type I have not seen and not sure it too is ESD safe. Would buy these again.
