This device is more than a decent eBook reader; it is an eBook reader + handwriting notepad + eink tablet. The hardware: In addition to the description of the product, this device has an SD card slot. The software: It natively supports many eBook formats, file conversion is not needed. You can also install additional apps if you have eBooks with special formats. Since this device has so many features, it requires more work to set it up in the beginning. 1. The firmware is updated and released frequently. The first thing to do with your new MEEBOOK is to update the firmware to the latest version, it takes about 10 minutes. 2. The device has not been certified by Google. The first time you tap on the icon of the Play Store app, it guides you through a process to get the device certified (WiFi is needed). This is the most frustrating step of the setup, but you only need to do that once. 3. The device comes with its own App Store that includes some popular reading apps. However, some of the apps do not work properly. You should install those apps from other sources. 4. The USB didn't work when I first connected the device to my PC. I tried three USB cables, still not working. However, after I plugged and unplugged the USB C connector a few times, the USB started to work momentarily. After a few more plug and unplug cycles, the USB works constantly. Since then, the USB always works without any issue. I suspected that the issue was a dirty contact of the USB C connector; the plug and unplug cycles cleans up the contacts. This could be a problem only on my device. Note: your PC must support MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) in order to transfer files. 5. The device comes with only a two-page quick start guide. The full user manual is not yet available. In the meantime, you can search the MEEBOOK reviews online; there are many detailed reviews on how to use it. It sounds like there are many issues, but those are during setup and configuration. Once you know how to do it, it is not an issue. I have not had any issues at all during reading.     • Great e-reader, just OK for note-taking
Lots of user adjustability, front lights, and Google Play Store works without a hassle. The screen is sharp and very responsive. There is a bit of a learning curve but for the most part the Meebook P78 Pro is fairly intuitive. If you're mostly interested in reading with the device, it is a very good choice. If you're mostly interested in taking notes, the Meebook P78 Pro is just OK. Note-taking is quite functional, and the device has a few very nice features, but the writing feel is closer to writing on glass than it is to writing on paper. It isn't terrible for note-taking, but it isn't in the same class as the Remarkable 2, the Supernote A5X, the Note Air 2 +, or the Mobiscribe Origin. If you haven't used those other devices, chances are good that you'll find note-taking on the Meebook P78 Pro to be quite nice. It isn't the glassy feel that I've experienced on regular android tablets, but it isn't that far off from it either. All in all, I like the Meebook P78 Pro quite a bit. I don’t write reviews unless I find a product that is either terrible, or great. This one is great! I have an older 6” Kindle that is just too small. I wanted something bigger. Well, this Meebook P78 Pro is bigger, and better. The price is excellent also. Being Android, you can load any of your favorite apps on it from the Google Play store. I have the Chrome, Kindle, and Solitaire apps on it. They all work great. The 7.8” size is perfect for an e-reader. The only way to improve this device would be to increase the storage and RAM. 32gb is not much storage these days. You can use an SD card also, but that’s not exactly the same. Be aware that this is an e-ink display, and therefore is not suitable for videos or fast animation. I had a small issue updating the firmware but the seller was very responsive and solve my issue. ... show more

I bought this open platform e-reader to read my e-books in different online bookstores. The machine is simple and elegant, but, however, I have issues registering and making the device certified by Google. After contacting the customer service through Amazon, here is the step-by-step process to solve the issue: 1. Update the firmware: Go to APP --> UserSettings --> System Updates to install the latest firmware (version MEEBOOK-V1.0.0-2022013112) 2. Enable Google service: After firmware update, go to UserSettings --> Device Settings --> Enable Google Frame and bind your Google account to the device to complete the registration process. 3. Wait serval hours for Google to certified the product --> Restart the machine and it should be ready to go. 4. If still not working, reset to factory setting and re-try step 1-3 I wish the initial user experience could be better, but I also appreciated the responsive customer service who helped me solve this issue.     • Unstable and low quality screen.
I really, really wanted to like this ereader. I own the Likebook Mars and the specs on this device convinced me that an upgrade was justified. Sadly the system is very unstable right now. For example, the A2 option to speed up the rendering on screen, can not be disabled when using the Google play apps like Kindle and Nook, or when browsing the internet. When the option is turned off from the top menu, it turn itself back on when changing books, pages or interacting with the menu. In a couple of hours of use I had to turn the thing off at least 10 times, and each time the screen gets so messed up with the ghosting that is frustrating to have to also use the menu to manually refresh the screen. I hated every minute of using this device, I went back to my perfectly working Mars. I had already passed the tremendous disappointment when I realized the pen was not included, and then all thes bugs... I can't recommend it. ... show more
