  • Heavy-duty crusher, but not for tender palms
Using an Ergo Grip pill crusher for 3 months to crush pills 3-5x daily for enteral feedings was taking a toll on my fingers and wrists, so I purchased this to avoid further damage to hands that had carpal tunnel and tendon surgery 9 months prior. This crusher has alleviated that stress, but this is such a heavy-duty crusher that the pressure required to crush pills has the palms of my hands sore at my surgery sites. I would not recommend to anyone recovering from surgery to hands. However, I would recommend product to anyone with healthy hands, as crusher does crush finely enough for enteral feedings. In regards to the pouches, they are think and sturdy. I've been crushing 30 pills a day and using the same pouch for 2 days without any tears or rips. This product does exactly what description states, and well worth the money due to this and it's durability. ... show more

  • Works exactly as advertised, great time (and energy) saver
If you have ever used one of those cheap twist or mortar-and-pestle pill crushers and thought "THERE'S GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY!" . . . the good news is, there is! It's this. At first, I thought $80 was a bit much for a pill crusher. But seriously, the Silent Knight is a lifesaver: (1) Minimal effort required. All you do is move the lever up and down and maybe flip the pouch over once. (2) Zero cleanup needed: You just put the pills in the pouch, crush and empty the grains into a container of your choice. (3) Very little waste: No gears for the crushed medicine to get stuck in. (4) You won't get carpal tunnel or sprain your wrist. (5) It crushes a large number of pills at one time. (6) It doesn't take up a lot of space. (7) No batteries or electricity needed, just a little arm power. We were quite overwhelmed at the prospect of having to crush a relative's pills into a fine enough powder for an enteral feeding tube, but the Silent Knight made this process quick and easy. Very much recommended for anyone who needs to crush pills for any reason. ... show more

  • Pill crushing made easier!
After having used the manual hand held pill crusher that took its toll on my hands - this unit is a welcome relief. Simple - easy to use and effective in crushing pills to crumbs small enough to dissolve in water and pass through a feeding tube! Excellent unit and very sturdy - wholly recommend

  • This fantastic crusher is exactly the same one used in our local hospital
My husband has Parkinson's and has difficulty swallowing. It was so laborious to use a hand grinder to crush his pills. He had surgery and was hospitalized for a week. The Nurses used the Medline Silent Knight Crusher and I was so impressed with the ease of use. It does not require a lot of hand strength. Using the small plastic bags to hold the pills while crushing stops the messy grindings from getting everywhere. ... show more

  • Well worth investing in if you have an ongoing need for crushed medications
Use 3x daily for elderly parent that requires crushed meds. After trying multiple pill crushers, trying to mash pills in various bags, with a wide assortment of kitchen tools, shop tools, and beating them with hammers.... this thing does a great job and save me time. I know the pills are going to be crushed and very little sticks to the little pill crushing envelopes that it uses. Saves me time, is relatable, and does the current 3x variety of pills with little effort. Recognized it as the tool on many med-carts at facilities I've worked in or visited. Only downsides I see are the size of it and needing to buy the pill envelopes for each use. Both are minor issues for me. ... show more

  • Works great since I have a PEG tube.
Used in conjunction with the Silent Knight Crusher pouches, these are excellent for getting my pills crushed to a fine powder. I cannot swallow and I solely rely on my tube. It's important that the pills are finely crushed so that they do not block up the tube. The pouches are so sturdy that I can use them a few times to crush my pills. This is a heavy piece of equipment and it's solidly made. It's very easy to use. Just a few repeated smacks down on the handle, and my pills are powder. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth the piece of mind
My child has epilepsy and can't swallow pills. We wanted to try a new medication but it only came in pill form. I bought a pill crusher at the pharmacy and it worked ok, but it was hard to get all the pill out and it was a lot of twisting. A friend that worked at a nursing home suggested this. It seemed expensive for what it does. I brought the crushed pill in the packet to the doctor office to make sure it was okay to be crushed to a powder. the doctor was impressed that we had bought the silent knight and said that is what the hospital used. While it is overpriced, it does mean my child is getting 100% of the medication, we even did blood work to confirm this. Over time this will pay for itself since many of the liquid medication cost more and now we can use this to crush other approved medications, I say approved because always make sure medications can be crushed first. As for use, you still need a decent grip and strength. It only takes 3 motions to crush our pill but I know people who are considering buying this might be older or have limited strength. One good thing is you can pre crush the pills and then heat seal the packets for traveling or for someone that might not be able to crush them themselves. ... show more

  • Best pill crusher
This is the exact pill crusher the hospital used. It literally takes pills that have coding on them and desecrates them! I’ve never had a pill crusher this good. It is very heavy, but I think that is part of the reason why it does such a great job.
