Updated review 5/2018. Patient is able to force the inside continer to dispense pills by putting a finger in the outside hole and moving the wheel to dispense. Downgrading to 1 star. This is a ton of money for a pill box that can be manipulated. is my second purchase of this product - the outside lock on the first one broke after my patient tried to break into the box. This pill dispenser is definitely tamper proof. I agree with the previous reviewer - I'm not happy about the price, which seems very, very, very high. This dispenser does work, and is tamper proof. The first one lasted 4 months and and so far has worked for a month +. For the cost and the experience with the first dispenser i feel like I can only give it 3 stars. If the price we a couple hundred less, I would definitely give this 5 start. ... show more

Update: talked to their customer service and they are sending me a new unit. I didn’t think they would because it’s past the 30 days. They gave me no problem, no runaround, just told me they’re sending a new unit. I’m changing my rating to 5 stars because they were so helpful. The machine won’t register when I turn it over to dispense the medicine, so the alarm blares for an hour. It’s too late to return it. I’ll be paying this off for 2 years. Gadget is mostly satisfactory, but pills in gel capsules tend to stick in the dose slots,so one ends up opening the outer metal shell for every scheduled med. It is generally tamper-proof for a relatively feeble person with dementia. It solved my problem, but it could be better. Haven't found anything else better on the market. Definitely an improvement over MedMinder which is flimsy and was easily susceptible to prying open. ... show more

Well worth the money if you or someone you love struggles with long term use of a controlled substance and don't want to abuse the medication. I've been on adderall 23 years and haven't had to increase my dose in 10+ years because of it. I've purchased an older model that I call "the tank" because it has obvious metal frame that I've tried and been unable to break into. The metal gears inside are what really makes it tamper resistant in my opinion compared to anything else on the market. In moments of desperation I've tried to put something inside the dispensing end to force it to the next dose but the gears can't be moved that way. ... show more

Extreamely well made. This will do exactly what it says it will. For me this will make our lives much easier. The price.......is the only issue. I can't see much more than 50 to 75 bucks in materials. This thing costs more than six times what it would cost to make one. Seems excessive. But, for what I need it for I might have paid even a little more. The excessive cost also will keep me from breaking into it. If it cost 100 bucks or less, or what the cost is to build it, i could be inclined to break it open and buy another one. But, not at the cost of six timeas that. This is working extremely well for my son. He has court ordered psychiatric meds and a substance abuse problem and lives independently. I have to fill this every 9 days because he takes meds 3x a day and it keeps him compliant. He doesn’t like me handling this but from past history, he just can’t remember whether or not he’s taken his meds and the dosage, so for now this has been a life saver for everyone involved. It is too expensive unfortunately for most people that need it. I tried to turn the inner dispenser through the hole on the outside and found it wasn’t possible. A finger can’t fit in there. I suppose if someone wanted to create something small enough and bent at the right angle they could somehow manage but I don’t see that as an issue. ... show more
