I bought these not necessarily because my studs were beyond 16 inches appart, but because they were not going to center the TV where I needed it. I was hoping to use these to use as the main brace for the studs and then slide my TV to center position. These went up well and worked very well with my mount. (PERLESMITH TV Wall Mount Bracket Full Motion Dual Articulating Arm). They were easily strong enough to support my weight of 200 pounds, so my 70 pound TV was no challenge for them. I was able to slide the TV along them like guide rails and lock it where I wanted it. I am SO glad I bought these. My only wish is that they made longer versions of them.
