I purchased a new home that had a location to mount a tv above the fireplace. The fireplace has a stone veneer, but the builder cut out the holes to accommodate. Only issue is, I could not find a full motion mount that would line up with what was there. I did not want to drill into the stone, and needed something that would allow me to use what was there. Thinking no such thing existed, I got on good old Amazon and found this. Bolted right up to the existing holes, and then I mounted my mount to this. What a relief. After trying to mount a separate TV mount, discovered the studs in the wall where we planned to hang it were farther apart than the rest. These extensions fixed the problem so I didn't have to return anything I'd already got and just push forward on the project. It actually even made it possible to glide the mount left and right a little bit that I wouldn't have been able to do before, so there's an extra perk. Update: A year or so later, and this thing worked so good, I ended up buying and using 3 more sets (plus the same "Mounting Dream" TV wall mount) making a total of 4 sets of these around the house. Check out the images from the latest install prior to finishing the new wall paint and new TV being attached). I was sort of taking care of all the projects at once, repainting the room, adding a new outlet and wall mount for a new tv, etc. all at the same time. That way, I could be sure the paint would be flawless being done last. I got really good at installing these things through the repetition, and they always worked fantastically. The studs in our bonus room are 24" on center, but the TV mount I had was designed for studs that were 16" on center. This extension bracket enabled me to use my 16" mount and get studs on both sides. I was also able to slide the tv mount where I wanted it. Since I needed the tv mount to be slightly to the side of the middle of the 2 studs, I was able to get the TV mounted exactly where I wanted it to be. It included all the hardware necessary and installed without any issues. It took me about 30-40 minutes to find the studs, drill the pilot holes, put in the lag screws and get everything on the wall. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if the TV they want to mount is off center from the middle of the two studs. ... show more

I’ve gotten this twice and it gets the job done. My old house had 24” spaced studs (no second floor so not a structural wall) and this bridges the gap perfectly. Completely adjustable and even easier to mount to the wall than the actual mounting arm is since you can take your time with each half. This thing Saved my bacon again when the studs didn’t line up right with where we wanted the tv on the wall. Had plenty of adjustability to make up the difference. ... show more

    • Exactly what I needed for 24" wall stud spacing.
Size: One-Piece Extension Bracket
Works great when you're stuck with 24" stud spacing to mount your big screen TV. (I thought 16" spacing was supposed to be the national standard.) Here's a tip though. Install the top bar to your wall studs, then attach whatever TV mount bracket you're using to it BEFORE installing the lower bar. Then slip the lower bar in place and attach it to the lower part of your TV mount bracket. And LASTLY secure the lower bar to your wall studs. So why do it this way? As careful as I was, using the cardboard template to install both bars, the holes to attach the TV mount bracket to these bars didn't quite line up. Using that cardboard template caused too many errors in vertically spacing the bars. So if you do it like I suggest, there's no spacing errors since the TV mount is already attached. All that's left is to attach the lower bar to the wall studs. There's plenty of room to drill the pilot hole with the bar in place, (or you can mark the drill hole and then detach the lower bar if you really want.) Either way, the bar spacing and all the mounting holes will line up perfectly. One more little tip. Forget those electronic wall stud finders. Get some small super magnets and place them where you find the nail heads under the drywall. With 3 or 4 of them vertically placed, you will see a much more accurate location of the wall stud. Whoever installed the drywall don't always put the nails in dead center in the stud. You don't want those vital lag screws too close to the edge of a stud. ... show more

It is constructed of heavy gage steel and together with the original bracket, gives every appearance of withstanding the weight of the TV without buckling.
