I bought a platform bed with horizontal slats. I think they were two far apart and too flimsy because they sagged in areas away from the edges of the bed and away from the center support. I added these slats on top of mine, vertically. I also used stick-on felt pads (1 inch circles) to stop them from making noise when the two sets of slats hit each other as I moved around.     • Horizontal or Vertical Slats?
Know the bedframe and type of mattress you will be using before placing your order. Some frames have horizontal slats which might be fine for a box springs but if you are switching to a different type of mattress ( such as memory foam) you may need additional vertical support. The VERTICAL slats meet this need very well. Simply unroll the cloth covered Vertical slats onto the top of the previously mentioned Horizontal ones. A king size bed/mattress will require ordering the appropriate selection. It comes as 2 separate sections (packaged together in one shipping carton). There are appropriate velcro type tabs for joining the two together. The cloth covering is quite nice and does serve to protect the bottom of a mattress from dust. These slats made it possible to keep our sturdy wood bed by transitioning from a king size mattress with matching box springs (well past its' Use by Date) to a hybrid (gel foam/inner springs mattress) platform bed, thus keeping costs down in updating this master bedroom. I bought these because my bed was too high with box springs. I have some major abdominal surgeries coming up and needed to lower my bed while I recuperate. Perfect height now! And - my bed is much more comfortable as well - as the box springs made the mattress too firm. I HIGHLY recommend!

This is great for a sagging mattress, firms up the support quite a bit. I actually had a 3" mattress topper on top of my mattress, Slid this in between the topper and the mattress for very firm support.

Delivery was quick and materials seem a good enough quality. However, the slats have a huge space between slats that IS NOT as pictured. The space between slats is the same width as the slat. In the product pictures the slats appear to be much closer together. Since there are a lot of similar items from which to choose, I definitely would advise any customer thinking about purchasing this item to make a careful inquiry about the space between the slats in order to make the best choice. Arrived with spots on the cover…some strange adhesive…I won’t put my mattress down on this, it’s an immediate return. This is obviously poorly manufactured, two of the boards are also warped. Figured it was worth taking a chance based on the mixed reviews, but what a waste of time/effort. I think it’s a real problem that Amazon is selling something like this. ... show more

We bought a new bed which had support, but the bed sagged a bit. Purchased slats. Nicely covered. My husband placed them head to the foot of the bed. There are two sets easily handled by one person.
