  • Shuts down every minute
I bought this back in October when I got a new toy hauler and I live in the northern states so I did not get a chance to use it until the summer and I went camping for a week completely off grid, and it would not stay running for longer than one minute, and it was out in the wide open free air and not around anything and I tried multiple things to get it to stay running and had no luck. So I tried it again today at work with it sitting in the middle of a paved parking lot and it will not stay running if a slight breeze blows. I read somewhere that they have huge problems with the CO sensor and I’ve been trying very hard to find information about it. For the average person, you will hate this thing. I’m not happy and I’m completely out of my return window and request repair window. So now I have a $1000.00, 85 lb ,weight of junk. I’ll change my review if they contact me. But till then. Find something better that works when it supposed to. I was so excited to get this as a huge gift to myself for my first camper, But when the only thing a guy needs is power for 5 minutes every day and this shuts down in under a minute. Very very disappointing. ... show more

  • Easy to use
A lot of power in the smallest package you're going to find. Decently portable and very easy to use. Electric start makes this a breeze. I use it to charge my Stark Varg on 240v and it works excellent.

  • Works as advertised
Works as advertised but a little louder than expected for an inverter Jenny. The on off switch is backwards. So in order for it to run, I have to switch it to the off position. Then to turn it off, I have to switch it to the on position. But otherwise it works perfectly fine.

  • Seller is STELLAR, you can rest assured they DO take care of their customer.
I had several issues with the first one that arrived, I think I got that notorious BAD APPLE, but then I was among the first to order this brand new product...I understand that they have modified it rapidly based on early problems SOME units had....that will self determine now over time... Well, at least my Husband tells me about this sort of thing, I let him handle all the technical stuff. All I know is that even after we had the unit for many months, the problem it presented and I think that it was among the first sold, led them to saying BOX IT, we are sending someone to pick it up, use the prepaid shipping label you get through your Amazon Messages. So quick were they, that the very next day after he shipped the old one, the new one arrived. They even told him to keep the gas filler neck filter he accidentally left out when he boxed the old one... What we have to offer right now isn't how well it performs, but my husband tested the new one and it does in fact OUTPUT the advertised wattage through the standard RV connection built in. But what we really like about this, beyond the electric start, is that it is full 240 volt, and interacts straight with our Solar Backup System to keep us lit and refrigerating even when the grid is down. What we have to offer is KNOWING that this seller STANDS BY their product. That is worth LOTS... ... show more

  • Be aware of limited or no support, also no parts availability if you have problems.
I am only giving this a three star rating for two reasons. If it wasn't for those I would give it a one star. I will get to those at the end. I purchased this unit for the small compact design. It was the smallest and lightest inverter generator capable of producing 240V power and fit many of my needs for home backup quite nicely. Right off the bat it fired up nicely and produced clean power. I didn't realize that due to its lightweight construction, it is quite loud compared to other closed-frame inverter generators. Had I know this and not cared about the noise, I would have opted for an open frame inverter generator which produces the same clean power but with more noise at a much lower cost. This is one strike but minor compared to the rest. I always like to put equipment like this through a break-in period and then put it though its paces which I am glad I did. I ran it with varying small loads and changed the oil at 30 minutes to remove break-in debris which is important to do on ANY small engine. I then ran it another 2.5 hours while starting to add loads to further break in the engine, then changed the oil at 3 total running hours. It did great up until this point. I was similating a whole house backup scenario during this part of the break-in and the unit was doing it quite nicely. Then about 5 minutes after the second oil change the generator just stopped and all the lights went out. I know this unit has a low-oil shutdown so I wondered if I had left something loose. I checked and everything was tight, the oil was full, and there was no oil leaking from the unit. The unit would restart and then immediately stop just as it seemed to be running normally. I decided to start timing this period and I figured out it would stall at EXACTLY 10 seconds without any variation. That told me it wasn't fuel related. Something was predictably telling the unit to stop at 10 seconds. So I contacted the manufacturer. I was given troubleshooting information that clearly wasn't applicable to my problem but went through the steps anyway. Of course it made no difference. Then I got no response from the manufacturer when these steps didn't work. I decided to contact Amazon and they offered me a full refund but couldn't take the unit back because it had been used with fuel and oil. I was told to keep it and do with it what I wanted. No service centers for this exist so it is basically a throwaway which seems wasteful. Then the maker offered to sell me a second unit for a very significant discount and allow me to keep this unit. By this time I got a bad taste and decided to take the refund from Amazon. Since I was told to do what I wanted with it, I decided to see if the unit could be repaired. I posted on some forums about this and everyone seemed to feel it was related to the carbon monoxide (CO) sensor with the predictability of the shutdown. No CO sensor fault light came on though which was odd. I messed with this thing for about a month when I had free time but didn't ever seem to make any progress. I was working a lot and traveling so this was a lower priority. As soon as I thought I had it, it would do the same thing. I started to consider hauling it to the local scrap yard and being done with it. I started probing wires to the ignition coil kill module with a multimeter and noticed that these seemed to produce a small 2-3 volt signal before the unit stopped, except for one. I traced the one dead wire back to the CO sensor which is what everyone was suggesting. I then decided to cut the CO sensor wire and run it in parallel with the low-oil shutdown and see if it would stay running. It did! At this point I thought it was completely fixed by bypassing a bad sensor. I noticed that the electric start was getting weaker and that there was no 12V DC output from the unit. I figured that even if I couldn't fix this, I could still manually start it and make AC power which was the main reason I bought it. I started taking apart the 12V side and noticed it was quite simple. The fault ended up being a square DC rectifier that had been mounted on a stud using a nut. This nut had clearly been overtightened, cracking the case of the rectifier. This obviously worked for the first 3 hours of operation and then finally cracked and shorted the rectifier. I replaced this with a heavier duty version and restored full functionality of the unit. So for what was probably a 50 cent part that failed, the manufacturer just wrote this unit off. I got all my money back but with the time I spent, I pretty much bought the unit with the labor to fix. It definitely still wasn't free but at least it was my choice to put this much time into repairing it. This isn't all bad. It was educational and could help if a similar failure happened during an emergency. In the end I ended up with a working generator. The unit continues to operate as it should after my repairs but I certainly wouldn't suggest it, especially to those who are not mechanically inclined. Even if the unit worked as it should, here are my negative points about it. -It is loud for a closed frame inverter generator. I bought it for the small size and lightweight package but would have opted for an open frame unit at a lower cost had I know it wasn't as quiet as most closed frame units. -Customer support is not very good. If you buy one of these and experience a problem outside the return period, you risk having an inoperable generator with no ability to fix it. -Parts availability is basically non-existent, with the exception of spark plugs. Finding spare parts on hand or if needed during a repair is probably not possible. An owner must do research and source components from other similar models made by other manufacturers, sometimes requiring modification, to make replacement parts work. In the end I was happy with the resolution (for me) but don't think this would have ended as well for the average person. ... show more

I unbox unit the previous day added oil filled the tank with fuel and set it in the back of my truck came out the next day to dry run and set the seals and I have a puddle of fuel inthe bed of my truck and the tank is a quarter full so it's been leaking all night. It's a Sunday now when I sent email to Maxpeeding. So I don't expect a reply until tomorrow anyways. One star because now I have generator that I am not going to trust. If I had this in my garage where the gas furnace and water heater is the chance of fuel vapor ignition is worrisome ... show more
