Many of the bamboo stems in this Mason Bee Hotel are too large in diameter. Inside diameters should be around one quarter inch. About 50% of these stems are half to five eights inch in diameter.

I purchased this to add to my collection of three other bee houses. This one is by far the most durable of all of them. However, the bees seem to like it the least: the bamboo tubes are a big larger than the other houses, and they don't seem to utilize this as much. Unfortunately many of the bamboo pieces have only tiny holes that NO mason bee can fit through. I had to personally drill out about 1/4 of all the pieces. Furthermore, many of the larger rods have openings only 1 - 1 .5 inched deep. Mason bees need to lay their eggs 4-5 inches deep. The bamboo rods are not secured in the house. Many fell out as the house was tipped forward. It does not include a hook for hanging, rather there is a wire loop on the back that can be placed on a hook. Got this for a sister who is really into native plants, gardening, and pollinators. It’s cute and the color matches her house. Disappointed that some of the bamboo tubes came loose in transit but they were easily glued back in place.
