The item is beautiful and well constructed. I paid 2k for this bookshelf because it's just me, it matched my decor and it said "comes fully assembled." Imagine my surprise when the delivery guys bring 3 huge boxes 2 which clearly marks that the weight is almost 200 lbs. The description needs to be modified as some assembly required. I have spinal stenosis and herniated disc's throughout my spine from my neck to my sacral. I am going to be hurting for weeks. 3 stars because of the description. The piece is beautiful and when or if I get it assembled I will post a picture. UPDATE: ONE OF THE BOOKCASES IS BUSTED :-( reduced to 2 stars. Man, I really wanted to love this but way to many headaches for 2k. ... show more

We ordered 8 of these, two sets of three and one of the two bookcase sets. To anyone considering them: they look fantastic once they're unboxed and set up. Solid wood except for the veneer panels in back which wasn't a big deal for us. If you have ceilings less than 9' tall, do not buy these! They are just shy of 8' tall and tipping them upright will give you problems if you don't think about ceiling height first. Getting them involved coordinating with a last mile freight company who thought it appropriate to send out one guy to unload the ~170lb boxes all by himself. He looked like he was going to die by the time he got them all into our garage. Getting them into the house was another matter entirely and we ended up calling a local moving company for help there. Do not attempt to move these with less than two people, and preferably with a furniture dolly to help. The bookcases are remarkably well packaged and stuffed in enough styrofoam and cardboard to fill a small dumpster. Your end experience will depend greatly on the freight process and how well they survive the journey but at least the manufacturer has done what it can to prevent most damage. A couple of our boxes made me all but certain I was going to have to return them based on how beaten up they looked but the packing did its job. ... show more

The bookcase is absolutely beautiful. Delivery was a huge problem, but fortunately it did get resolved. I would definitely recommend set-up if you order this item is the pieces are large and very heavy.

I ordered 4 shelves, hoping if I pay a lot I get something good, they perfectly fit my wall for the library. 1 got cancelled day before delivery. When we started to unpack, we discovered that the last of 3 was broken, seems like it was broken before it was packaged. Picture of my broken shelf's back looks exactly as it posted in the review above, which makes me think I got that shelf. Next, because it is not wood but 100% mdf with plastic finish (not "hand applied" as description says), it is very heavy, like 200 pounds heavy, it also produced 3 contractor size bags of trash of Styrofoam. It would be a good shelf if that would be what description says and if that would be delivered according the cost of the item. ... show more
