The color is not really white, as a few other reviewers mentioned, but more of a pale greenish beige. It looks very nice against my taupe walls with white trim, however. It came packaged very well and took me about an hour to cut up all the cardboard and remove the protective styrofoam. I was glad that I asked them to lay the box on its side as this made the unboxing much easier. It also facilitated attaching the legs with a hex key. My one disappointment is that the shelves are not deep enough to fully enclose some of my books when the bottom doors are closed, as I was hoping to hide them from view. I'll have to store them elsewhere. Also, the proportions of this bookcase make it very unstable unless it is anchored to the wall. For its size this is a very light bookcase, which makes it prone to tipping over if not weighted down. The feet must be screwed on, which could be a problem for buyers who may not want to risk tipping on its side to attach them, the height makes it a bit unwieldy, best done with two people. The feet have rabbit cuts that don't sit squarely up against the underside frame, leaving some sloppy gaps you would expect to be more precisely fitted on products in this price range. The shelves are light duty at a half inch thin, capped by a wider fascia board to give it a hefty look They are not flush with surrounding frame, but recessed behind it, which is hard to see in the pictures, sacrificing 3/4 inch of depth. In the light, the faux paint job to make it rustic and solid stands out. The wire mesh doors feel flimsy when opened as if you could break or bend them with little force. The top is unfinished, so if you overlook it from a higher vantage point, such as a stairway, it looks sloppy and reveals the paint's overspray around the outer edge and soft ash grey wood in the middle. At $499 this would be fairly priced, but definitely not at $852. ... show more

Cymax took great care of me and shipped out another one right away and the new one is mostly flawless, just a rough patch on the main shelf above the cabinet, almost like it wasn't sanded properly or water damage.     • You can buy with or without the 2 doors on the bottom shelves. I think it looks much nicer with the doors.

Solid workmanship. Delivery was planned and coordinated well. Just don't forget when you install that 99% of desk is complete, but you have to attach the feet. Packed very well and no damage during transport.
