I previously bought the wrong cord to replace my blind cord but this is the correct one. It is much stronger. Use this cord to replace the blind cord when it breaks. It is very easy and much less expensive than buying a new blind.

So do not order new $200 shades for your camper if you just have a broken string. While I did work with this for about an hour and a half and I had to double the string, there was plenty enough string on the roll to do this with. It is adorable and my night and day shades work perfectly now. For about 20 bucks I still have enough string to restring all of my other shades in case they break also. Here’s a great trick: light the end of the old string and new string on fire for a few seconds and then mush them together. It forms a strong connection so you can easily pull the new string in with the old.

Just received and re-strung one side of blind. Immediately noticed a significant amount of difference in stretch compared to old cord (this one stretches a lot more). As a result, blinds just don't go up/down smoothly.

    • Revived Plantation Blinds At A Fraction of the Cost of New Ones

After looking at big box hardware stores for Venetian blind replacement cord and coming up empty, I was delighted to find the Mandala Crafts Blinds string in a choice of thicknesses. Nothing wrong with my existing vinyl blinds, with 2 inch wide slats, except the cord broke, and I suffered sticker shock when I priced a new one (at the store that doesn't sell replacement cord, of course). I also happen to like the pull cords instead of the new cordless mechanisms that blinds feature today. I purchase 1.5mm cord which ended up being a hair smaller than the existing cord but I feared the slightly-larger-than-mine 2.0 mm cord might not travel through the stop mechanism efficiently. It took an easy hour to restring the blind slats and they work great at a fraction of the cost of a new one. The braided cord appears to be exactly like the original cord in structure and strength. Very strudy. I have plenty left over and expect I'll find good uses for this strong, no stretch cord. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more
