Let's pretend that I have never used an electric planer before, that the purchase of this item represents a steep learning curve, and that I approach the use of any power tool - especially one that can slice off pieces of objects - with more than a little caution. Let's also pretend that, faced with a neatly packed array of pieces, I immediately went looking for an instruction manual for how to put it together. Last, let's pretend that what was included in the box was an "instruction manual" which focused on the tool's features, tech specs, precautions, maintenance, and accessories. NOTHING about how to put it together, and nothing meaningful in how to operate it. No illustrations whatsoever. Surely, even at its point of manufacture (China) they have competent technical writers? I use this planer when working with wood structures. It works very well. A small drawback is the width of the machine compared to the width of the cutting part - sometimes there is a limitation of maneuverability and access to the corners of the wooden constructions. But it will definitely pay off for that money. ... show more

This tool is amazing, i have installed 27 white pine doors with all having to be planed, flawless operation, works beyond expectation, i bought this plane thinking i would use it just for one time use as it was super cheap, turns out it completed the job and another and going on a third, i would definitely buy this tool again for its intended purpose. ... show more

I am still amazed at how good this tool is and it was so inexpensive! It runs smooth and the cutters are very sharp. You can spend a lot more and not get one as nice as this tool.
