  • Makita makes a durable product
Style: Impact Wrench Only
I am undoubtedly a Makita guy for power tools. This is my 4th Makita tool and 2 months in it serves me just like I thought it would. Yes, its a touch heavy, and yes slightly cumbersome. Hold on to the darn thing and bust some nuts. I bought this as a small repair shop and specifically for old rusted junk that I work on daily I want nuts and bolts to either come off as the should or break off one or the other but one of those needs to happen, this impact gun archives that. I was given a small Makita lock bit impact 5 years ago and told it did not work. I bought a battery and still beat the bag out of it daily 7 days a week most weeks, 5 years later, and with previous apparent hard use. I now own 3 batteries, 1 radio (bought used, very used, works great) 1 reciprocating saw, 1 clip lock impact and 1 1/2" impact all are amazing. Register your tools clean them every so often maintain them and they are well worth the money. Can't wait to get another Makita product 18v drill is next on the list ... show more

  • Amazing power its all true
Style: Impact Wrench Only
Bought Makita XWT08Z impact wrench to do one thing...remove a honda harmonic balancer crankshaft bolt at 181 ft-lbs known to be extremely difficult to break lose. I'm a weekend DYI hobbyist but I could not believe it took only 2 short bursts to loosen this bolt after all I read online about how difficult it was to remove. It was so easy with this tool and highly recommend it for this type of work for those looking at a tool for that purpose. I only used the Lisle 19mm socket made for crank bolt removal with this impact wrench and prepped crank bolt with PB blaster couple days beforehand..did not use any crank immobilizer tool for removal..amazing power! Tried on lug nuts at the highest setting to loosen and tighten but be careful when tightening because I did tighten a lug to 85 ft-lbs with 1-sec short burst that I discovered after using a torque wrench to do the final tightening and suggest a lower setting. Tool is on the heavier side but evidences the metal build quality with strategically placed rubber the around the head for good grip and high impact plastic handle, like all Makita impact tools. Also has a brake to stop rotation when you release the trigger, which is something I wish corded impact wrenches would provide. I also own a 18V Makita impact driver set and did try the 3.0 Ah battery on it, that does work but only at the lowest setting. I did not actually try to hammer anything with that battery just fitment and to know battery would work. Deferred to use the new 5.0 Ah battery for any work at the highest setting uses. I have to admit my 3.0 Ah batteries are the older (no star) type... guessing that it may have slightly different chip on it that limits the power setting on the wrench. Overall extremely impressed and happy with this tool and will find many uses for it. ... show more

  • An amazing tool
Style: Impact Wrench Only
I own multiple Makita cordless tools. They are all excellent. I bought this impact wrench to help me remove a rear brake rotor which was stuck on my 2009 Toyota Rav4. (150,000 miles. I am the original owner. It's the original rotor - I am a very gentle driver.) I tried the usual hammering, and the jacking bolts (8 mm x 1.25, if you are interested). No luck. So I bought an OEM puller, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TKVDS41?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details My Rav4 is parked in my yard, 150 feet from my house. I already own an Ingersoll-Rand pneumatic impact wrench, which is great. I have a nice compressor installed in my garage. But I was not enthusiastic about finding 150 feet of air hose, and then hauling it out to the Rav4, to hammer off the rotor on my Rav4. And then rolling up the hose and storing it for later use. So I bought used this Makita impact wrench to power the OEM puller. After 15 seconds, the rotor was knocked free. I was very impressed. Thank you, Mr. Makita. ... show more

  • Well built and powerful high-torque 1/2" impact
Style: Impact Wrench Only
I considered this model or the Milwaukee 2767-20. I know someone who has the Milwaukee impact and for some time now and it has been used hard. It is powerful, probably a bit more powerful than the Makita model (not by much with our testing). But also, it comes with more vibration (even my friend noted that), and with that power comes much faster damage/wear to your sockets (he has already replaced and few). These wrenches are approaching the intended power/torque limits of the 1/2" impact system, and are starting into the territory of 3/4" impacts. The build quality of the Makita is excellent and apparent. With proper use and maintenance, I can see this lasting many years. If you need a high torque cordless, seriously consider the Makita. The only thing I consider an oversight is the lack of a rubber o-ring for the friction ring model. Some have complained it wears out fast, and it probably does with constant use. It isn't hard to replace at all, but still worth mentioning. Also, if you're planning on using this strictly for automotive and light truck work, consider it's smaller brother the XWT17Z model. I own that also and find that is another well-built model with mid-torque specs, that handles everything I throw at it, and is 2/lbs lighter ... show more

  • El Kabong
Style: Impact Wrench Only
Picked this up for construction use, it's a specialty tool that I only use on the biggest nuts that require torque values > 75 ft/lbs. It was an excellent time and arm-saving tool when I had dozens of 1 1/4" nuts that need to be set at 125. I've gotten good at getting the hardware close enough with this gun that 1/8-1/2 turn on the torque wrench was enough. It's heavy and it sucks down battery power, but, would you rather tighten all those nuts by hand? I know I wouldn't. ... show more

  • The bottom is designed to wiggle
Style: Impact Wrench Only
I’ve seen quite a bit of reviews saying the bottom is loose and my other makitas aren’t like this, this is designed to take impact from a fall and continue working if the base was too sturdy it would instead snap. I have used this tool as a mechanic every day since I got it with no issues, it’s definitely heavier than other brands but I’ve had better luck with this tool than other brands on stubborn nuts and bolts ... show more
