X2 LXT technology delivers increased power, speed, and run time, without the hassles of a cord. Get up to 175 cuts per charge in 2x12 SPF lumber with two 5.0Ah batteries (sold separately). the efficient BL™ Brushless motor runs cooler and more efficiently for longer tool life and delivers up to 4, 400 RPM for fast and smoother cutting. The XSL08Z also features automatic speed Change™ technology to adjust cutting speed and torque Under load for optimum performance. For improved efficiency, it’s equipped with auto-start wireless system technology. Aws™ utilizes Bluetooth® technology for wireless communication between the tool and dust extractor (sold separately). when the trigger of the aws-equipped XSL08Z is engaged, the aws-equipped dust extractor powers-up. When the trigger is released, the dust extractor powers-down. Aws is intelligent communication that eliminates cords and excessive noise since the dust extractor runs only when the tool is running. The XSL08Z has a unique 2-steel rail sliding system design that offers single slide-glide operation for smooth and Dead-On accurate cutting right out of the box, as well as a reduced overall footprint that allows the saw to be positioned flush against a wall. The innovative direct-drive Gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity (6-3/4”), crown molding cutting capacity (8” nested), and 15” crosscuts at 90 degrees. The saw miters 0° to 60° left and right, with positive stops at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 31.6°, 45° and 60° (left or right). The bevel Lock is located in the front of the saw for easy access and quick adjustments from 0° to 48° (left and right). the direct drive Gearbox with soft start is a key point of difference. Direct drive enables smoother start-ups and consistent, Constant power with no belts to slip or replace. Additional features include a built-in laser that indicates the line-of-cut, dual dust Collection ports for excellent dust extraction performance and an Electric brake provides added convenience. It also has a large-sized aluminum base that improves the stability of cutting stock for more efficient cutting. The XSL08Z includes a 12” 60T carbide-tipped Max Efficiency Miter saw blade. The thin-kerf design provides smoother cuts with less drag on the motor and minimal material loss. Compared to standard blades The max Efficiency Miter saw blade delivers up to 100% faster cutting.

I've had this saw for about 3 months and have no complaints with it so far. I use it a few times a week running base, crown, and all sorts of trim. I squared it out of the box and have had zero issues with it staying true. The power and smoothness surprised me. I had an old corded Makita 10" version and there was a lot of blade deflection and wobble from the old rail system, however Makita got it right with this updated rail system. Also, the dust collection is great. I normally pair it with a rigid box vacuum (1-7/8" hose) and the size actually fits perfect with the dust port on the miter saw. I had to cut the little tab off to make it fit snug but not a big deal. The battery life is pretty good considering it is a 12" miter saw. I normally can cut an entire day on (2) 6 amp batteries. Depending on the amount of cuts sometimes I will need to swap out, but the batteries charge so fast it is not a big deal. I used to pair my old saw with the Dewalt saw stand, however this one did work with the stand. There's not enough adjustment on the arms to get it to match the base of the miter saw. So I got the Makita saw stand and couldn't be happier with the entire setup. Would definitely recommend this saw, especially if you already have the Makita batteries. ... show more

What to know before buying this tool: 1. I am a Makita fan. I have used their tools for over 15 years 2. I have used and abused all of their hand tools. They have fallen off ladders and roof, been passed between employees in the field, in the heat and cold, and I have never had one fail on me. 3. This is my first cordless miter saw. Cons: 1. This thing is HEAVY! At about 70lbs be sure to lift properly. I have mine attached to a stand that does not require me to remove it. It makes it easy to transport and move around the house or jobsite. This is not a ding on the product. Of course its going to be heavy as most quality cordless miter saws are. 2. Did not mount properly to the Makita stand (sold separately). I ended up going to Home Depot to buy a different stand that could better mount the saw 3. Directions are not great. Makita should have a QR code or link to video on website that shows how to properly setup and use all the features. Pros: 1. Its a Makita. 2. Great power and battery life with either 4.0 or 5.0 AMP batteries 3. Feature rich! Anything you want out of a miter saw can be done 4. AWS (Auto Start Wireless System) sold separately works great for dust collection to minimize dust in the workspace. Know you will never collect all the dust though 5. Pre set miter and compound cuts for easy setup and cutting on crown molding and other miter cuts Conclusion: Another high quality product from Makita that I use on a regular basis for home and work purposes. I'm kinda locked into their products now since I have so many tools and use their batteries. I don't want multiple tools that take a variety of batteries. I love this saw its my first cordless,i also got the AWS auto vacuum with it my only complaint is this saw is $80 more then the one without the AWS or should i saw without the AWS hole to install the AWS, its kind of ridiculous they charge that much extra just for a hole to put something that you have to pay another $80 for that it should have come with in it...anyways otherwise the saw is near perfect other then the mounting holes if you are going to stick this on one of their stands mine cracked around the mounting hole when i put it on a stand they really should have reinforced the mounting holes but they did not they are just thin molded aluminum i cracked both front holes without even tightening it enough to compress the lock washers it came with,if you are going to mount this i would suggest getting yourself some 4, duraline 1 inch spacers to put under the saw at each mounting point to support the holes if you want your saw mounted even fairly securely. my saw came perfectly squared but i suggest if you dont have a square that you order one with the saw as the one it comes with super small and cheep plastic its ok to check the blade vertically but worthless for checking it horizontal against the fence.. also if you are unfamiliar with this brand of saw your going to want to flip through the manual as it has levers and buttons and stops all over it that are handy but a bit confusing at first,you will also have to take the fence's off for tilted bevel cuts as they do not slide,there is room for improvement for sure but i dont think you will be disappointed in the saw its extremely powerful for battery operation and lasts all day and seems to hold its accuracy, it is rather massive and heavy (70 pounds) and the vacuum hoods for dust collection on this thing work amazing with there AWS vacuums after multiple cuts i was hard pressed to find more then a few particles of dust,i have not tried it with there dust bag but i have read it only covers the top port for collection and lets most dust just pile up in the bottom collection hood leaving a mess. also dont buy their Folding Miter Saw Stands they are junk im likely going to keep mine as shipping it back will likely cost me half the price of it,get a different brand or go with one of their other options. ... show more

This 12” Makita Miter Saw is very accurate, powerful and the battery lasts forever but it is so damn heavy that you will think twice about ever hauling it anywhere even with the miter stand. I think it’s excellent for fixed use such as in a dedicated miter station in a shop but for location work I’d only bring it out with me if I’ll be on a job site for a week or longer and can leave the saw in a safe location. ... show more
