  • Very useful tool for those who wrench often
Style: Ratchet
I haven't used a powered ratchet in a very long time, resorting to just using regular hand ratchets. Having to disassemble a bunch of small bolts on an engine rebuild project made me decide to pick a powered ratchet up. Having Makita power tools made this purchase a no-brainer. The tool isn't especially powerful but then powered ratchets aren't meant to be. They are mean to be fast and versatile. I've found using the ratchet to crack a bolt loose by using it like a conventional hand ratchet, and then using the power feature to spin the bolts out made very quick work of pulling the timing chain cover on a Nissan engine. Likewise, the low torque output means you probably won't damage anything by using it to run bolts back in as well. Makita tools are typically expensive, but I'd rate this one an excellent buy! ... show more

  • Great Addition to the Makita Fleet
Style: Ratchet
I had a number of jobs to do on the cars and wanted things to go smoothly and quickly. This is a great addition to the various manual ratchet tools I use. It really speeds up tasks with many small fasteners and works fine on larger bolts once they're loose. Not really great for getting bolts evenly torqued, but fine when torque settings aren't critical. I looked at cheaper versions, but I've got piles of Makita batteries and they're super reliable so worth the extra cost for the tool. ... show more

  • What can i say its a Makita
Style: Ratchet
Ive been a big fan of Makita products and when this ratchet came out i was excited to get one. This did not disappoint and has held up to the abuse. It was priced very well and I recommend it

  • Rotation Change Lever In Bad Location
Style: Ratchet
I've been using this ratchet for several months now and generally am very happy with it, but recently discovered an issue. First, I admit that I should have planned a little better, but I found that if you're backing a bolt out in a tight space, you can back the head of the ratchet into a fixed object that can block access to the forward/reverse lever so you can't run the bolt back in and use a different tool to remove the bolt. Yes, I may have been able to move the lever with a pick but I have other air and manual ratchets that in a similar situation are much easier to change the direction on. I was able to use a long bar to move the engine far enough from the frame rail to get the tool out, but it took some time to do so. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind when working in tight spaces. Also the 1/4 -3/8 drive versability is nice, but it is very difficult to change the anvil. I have to stick a punch or Phillips screwdriver in one end and hit the other side with a rubber mallet to get it to pop out. I tried lubricating it and gave it time to break in, but I'm still unable to change the anvil without hitting the tool with a mallet. Again, not a big deal, but it's an inconvenience. The 3 Ah battery lasts a surprising long time on a charge and is not too heavy or bulky. ... show more

  • THE BEST RATCHET. EVER.
Style: Ratchet
The media could not be loaded. This thing is awesome. It’s a 3/8” drive, with a 1/4” drive anvil included, so no adapter needed. It’s super fast, and seems like it has some good torque. Hands down my favorite electric ratchet I own!

  • Buy this one if you already have Makita batteries
Style: Ratchet
Skip the cheap no-name ones on Amazon. I tried 2 of them, and despite claiming the same specs as this one, they were terrible, just weak and slow as molasses on a cold day. This one rocks.

  • Why didn't I see the beauty of this tool before?
Style: Ratchet
I admit, I didn't see the point of a ratchet that was only capable of 30-lb ft of torque. I'm used to using impacts with much higher rating. But then I watched a video that enlightened me and it totally changed my view. What I didn't realize with that these tools are *also* manual ratchets. So if you need a bit more oomph, just push or pull the tool until the fastener breaks loose. Or if you want it a bit tighter than 30lb-ft. The lower torque is actually a good thing because it means there's almost zero kickback on a tool like this. That, plus the smart Makita electronics that will cut the power before the ratchet whips your hand into a nearby steel object and hurts you. I've done a good bit of work with mine since I got it a couple weeks ago and it's still going strong on the same 5.0 battery I put in it. It's a VERY useful tool that I didn't expect to like as much as I did. It's superior (IMO) to an air ratchet because of the protective electronics and lack of kickback. ... show more
