Coming from a Makita XRM07 speaker I have to say that this is rather a big improvement. This speaker has two 3.5 inch side speakers that work perfectly for your mids and high. And the 4 inch subwoofer at the bottom of the speaker drastically improves the bass and makes this speaker sound bigger than it looks. It is rather heavy but expect the weight for the sound that you get. I love how you can customize the sound on the speaker with your own equalizer options it just takes it to another level. I do have to mention though that at full volume depending on what app you use to listen to music the bass may distort but this can easily be fixed my turning down the bass on the equalizer settings. It does not charge batteries, but that to me is not a big deal I usually have my speaker close to me everywhere and the batteries charging at another spot, but it might be a deal break to some. To be honest for this size of speaker it has to be one if not the best out there. I'm running the speaker on a 5.0 ah battery and I've gotten about 15 hours to 18 hours of play time at diffrent volumes, but mostly full volume and it's honestly amazing because 3 speakers are quite hard for a battery so I do recommend to run this speaker on big batteries like a 5.0 or a 6.0 so make sure to have those around if thinking on buying this baby. Other than that it has a slick look that I love and its definitely a banger! I recommend this to anyone that loves makita this a 100% true review from my side and I wouldnt trust anyone but me when it comes to sound I own a lot of diffrent speakers! Make the right choice! I read a lot of reviews for Makita XRM09B before purchasing and I was hesitant about buying due to the reviews about the sound quality and a few other things. I'm not sure what all the bad reviews were about. Although pricey, the Makita XRM09B seems well made and packed with features. One of the major concerns or questions I had was being able to play or link Amazon Alexa and other music streaming sources from my phone. Neither was an issue once I figured it out. I also don't understand the confusion around charging a phone on the Makita XRM09B. Simply plug the phone in on the front USB port via a cord. The unit comes with a decent length A/C adapter too. Built in FM antenna in the handle seems to work pretty good. I currently have it in my basement workshop and it cut out only a few times as I was walking around. It's to be expected. The pre-programmed sound settings are good but once you figure out the EQ, you really can get the sound you want or prefer. Directions are pretty straight forward and once you play around with all the controls and features it's relatively simple to set the clock, date, EQ, etc. I ran the unit on a 18V LXT, 5.0ah battery for about two hours straight and it didn't even seem to start draining the battery. So far, I'm pleased with the purchase. It's a far cry and a much needed update to the shop considering I upgraded from the ole' "boom" box with the cassette player to the Makita XRM09B. I’ve own just about all of the Milwaukee radios. They don’t hold a candle to this radio/speaker. Sound quality is amazing with the adjustable EQ. The built in subwoofer is just right. It’s a tad bass heavy at lower volume but perfect otherwise. My wife wants me to keep it at home… it’s that good. The only con is it might not be loud enough for some at max volume but it’s a trade off I’m willing to make. Works with LXT and CXT batteries which is a plus. Radio antenna pulls stations in that were almost impossible to get before. Just buy it. ... show more

My boss bought one of these, and I played with it while I was stuck in the weld shop one day. It's a nice all around speaker, big buttons and volume knob if your wearing gloves, made from quality parts, takes all batteries (12v, 14.4v, 18v), and battery life is amazing, built in adjustable equalizer, alarm, am/FM (pretty sure its HD FM), aux in, USB charging, ip65 water and dust rating, it's a nice sturdy little speaker. My only gripe is the sub in the bottom of the speaker, it rattles if you turn it up to max, which isn't super loud. Volume goes to 25, at about 21 it starts rattling. I've change batteries, and changed the equalizer, I've tried different sources, it just cant handle the lows. Im replacing an ion job rocker 1st gen, which sounds amazing, has amazing battery life (if you take care of the SLA batteries), but it's not waterproof. Other than that, the makita sounds great!! Bluetooth range is better than my UE boom, quick change batteries, FM radio is crystal clear, it's a quality built unit, aside from the subwoofer. My boss paid 180 bucks somewhere else, at that price I dont think it's worth it. But I found it on here, with a makita promotion, and was able to get it for around 130 bucks. Every contractor Ive worked for has always had a Makita radio on the job, figured it was time to grab my own. This newer model is by far the best they have made. The sound is fantastic no matter what you blast through it. Literally wants to be at 8/10 volume all day. I got 7 hours of bluetooth on a 3.0 amp battery. Custom EQ helps improve audio quality! This radio is awesome. To those saying it doesn’t hold charge, under the batteries they give you in the box. Without them the radio relies on the 18v battery to keep its memory and time. Also some people have said the radio rattles alot. This is due to the battery hatch inside the main door. I put electrical tape over it and there’s no rattle. Before, if you opened the door while playing it sounded like you blew the speakers out of the box. Do your research before relying on some reviews ... show more
