  • Speakers on side, great for job site.
Good things: -Speakers on side, this make sense in a larger area, sounds funny from right in front. -Runs off a regular Makita battery, but has wall power thing too -Has clock, most people use phones for clock anyway, handy tho -Strong enough to sit on, step on. Yeah, not supposed to do this. Just assume it will happen esp. when hijacking your BT connection -Seems to deal with a rugged life well -Easy to operate with gloves on -Bass is epic, gets pretty loud, good enough. Crank your phone and this will comply. -Handle: handy folding feature is nice because then you can sit on it (I know, I know...) -Seems to deal with rolling BT connections over, but if yours is 1st you may get bumped. Assume that people will figure out how to take over the sound system. -Bars on front prevent it from hitting controls, turning on in transport -Flat top so you can stack stuff on it Bad things: -Hard to get wall power thing in battery compartment. If you don't put it somewhere it will get lost -Black color gets hot in direct sunlight (not a biggie, just put it in the shade) Radio? No one seems to use this any more. Streaming radio-->Bluetooth seems more common. IMHO Sleep timer, alarm, etc. Not needed, not even used. All this stuff is on phones Line-in? Hmmm, never used, may never need it in this day of Blue Tooth. Antenna: If the radio is not used, what's the point. Nice that it's rubbery, but we don't use it. Have not tried in rain, snow or bitter cold. Have not dropped from any epic height, hope that never happens. ... show more

  • nice radio
Great radio, quality sound and picks up channels good. Do not let it get to cold (15 degrees or below) because it will not produce sound.

  • Very impressed!
I have a couple Makita tools that I love, so I decided to buy this Makita radio for my shop. This has exceeded my expectations. The build quality is very rugged. I love the large and easy to use carry handle. The sound quality is surprisingly good. Blutooth connection is easy. Radio reception is great. It's a nice size, unlike the heavy Bosch cube shop radio that I've seen before. Being able to charge your Makita batteries and run it off a battery is just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Make sure sound works !!!
I have previously owned the same radio for four or five years and it worked good the whole time but we were rough on tools , and finally someone dropped it or smashed it with something because the screen was blasted in and stopped working. So I wanted the same radio and I purchased one from Home Depot and opened it, and the volume wouldn't work ,seems like the speakers were blown. So I returned that one and then tried two others in the store. They had the same problem.. So I purchased a brand new one through Amazon.(so I thought) , and It got delivered no issues there . I opened it and the date came up and it said 2021 which was a surprise because I thought I was getting a new radio ... anyway I tried it , and same exact problem . The radio did not work no sound was coming out. It came on for like half a second , real scratchy and seemed like the speakers were blown again ,same exact issue I had with the two from Home Depot.. needless to say that was sent back also . Now waiting for another new one ... we will see ... ... show more

  • Great Ruggedized Stereo
Requires* a Makita battery, so if you don’t carry Makita power tools you’ll have to invest in batteries and a charger which could set you back. Since the battery goes inside the closed cover, it may not accept a larger profile battery (e.g. for more run time, larger amp hour battery like 2ah vs 8ah). *There is a workaround for a Makita battery. You can purchase a Dewalt to Makita or Milwaukee to Makita, etc., converter and install in the system. However, it will have to be a low profile battery (2ah) because adding the converter takes up space for a medium to larger size battery. You wouldn’t be able to close the cover. System will work but not ideal to leave open in a dirty or wet environment. Great system, deep and clear sound. Worked well with Bluetooth and AM/FM. It pulled in the radio stations just fine and Bluetooth has great range. Can be paired with other Makita boxes to share audio over larger areas. The only drawback was the high volume range was limited and could cause an issue in a noisy environment. It may drown out the system’s sound. ... show more

  • Good Job-Site Radio w BT
Upgraded from returned Blue Makita w/fixed antenna which was nice. But an extra $100ish for this one was worth upgrades for us. *Like added usb to charge phone option also BT and folding antenna. * Lacks Scan button for Radio Stations *Clock time Changes if set to auto adjust to radio station So be careful if listening to station broadcast outside your time zone. *Good GC job-site Durable Unit and runs on 2-3-5Ah batteries. *those complaining no battery charger stop crying, we have that unit too but their $350-400 so we mainly using charging systems and Radios that are Radios which don’t seem to go missing as easily as the more expensive units. Would recommend and buy again. ... show more
