  • Great Cordless Vacuum
Style: Kit
With 3 dogs good vacuums are essential to keeping my home and car clean. We have a Dyson corded for the carpets and a Neato for the bedroom level of the house, which are both also excellent. But we needed something cordless to quickly clean up between full vacuuming days to remove the hair balls and tumbleweeds that gather in the corners and stairs. After much research I purchased the Makita primarily because it shares a charger and batteries with some of my other tools. After using the Makita I can say it is excellent. In as much time as it takes to set up my corded vacuum I can clean the 2 flights of stairs in my home, empty it and be finished. Being light and cordless it eliminates the awkward cord and hose dance on the staircase. It is also great for cleaning the hair and dirt from tile and wood floors very quickly. It will not replace a corded vacuum for use on carpets, which makes sense since it does not have a beater brush. Cleaning it is easy and the cloth/mesh filter is actually an advantage for this type of vacuum. Running them under the faucet removes all the dirt and dust without making a cloud. Cleaning the Dyson is a much more involved affair and is best done outside because a lot of dust is raised if you try to clean screens that protect the cyclonic portion. The Dyson is a great vacuum and much better for carpets, but the Makita is lighter, quicker to charge and easier to clean. Just keep in mind that it won't replace a full size vacuum. Having the ability to share batteries with my other Makita too is great. It's also great for cars. ... show more

  • Powerful, light, maneuverable, and fast charging!
Style: Kit
Wow! This vacuum is impressive! First, I am a heavy Amazon shopper and this is the first product I have felt compelled to review in quite a while. This is a superb little vacuum and I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you already own other Makita 18v tools! I was debating between this and a highly rated Dyson knock-off cordless handheld vac. Ultimately the interchangeable battery and my love of my Makita 18v LXT drill driver set won me over and the extra money was well worth it! I bought the kit in white because it is classier looking and appears less like a power tool chillin’ in your living room. The 2 amp hour battery lasts surprisingly long, about 30 min of intermittent vacuuming. You do have to keep the trigger pressed for it to run, but this saves battery life when you are doing spot cleaning. The floor attachment works so good, can lay totally flat with a slight twist, and gets into the smallest spaces imaginable, under furniture, between chair legs, and behind toilets. I have a powerful corded vac, but this is going to be my daily cleaner for sure. AND I ended up with a second charging station AND I can use my bigger 5 amp hour battery from my drill kit if I really need longer time. The Makita lithium battery system charges SO fast that it clearly out-performs other little cordless vacs with built in batteries. This battery will charge in 20-30 minutes instead of the 3-6 hours of many other options. I’m SO glad I spent the extra on this vacuum! Makita continues to impress me with their lithium power tools! ... show more

  • Awesome dustbuster. Cheap addition
Style: Kit
Love everything about this vacuum. When my dustbuster's battery died I was shocked to find out I couldn't just replace the battery, I had to trash my perfectly good vacuum and buy a new one. Every time. What??? In my quest to find a hand-held cordless vacuum with replaceable battery I found this jem. It's awesome! Battery charges in less than 30 min and lasts for hours! I don't actually know for how many hours, didn't had to recharge it yet. And I don't really need my big vacuum now, I wish I bought this one from the start! After reading the reviews I knew that the on/off button had to be pressed when vacuuming but couldn't bring myself to spend twice ($180 vs $90) for a new model with lock. So this is my easy fix: a jumbo clothespin from Dollar Tree - search on website "Essentials Jumbo Plastic Clothespins, 6-ct. Packs". I'm sure there are other jumbo clothespins out there but it was the type I already used and it fits perfectly! Now my 4 y.o. son is happy to help vacuuming the stairs (he missed this chore very much while I was looking for a new hand-held vacuum). The video shows the clothespin clamped over the on/off button, the photo shows the clothespin when the vacuum is not in use. The price seems too high at the first glance but after spending days trying to find the good hand vacuum with good suction, vacuuming time more than 12-15 min and replaceable battery the price is not so high anymore! And after buying the extra attachments (I'm planning to buy the cyclone attachment and hose) it becomes the main vacuum for the house so the price seems right! I wish they had more attachments available and in a set though. Some reviews (for the blue model mostly) state that it cracks after several months). I will update this review if it happens to me and how the company with respond with replacement. ... show more

  • Serviceability and value.
Style: Kit
I have one and love the power and convenience for a quick job (mainly to clean up around my wood stove) and so I bought one for my daughter. She loves it for picking up dog hair on her hardwood floors.

  • Happy owner of a XLC02RB1W
Style: Kit
So far I have been pleasantly surprised by the Makita XLC02RB1W. Yes, as others have commented it is rather lightweight in construction but it does get the job done. The run time is great, seems even longer than the manufacturer claims. The suction is good, and what I would expect for a 18V Lithium Ion battery. One consideration for buying this is that I need to buy a cordless drill at one point and I have had Makita equipment before and it has always been really well built and lasts. To be able to share the battery between my vacuum and the drill will be great. It does an excellent job of cleaning up the long hairs which always build up on my bathroom floor. It is also great for vacuuming my carpeted stairs even though it doesn't have a powered head. It is quite easy to clean once you get the hang of it. I remove the outer casing (quick twist to get it off) and then the filter (another quick twist to get that out) then use a old paintbrush to brush off the accumulated dust. Then put the filter and outer casing back on. Job done in about 2 minutes. The fast charger is great, making the vacuum much more usable when you only have to wait a short while to charge the battery. It would be nice if Makita included a dust brush, but I understand you can buy one quite cheaply, although it is not an official Makita part. ... show more

  • Trusty lightweight dog hair champion!
Style: Kit
I needed a lightweight cordless vacuum to clean dog hair(husky!)off a wood floor one handed while carrying a baby on my hip, but I didn't want to deal with long charge times and battery failure that seems so common with other brands. This is perfect. It came with a wall bracket to hang it so it's easy to grab any time one of those fuzzy tumbleweeds forms. No cords, no hassle. Pull the trigger and the fuzz is gone. I also like that it uses a trigger instead of a switch, it helps conserve battery power. The instructions say it can run for 20 minutes on a charge, but as it only actively runs for a minute or 2 when I clean my small house (900 sq ft) that should last me at least a week before I need to take the battery out to charge it. I would not bother if you are looking for something to clean carpet as it doesn't have a brush roller, and it probably won't replace your full size vacuum for all things, but it's excellent for everyday dog hair chasing! And best of all, I can trust the battery not to fail anytime soon! There's a 3 year warranty on it, just in case it is somehow faulty. Update after a couple months: still happy :) ... show more

  • Super product
Style: Kit
Love, love this vacuum. I was looking for a replacement for a cordless Bissel sweeper that had died after a year of use. I first checked to see if I could replace the battery, and like so many other battery operated tools I have owned, it was either not cost effective or not possible to replace the battery. So instead of having to deal with the issue of dying batteries, I decided to look at other alternatives when I came across the Makita. Although it is battery operated, the battery is external and can be replaced. The battery is removal and placed in a charger for charging, and charges quite rapidly (20-30 minutes) I was absolutely amazed at the power of this vacuum. I use it everyday in my kitchen, on hardwood floors, and in the bathroom. It does a great job. Because the dust/dirt compartment is smaller than other vacuums, I empty after every 1-2 uses. There is a filter that can be cleaned or replaced. I bought extra filters and I wash and reuse them so I always have one available. This is one purchase I wish I had made years ago, and so glad I bought it. I like it so much, I plan to purchase three more for Christmas presents for my daughter and daughters-in law. Every household needs one of these for quick cleanups. Let me add, this is not for thick carpeting. It can clean thin throw rugs (like bathroom), but not for thick pile carpeting. My home is primarily tile and hardwood so it is perfect for me; however, if you have wall to wall carpeting this is probably not good for that. I do use it on most of my throw rugs. Great buy! ... show more

  • Perfect for the hardwood floor
Style: Kit
We live in a split level house. All bedrooms are upstairs, living/kitchen on the first floor, and tv room below, and the basement. I own a Dyson ball—-an upright vacuum. The suction is great. But I needed something lighter to go up and down the stairs. It is way too heavy and cleaning stairs is a pain in the neck. So I dread picking up the vacuum and cleaned less often. I have been looking at the Makita vacuum for a while, and when the price dropped, I jumped on it. It is lightweight. The suction is not very good compare to Dyson(of course) but unless you have a heavy shedding pet, this should be enough to clean the house. Kids are happy that they are eager to pick it up and clean their room too(they dreaded picking up Dyson). It doesn’t hold a lot of dust, so you will empty it more often(which can be a plus) The head is smaller so if you have a larger room, it will take some time to vacuum. Definitely good for the tight space. This is also perfect for the tile and wood flooring, but probably not for carpeting and rugs—-which we don’t have. Overall, this is a perfect vacuum cleaner for where we live. We clean more often now. Even it has some cons compare to Dyson, pros beat it. ... show more
