  • Very good cutting tool for heavy gauge material
Makes quick work when cutting heavy gauge steel and aluminum. I use a reostat to slow it down to make it easier to control. A variable speed trigger on the tool would be helpful.

  • Amazon fails customer
So, this is hard for me to write, being a loyal Amazon customer for many years now. I purchased this Makita share from Amazon in July to use it in my metal fabrication work. I did not need it immediately; it sat on the shelf until recently. Here is what the unit specs say on the Amazon site: Wattage 710 watts Blade Shape Rectangular Current Rating 7.5 Amps Voltage 120 Volts Number of Teeth 32 Power Source Hand Powered Special Features Bevel Capability It is not a unit suitable for the US market, stating it requires 120 volts. It does not. If you look at the attached image, the underside of the shear has a different voltage listed. When I tried to resolve this issue with Amazon, they refused to help. This is false advertising, without a doubt, scamming US consumers into buying equipment that will burn out the US electrical supply—shame on you, Amazon, for allowing your business to be run this way. I intended to let as many people as possible know about this failure and share it on social media and through my extensive connections in the fabrication sector. I hope you learn a lesson here: scamming people because you are all interested in profit, is not a way to sustain a business. ... show more

  • Cuts through 12 gauge steel easily (like butter)
Bought this for our technicians at work. Cuts through 12 gauge steel easily (like butter), saves time and money (no more cutting wheels). Buy it

  • it cuts very good and fast
it 's okay for cutting up to 1.5 mm, it cuts very good and fast ,but, I actually bought this for cutting 2.5 mm steelplate ,but ......the machine can really cut the plate but you can't cut longer than 2 inch, because the plate will lift up against the machine , and because of the tickness of the plate you can't push further( cut further). The thick plate is just to stiff for you to cut . So , I conclude that i bought the machine ,but can not use it for that purpose I bought a plasma cutter after this. ... show more
