  • Did the job, great for smaller projects, Very very low Dusting
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Basically they did what they were supposed to do. they cut around 12 boards for me 1/4in thick Hardie fiber cement siding, very very little dust. made the cuts fairly clean. Best thing is there was no dust. I would recommend for smaller projects for siding, patch work or small installs. If you have to do an entire home...then no. But fact is the dust from fiber cement siding is NO GOOD for you. These keep the dust to a point that if you cut outside you wont need a mask..but I would wear 1 anyways. The only thing I would say is as you cut the siding that its snipping off tends to roll up and it blocks the line you drew to cut on becuz there is nothing to make it curl off the the side like a small guide you may see on more expensive fiber board sheers. this is a little annoying but can be worked around, for the price Its great. I plan of just making a small part to guide the shavings out of my way and attach to the sheers. But they did the work and were very cost effective ... show more

  • These thing works !!
Style: Corded Metal Shear
Bought this to fix a mistake (bought to long) with some ridged galvanized roofing sheet metal. I figured for the price of this. It was cheaper than returning the metal and wasting diesel fuel. I decided to test this thing out against some of the comments of negativity. I drew a straight line on the metal with a marker. It DOES cut straight!! However if YOU the operator can't push straight. You're not going to get a straight cut. It will cut over a single ridge. This is where the swivel head comes in handy. Just rotate it 45 degs so you can push down and forward while cutting the ridge. However it will not cut thru a double ridge. Which I kinda knew it wouldn't. So I carried a grinder w/ a cut off wheel. I had 10ft of over lapped at the double ridge sheet metal to cut. Took me about 5-10 minutes. Most of that was moving the ladder and switching out the shear for a grinder. These electric shears are well worth it vs some aviator shears. If you have some detailed cuts to make. Test it out on some scrap metal 1st. So you know how hard you have to push and how much tension to apply to the trigger. ... show more

  • Simple and cheap way to cut fiber cement lap siding
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
This makes cutting James Hardie siding extremely easy. I have used it to rip a starter piece, cut a notch, and of course for cutting my planks to size. It is relatively easy to use and so far the cuts have been straight. Time will tell how long the blade lasts but so far it is working great. I especially like it is not as messy and noisy as using a saw blade. For the price, it is great and recommend. It was cheaper than buying a 10" blade for my mitre saw but I did still need a blade for my table saw to do the Hardie trim which is too thick for the shear tool. ... show more

  • Very Impressed!
Style: Corded Metal Shear
After fighting nibblers to cut aluminum I finally gave up and bought these shears. I only wished I would have bought them wayyy sooner. These shears made fast work of cutting some aircraft grade aluminum - literally like a hot knife through butter. They seem to be well made, and although I won’t be using them often, I do expect they would hold up well in a fairly abusive environment. Great tool! ... show more

  • Nice, heavy duty tool at a great price
Style: Corded Metal Shear
This is an excellent tool. I bought it to cut steel roofing, which has ridges and is fairly thick. Needed something to follow my guideline as well as handle the ridges ok. After reading other reviews I decided to try it. Very nice results. This tool was significantly cheaper than the same version sold by Harbor Freight. And it shipped quickly and efficiently and was in my hands the next day. Since I live in small town west Florida, that’s unusual. I pulled it out of the box, read the brief directions and put it to work. 45 minutes and 8 nice straight cuts later, I came inside to cool off, drink some cold water and share my experience. I’m about to put metal siding on my shop. This will be perfect. ... show more

  • too slow
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Robust tool. Returned because its just too slow to be productive and takes quite a bit of force to push thru material. Put a room fan behind me to direct dust and used a circular saw with fiber cement blade. Also found my jigsaw with carbide blade worked well.

  • Good Value. Much better than using a saw.
Style: Corded Fiber Cement Shear
Easily and accurately cuts through fiber cement siding. Almost no cement dust is generated when using shears; unlike the clouds of toxic cement dust created when using a circular saw. As with any tool, making a few test cuts will improve your results. Very well-priced considering it's stout construction. I'm nearly done re-siding a large church exterior..... wishing I'd found this tool sooner. ... show more
