  • good value
Great handy tool for small and medium jobs not requiring hi torque. Perfect for the small items requiring assembly. perfect junk drawer tool and that is a complement Small works good quality for the small job or task.

  • It's Makita. It makes short work of long screw length..
Recommended. I got this as I was doing many outlets in a cabin build and using a manual screwdriver got tedious. If you need to finesse the last bit with a manual, sure.. but this item is great. I looked for a decent screwdriver and figured I couldn't go wrong with a Makita. I stand by that.. Excellent product. I can only suggest adding a charge light on board to make this a better tool. Otherwise, the power and feel of the tool are great. Hope to have this in my arsenal of tools for the long run. ... show more

  • Great selection of bits, awkward charging scheme
I wanted to replace an old Craftsman 3V powered screw driver that I've had for decades. Because I have several Makita tools and generally like them I purchased the DF001DW. It has it pros and cons. Pros - It comes with an impressive assortment of bits that will address anything I will do around this house. Cons - What I got seemed to be the Asian model. It came with, what I can only assume is an Asian electrical plug, and an adapter for the US market. There is no battery life indication and the USB charging connector is awkward to use. I've only used it a few times but it worked well in the light duty situation I was using it in. It's just not as convenient at the Craftsman that it's replacing and the charging system is, frankly, annoying. It gets 4 stars for the selection of bits. ... show more

  • Very handy, no torque setting tho. USB charging nice, comes with a great set of bits.
This is a great little tool for taking screws out. It has a lot of power, a light. The downside is that there is no speed control or torque setting. That means that you can't really use it for putting in screws because you don't have any control over how tight they'll be. This is great for something like Ikea furniture where you have a LOT of screws and sometimes they're very long. Not good for putting up shelves or anywhere where you want to be careful how tight the screw is. Also, the motor assembly has some intertia, so when you're tightening something and let go of the button, it runs on for a moment and can cause the driver to twist. It is round-ish, so if it's in the 'long' position, it will roll off any un-level surface ( roof, driveway, etc). Also, it has an accommodation for a wrist strap, but does not some with one, so hanging it from a tool belt or on a workbench is not convenient, you have to hunt down your own loop if you want to hang it. If you're on a roof or something you may want a wrist strap of some kind. A regular driver will typically not roll off a roof or un level surface. So, in summary, great for stuff like taking apart computers and such. Not great for workworking. ... show more

  • Super handy, great timesaver
Owned this for three years now and am very happy with it. Back to get one for my brother's birthday, so I thought I'd leave a review. It's a huge timesaver and will slash your Ikea build times. For more sensitive applications, I use it 90% of the way and hand-tighten the rest. I mostly use it for furniture assembly, my PC, bike, skateboards, and general house things (socket covers, grates, handles) as well as a few off-label uses where a little motor comes in handy for (improvised cat toy, reeling up twine, buffing out stains, etc.) Included bits are good, but the hex shank makes it easy to swap in others. I have a flexible extension that helps get to some hard to reach screws. ... show more

  • Great when used properly
When used in the correct applications, this is a great tool. I use this in driving things like 6-32 and 8-32 screws into control panels. This would be great for an electrician installing device covers, or an instrument technician building panels. I like it so much I bought a second one for home. I think a lot of the problems people are having with this is because they are trying to use it in ways it is not designed to be used. It is not a driver, designed to drive deck screws. It is not a drill, designed to poke holes in metal. Makita (and many other manufacturers) make impact guns and drills designed to do those things. The vast majority of people will have no need for a tool like this. But for those who do, this is a great option. ... show more
