Description

Makita 18V Lithium-Ion is the world's largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. At the heart of the LXT Series is the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery and the efficient Rapid Optimum Charger. The new 18V Lithium-Ion Dual Port Rapid Optimum Charger (DC18RD) charges two batteries simultaneously, giving tool users unparalleled charging efficiency so their batteries spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. The 18V Dual Port Rapid Optimum Charger offers key advantages for Makita 18V Lithium-Ion cordless tool users. The exclusive built-in fan cools the battery by forcing air through the battery's air vents during the charging process for faster charging. The charger communicates with the battery's built-in chip throughout the charging process to optimize battery life by actively controlling current, voltage and temperature. The result is category-leading charge times: two 18V Compact Lithium-Ion 2.0Ah batteries in only 25 minutes; two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 3.0Ah batteries in only 30 minutes; two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah batteries in only 40 minutes; two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah batteries in only 45 minutes.

  • Excellent quaaity and charges my 9V battery in less than 1 hour.
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18RD
Makita products are not cheap but they are excellent quality, and do the job. This charger makes it easy to slide the battery in, charges quickly, and is solid (heavier than the other chargers). I discarded aother charer because I had to struggle to slide the battery in, then it would not hold the battery so I had to keep pushing the battery in to get it fully charged. This charger is fast and very reliable. Well worth the cost. ... show more

  • Works. More convenient than two single rapid chargers.
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18RD
Well initially I was skeptical about only paying $50 for something that’s closer to $180 new from Makita. When it arrived it wasn’t in a Makita box, had no paperwork, nothing. It looked like new quality, but I ordered a “new” one so this seemed odd. For the price I’m not surprised. It works and seems like a legit Makita product. I have multiple single Mikita rapid chargers that work great, but sometimes it’d be more convenient to have one plug, one device to carry around. This works fine. Only difference I’ve noticed is that the fans never shut off until the batteries have been removed. The single chargers shut off the fan automatically once the battery is fully charged. I like that better because I’m not always around to remove them when they’re done. I’d be concerned leaving the fan running all the time. *** Edit *** Did find that a while after the charging light turns green, the fan does in fact shut off. ... show more

  • fine charger

Works great. Little fan blowing in it is the only noise but not too loud. Lights to let you know when charging is done and the fan shuts off. I like it.

  • one is too small, 4 is too many?
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18RD
We all have those moments when finally we are getting stuff done and moving and grooving, then the battery dies... You had multiple batteries to begin with yet for some reason you only had initial one charged up. sure you can get 4 unit at once but that seemed too bulky for my DIY level space, so i got this, now I can rapid charge my Makita batteries 2 at once, while single one came with some tool goes in my "to go" bag for "just in case" very nice, seems like the package that HD uses (yes one of those hard plastic heat adhered case from hell to stress you out unless you have a good knife or multitool) all were in including manual, registration paper etc. material and all are the same as the one comes with makita, and it is Rapid charge version. very nice purchase I have made. ... show more

  • This can keep up!!
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
I run through about ten 5.0 batteries a day at work. This charger keeps up with them. At the end of the day I put the last used batteries on the charger and come back to ten fully charged. The unit shuts off after no change in use once batteries are charged. It's genuine Makita, not a knockoff. The only downfall is it only charges two batteries at a time. 1 and 3, and 2 and 4. Im sure due to heat (which i have not experienced). Not a problem if you have multiple. Mounts well. I'd buy again. ... show more

  • Though I have to admit I was disappointed about this since I'm crazy about products made in ...
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18SF
One of the deciding factor for purchasing this is because it mentioned origin is "JAPAN", well I received made in Chine. But that's not the reason for not giving it a 5 star. Though I have to admit I was disappointed about this since I'm crazy about products made in Japan. Anyway, be well informed this unit is 120V 50-60Hz, "NOT 220/240V". Now about the real topic and that's about the charging process. It will charge maximum of only two batteries at a time, NOT 4 so be warned. Take note: ONLY 2 at a time, "BUT ONLY IF".....here we go, "IF" you insert the two batteries on "PORT 1 and PORT 3". Let's be very clear, if you put the two batteries on PORT 1 and PORT 2, it will only charge "PORT 1 first, then PORT 2 after no. 1 is fully charged. With 2 batteries at PORT 1 & 2 you will notice that PORT 1 red light will blink (means charging in progress) but PORT 2 red light is only lit (means standby, waiting for no. 1 to fully charge) These ports works in pair, quite confusing at the beginning. Bare in mind, PORT 1 & 3 charges batteries together, PORT 2 & 4 charges batteries together. If you put 4 batteries at the same time. 1 & 3 must be fully charged first before 2 & 4 can begin the charging process. When the battery is fully charged, the green light will turn on where the battery is inserted. I wish I can just put my batteries on whichever port I want then let it charge 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries altogether, but with this unit, you must understand how these pairs work. Otherwise you'll be confused, disappointed and would consider returning the product and give it an undeserved bad review. On my part I knew it's 120V 50/60Hz, in advanced I read in some review that it only charge 2 at a time. It's just a matter of understanding how the charging process goes. Four star for me because there's room for improvement about this product for future models. And one more thing, if you'll be charging only one battery, it doesn't matter which port you'll use. Green fast blinking green light means that port is ready to charge a battery, once you install the battery, it will turn the red light on, plus the blinking of the green light beside it will be slower, but still blinking, when the battery is fully charged it will change from red to green light, green light on but not blinking, and the other green light beside it continuously blinks but this time fast blink. Note: the manual included said both red and green is on during charging process, but the actual light 'on' is only red, if you install an almost fully charged battery, actually it a fully charged one, then both red and green will turn on, but only for a minute, maybe only seconds then red light turns off, green is on, battery is fully charged I'm satisfied with my purchase, but this product are for those who are willing to learn how the charging process really works. Hope this review helps, if not, we're all adults, so go figure it out, plus the built for me, of this product is strong. Hopefully it will last for a very long time, well most of my tools does since I use them with care. ... show more

  • Great charger, very much designed to charge well and fast.
Style: Plug Pattern Name: DC18RD
This is Makita charger for two batteries at the same time. Very simple, has intuitive set up to cool batteries with active very quiet fan inside it that blows air through the batteries while charging them. There is a convenient USB (1.5A) port via which you can charge your phone or another device. It is quite heavy - there is a lot of electronics inside it. Also this charger does not come with ability to be hung on a wall - it is a stationary device for flat surfaces. It has several different melodies for indicating when battery is fully charged - if you insert and remove battery within 5 seconds, melody would switch to the next one. Melodies will stay set the way you set them as long as you do not take out battery within 5 seconds off the charger. It has silent option as well. ... show more
