Description

The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery charges faster and works longer than standard lithium-ion batteries, giving you and your cordless tools unmatched performance and productivity to take on the most demanding applications. The Makita 4.0 Ah battery combines more run time (35% more run time per charge than the Makita BL1830 battery) with a category-leading charge time of only 40 minutes, so it spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For added convenience, it also features an L.E.D. charge level indicator to monitor battery charge. The 18V LXT 4.0Ah battery (BL1840) is compatible only with Star Protection tools, indicated by the Star Symbol and/or Yellow Battery Receiver under the tool. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries resist self- discharge so they're ready for use even after long periods of storage. The Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (sold separately) is a smart-charging system that communicates with the battery during the charging process to monitor current, voltage and temperature. This advanced charging technology helps optimize battery life and deliver a faster charge. In addition, the Charger has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster and more efficient charging, even in hot weather conditions. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created STAR Protection Computer Controls. STAR Protection is communication technology that allows the tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. Makita, the innovation leader in cordless tool technology, has the world's cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V lithium-ion slide-style battery.

  • great value
Batteries arrived in good condition, appear to be brand new batteries. They were fully dis-charged out of the box but charged as expected. I have not had the opportunity to use these yet so I cannot comment on battery life or longevity.

  • Great Product
I initially ordered the wrong battery replacement for my Mikita drills. After Amazon and the sell did a great job helping me get the right batteries, I received the items as promised. This is the second time I have ordered these batteries for replacements. I am a avid DIYer and used these batteries extensively. They are durable and hold a charge really really well! The life of the batteries lasted as long as I expected. These are great batteries, but are a little pricey. Great product and I would highly recommend these as replacements! ... show more

  • They work
I have a drill and an impact drill. Batteries work and charge fast. Very easy to attach and detach. They are only used for household maintenance. The batteries are new so I have no information of longevity.

  • Won’t fit older non star rated tools
I bought these to use as a back up for a new battery powered chop saw, along with be my primary batteries for my little used 6” circular saw. Turns out they didn’t for the latter. The saw didn’t have the star emblem under the base, so these didn’t fit........or did they? Upon some internet searching, checking them in other tools, and comparing them to batteries that fit, the reason they didn’t fit was an extra tab on the battery that prohibited their full insertion into non star tools. Let’s just say removing that tab was easy as pie and now they work where I wanted them to work. I also am sure I voided their warranty. The reason for the tab it to keep them from being used in tools that will discharge them too quickly, causing them to get hot (when used for extended times, not my usage) and therefore damaging the longevity of the batteries. Still a great deal, and I’d do it again if I needed batteries. They are exactly what they were meant to be. Don’t take my misuse as a promotional for doing the same......wink. ... show more

  • These Batteries are on Electronic Viagra
Great bang for buck.....reliable batts that stay up long and serve well. As it stands the whole LXT line is tried and proven in by book. I've had a small inventory of these tools and batteries for years and never one issue.

Makita batteries seem more expensive than pretty much any other brand or device but I think you get what you pay for. I have never had an issue with these or any Makita branded batteries. They charge very fast and last long enough to charge up the other one (depending on the device you are powering.) The 4.0Ah version is the same size and weighs as much as the 3.0Ah as far as I can tell, only difference is of course longer run time and longer charge time. I like the inbuilt power indicator which my old ones do not have. At this point I've got 4 Makita batteries so I might not need more until one of these dies or fails to hold a charge. Like I said, the quality and track record has been top notch so I don't expect I'll have to get more any time soon. ... show more

  • Don't Cheap Out
I tried multiple knockoff batteries; I sent them all back. None lasted more than 10 minutes.
