  • Blade is dull after 20 cuts
Expected it to last thru one muffler install. 3" Stainless .062 wall and not going to be able to cut the rest of the pipes Blade is just dull. No teeth missing or rounded over but dull . • Low blade life for stainless steel
We purchased this blade to cut 1.5" diam 0.065" wall 304 stainless steel tubing. Cuts were at 90deg using a Makita LC1230 saw. The blade started great, nice clean burr-free cuts. After 40 cuts, the blade started to dull, leaving burrs and showing signs of excessive heat at the blade. At 55 cuts, the blade was completely dead. The cost of using this blade was about $5/cut. There is no guarantee of blade life, however 55 cuts seems to be a very low blade life. ... show more

  • Super-nice when new, but wears far too quickly.
I used this blade to cut 1.5", .063"-wall box-section tube in 304 and 316 stainless. When it was new, the blade cut absolutely beautifully. Square cuts, no sparks, very little cleanup needed. Gorgeous. Unfortunately, 20 cuts later it's almost uselessly dull. That's more than $10 per cut. (Also, according to Makita this blade shouldn't be re-sharpened.) I recently found a video from Makita UK on YouTube where this blade is listed as lasting for 50 cuts. Even if that's true, that's a pretty short life. ... show more
