  • Grandson likes it
I bought this kit to do with my grandson. It was recommended to me by my son who teaches electronics/amp building. I like that it is all inclusive and the directions are excellent.

  • Great STEM Activity to learn basic electronics for kids 8 years and up
I got this electronics kit for my 7 year old son who had shown a interest in STEM and science in school hoping it would be a fun DIY educational activity he could do at home. We have gotten through most of the experiments and this kit is the only reason we did. The experiments were mostly too difficult for my son to do alone at 7, and I would suggest this kit more for the 8-11 year old range, but having the parts all laid out in front of us for the experiments was a huge help. I couldn't imagine just getting the Make: Easy Electronics book without the component kit as we would not have done a single experiment if I had to get all these parts myself! The book itself is well written and easy to follow, and with the electronics kit I would say it’s a great activity to promote STEM electronics education at home. The sounds and lights made by some of the experiments helped keep interest and attention and were challenging enough that he kept wanting to try it himself. The author did a nice job of illustrations and easy to follow instructions and the kit having individual envelopes with easy to identify experiment numbers makes it well worth it. I would recommend this for any child (at least 8yrs and older IMO) that may be interested in learning basic electronics ... show more

  • Before you start on anything within the kit, buy the missing pieces.
Okay, I am a complete noob when it comes up to circuitry, this kit was good, up until the need for a incandencent lightbulb. Not to mention I think I may have ruined somethings while fallowing the directions as at the end of one project the booklet then warns of puting your wires in the wrong way can ruin certain pieces, yup!... Point is read instructions super carefully, and don't start on anything within the book as there are parts missing. ... show more
