Description

Building on the proven MBUS Pro platform, the MBUS Pro Offset Sights are part of an an effective aiming system to supplement magnified optics on M1913 Picatinny mounting surfaces. All steel construction ensure durability during hard use and the steel case is hardened and finished with Melonite QPQ for extreme resistance to wear and corrosion. MBUS Pro Offset Sights ensure quick and easy sighting even in the event of a damaged or nonfunctional primary optic, or a close target. With the offset sight angle, simply rotating the rifle 45 degrees provides the shooter with a fully-featured iron sighting solution. Positive detents keep the sights locked in position when deployed, and a low profile footprint ensures compatibility and reduces interference with most rifle setups. The rear sight has dual apertures and features a low-profile knob for easy no-tool windage adjustments, and the front sight features a no-tool elevation adjustment knob. The MBUS Pro Offset Front Sight features a steel, rectangular sight post selectable between Match and Standard widths. Match width is 0.40" for increased precision, while Standard width is 0.60" for maximum stability.

These are a must for shooters who want iron sights available on a scoped rifle. It takes some practice to transition quickly from the scope, twisting 45 degrees to the left and using the irons, but once you've got the mechanics down it's easy. Gives you confidence that you can continue to engage targets if your scope becomes damaged. Very hard to twist for adjusments, but it's a bit easier with gloves on. I don't consider this a drawback as you probably won't be making sight adjustments after you've got them zeroed, and I wouldn't want them to get changed by careless handling. These steel sights are slightly heavier than I anticipated, but they are robust and I'm sure they would take a beating and stay aligned. The front sight post has two widths that can easily be changed by first twisting the sight adjustment to raise the post all the way up, then gently twisting it 90 degrees either direction. If you've got thick fingers you may need to use some needlenose pliers. Thin profile for precision/competition shooting, wider profile for easier sight acquisition during movement and transitions. Be aware that if your gas block is not the same height as your upper receiver rail, you'll either have to get a riser to compensate, or you'll have to mount the front sight on top of your handguard. Generally, the farther apart your iron sights are, the more accurate you will be. Your results may vary. The rear sight also has two peepholes. Small for precision/distance shots, and wide for easier target acquisition. The holes seem to be the same width as the standard A2 sights on an M16, but instead of rotating the sight down along a screw, which changes your windage setting (albeit by only one click) the small peep folds straight down from the front and clicks into place. If I could suggest improvements, they would be a spring-loaded deployment instead of having to open them into place manually, and a full-circle front sight post guard so that the side posts aren't mistaken for the front sight. Yes they're angled, but you're also holding the rifle at an unusual angle while shooting with these sights, so there's potiential to mistake one of the side posts as the front sight under stress. A circular guard would also reduce the potential for snagging on equipment. ... show more

Excellent quality, beautiful fit and finish (like all Magpul stuff). They snap in place very tightly... I can't imagine any scenario where they would accidentally fold down (unless you dropped the rifle or fell on it or something, in which case you WANT them to fold down instead of breaking or bending). Adjustment screws are tight, but not ridiculously so. The average person could turn them with some effort... although I imagine fingers getting sore after 20 clicks or so. The super thin front post is REALLY nice. It feels precise, and I like it a lot better than others I have used. They are nearly invisible folded down, which I also like. Also it's worth mentioning that they line up perfectly on the barrel. This may seem obvious, but many of the cheaper ones skimp on that aspect and good luck ever getting consistency with sights that don't line up on the barrel. I have a custom built AR-10, SS Mega Arms 18" bbl, Wilson Combat flash hider, Aero Precision upper/ lower/ bolt, Tac-Con trigger with bump fire, Mag-pul prs stock, Midwest Industries hand guard, Vortex Viper 4-16 x 44mm scope. I added the MBUS offset flip-up sights for CQB (in the event of an emergency... this is a heavy rifle... I know you think I'm crazy to use a .308 for CQB-- lots of flash... lots of concussion... I just wear sunglasses... :)) and I really like the overall quality of the sights and the fact they flip down and aren't sticking up like a sore thumb. You will not be disappointed with the quality of these sights. The rear sight has two peepholes that work like a standard M-16 A2 (which I grew up with). Not sure if the rear peeps can be replaced with tritium....The front sight has the standard threaded post that appears to be replaceable with a tritium one (always a good idea). My M-16 had frnt and rear tritium-- a must for the pro... in addition to a good quality forearm light (I had a surefire bolt-on with a forearm pressure switch). Both frnt and rear MBUS flip-ups are worth the money. Just be aware of the offset correction error-- they stick up about 2.5 inches above your barrel, so aim a little high within 50 yards and you'll hit what you want. I used my M-16 A2 for CQB many times and ingrained that fact in my head. Not a big deal. ... show more

I really really like these back ups, they make a hellofa lot more sense then having to take off your optic to get to your irons. I got these for my recce build and really love the look and functionality of them. id give them 4.5 stars if I could..... due to the fact that on 2 different sets and on 2 different handguards, the front sight wiggled when it was fully tightened. nothing a little shim on each side couldn't fix.... I shouldn't have had to do that and magpul needs to look into that problem because I am not the only person who has had that happen. But, if you built your rifle like I did, then you have enough mechanical skills to come up with a solution to the problem. These things kick ass and look sick too =D..... I needed some iron sights for my AR and since I had a scope on this one, the regular BUIS just wouldn't co-witness. This sight is just what I needed. High quality, no plastic, flips up when you need it. Although adjustment is tool-free, it's difficult to adjust and it needs a little more range of adjustment. ... show more

Bought the front and rear 45 degree sights to acquire shots on up close targets versus changing magnification on my sight. With 5 shots I was open sight hitting the bullseye at 50 yards. These sights are super sturdy there is no play in them. I have purposefully been opening and closing them to see if they hold zero and they are spot on.
