Okay, I want to talk a bit about these sights. Magpul makes good stuff, and they are innovative. I have two sets of these sights mounted to a couple of my AR15's. They are lightweight, low profile, durable, economical, and very user friendly. Just click or karate chop it, and it flips up. Push it down and it locks back down. That's it! No weird cross pin style locking mechanisms, no need to push up and lock into place. When time is of the essence, just reach up with your thumb and CLICK! It's in place faster than you can blink an eye! Good sight picture front and rear. They sit really low on the rail when not used. Installation is simple. Just push it on from the end of your AR15's picatinny rail, locate your preferred mounting spot, and put the provided screw through the sight and rail and tighten it with a screwdriver. Really, these sights are idiot-proof... or are they? Magpul should not have to put a disclaimer stating not to mount polymer sights to gas blocks. I figured it was only common sense, but after reading the interwebz and a couple of reviews from here, there are people out there who actually figured you could mount these to gas blocks, until they read the fine print... and the blamed the sights themselves. Like I said, I figured it was common sense, but then again, McDonald's was sued because a woman spilled her coffee in her lap and the cup wasn't labeled "HOT COFFEE." Go figure. Additionally, these sights are engineered to sit on top of accessory rails (rears on AR15 flat top receivers). Of course, you can mount them to other guns, but I'm speaking to the other group of people who can't get them to sight in right because they disregarded common sense and logic and actually mounted these sights to gas blocks, and then fired the gun! Most gas blocks sight below rail height. If you want a gas block mounted sight, buy one specifically designed with the extra height (and metal) in mind. Just don't go around dogging these sights because you didn't read before you installed them. As for durability, some people are saying that because they are plastic, they will break. Okay, well then how do you explain Glocks, FN's, XD's, M&P's and such? Oh I'm sure some have broken, but most plastic guns that are fighting in wars and being used for LE, are holding up just fine to the sort of abuses they are subjected to. My AR15 is my working gun. The MBUS sights installed on it are no exception. That AR rides in the back of pickup trucks, gets used in harsh desert conditions, fears no snow, goes up the rocky mountainsides with me, and generally sees an assortment of things that safe queens and bench rest guns would never dream of. The sights have never shot loose, never cracked, warped, disintegrated, or malfunctioned in any of the ways mentioned in some of the 1-3 star reviews. In fact, despite being on my AR15 for over a year, and accompanying me on just about every outing off pavement and away from the covered range, they still look new, aside from some dirt hiding in some of the small corners. They also cowitness to the lower 1/3rd of an Aimpoint Comp M3 in a Larue LT150 mount.

Pro's: Well Made Accurate/Adjustable and keeps zero after adjustment Ease of Install Operate Easily (flip up/lock down) Priced Right Con's: None that I have been able to find I purchased my wife an AR Flat Top with no sights a couple years ago. I had Yankee Machine Company sights on mine which are fantastic sights but they are very expensive. I had owned several Magpul products over the years and have been well pleased so I thought, for this price, I will give a set (front and back) of these a try. I was extremely pleased. They installed quickly and were very close to zero out of the box. Adjustments work easily and I zeroed these in. They have maintained that zero for almost two years now. Note. I have not removed them for any reason so actually one should not expect loss of zero unless I otherwise caused a problem like a strike against the weapon or dropping the weapon. The sights lock down solidly and flip up at a push of a button that is well placed for easy access. Are they YMC sights? No, they are not. But they are not over $200 for the pair. If you are budget conscious but you demand a product that will work and work every time, you won't go wrong with these. Not only have I recommended them to friends I have two times ordered and installed these for friends.

Rock solid and the original MBUS. Be aware that these slide over the pic rail after removing the screw. The attachment point is not two pieces as in most pic rail applications. This is important is you have a pic rail that is finished in Cerakote or something similar. This makes the rail slightly thicker because of the finish & makes installation slightly more difficult.

New MCX Patrol 16” which also gets a Romeo 8h red dot but wanted backup sights and Magpul had the product. Not a giant fan of the installation which is quite tight. If I was installing another set it would go easier now understanding the process. For me once the screw was removed I had to come to an understanding of the force required to slide it in place. Once I understood that the rear sight was easier. When I fired the rifle for the first time I wanted to use and adjust the pop up sights first and then the red dot. Full disclosure I had adjusted the front sight UP based on a cheap bore laser. Shouldn’t have done that. My first 3 rounds off of a bench at 25 yards were less than an inch in a group but 2” high and 1/2” left. Easy to adjust for that. Once I had the backup sights adjusted which took 12 rounds total I co witnessed the red dot. The red dot was almost spot on and it only took 3 groups of 3 to get acceptable for first day. Over time the dot will undoubtedly get a few very small adjustments for the accuracy the rifle is capable of. 68 grain Hornady match. Personally I am impressed with the accuracy of the backup Magpul sights. I prefer red dot for the ‘both eyes open’ situational awareness but it’s good to have decent back up sights. I was also happy that the backup sights co-witnessed with the Romeo 8h like they were made for each other. By the way my new Sig Sauer MCX Patrol came new with a Magpul folding stock. Apparently Sig likes Magpul just fine. Magpul has become a trusted name and my extra magazines were Magpul, big fan of the window.

I picked up the MBUS for my recently purchased Kel Tec Shotgun (KSG) and they have performed flawlessly. The polymer construction of the sights is rugged yet lightweight and attaches easily and securely on any military style rail. The sight deployment is extremely fast and the variable aperture on the rear sight is much appreciated. Windage is very easy to compensate for, and elevation as well thanks to the included AR front sight tool that is included with the front sight. I sighted my gun in in less than ten minutes without issue. The reason this review is not five stars is due to the strength of the springs in the deployment assembly. I injured myself twice in less than a minute due to the speed of the sights flipping up. The first time, I had the small aperture of the rear sight flipped down and, upon using my thumb to depress the large deployment pad, had it slam right into the cuticle of my thumbnail which immediately started bleeding. The second time, the front sight pinched my other thumb in between the sight post and the base. It is my recommendation to use the small tabs on the side of the sights rather than the larger button up top. Regardless, these work exactly as I expected them to. Great product, great price.
