I’m a general contractor, not a roofer. I have always used a standard hammer on the roofs I’ve shingled. I can say that it is extremely nice to have the right tool for the job. This hammer is a lighter weight hammer than I generally use but it has more than enough punch for roofing nails. That leaves you with a whole lot less fatigue at the end of your day. The magnetic head is absolutely a thumb saver with short nails and cutting shingles with the blade on the back of the hammer is far easier than using a razor knife. My personal advice is to ensure that you tighten the blade in the retracted position. I got lazy and it takes one time to learn that lesson. The hammer works well, it feels good in your hand once you get used to using it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because there are two wing nuts, one on either side to tighten the razor blade into position. It takes two hands where a different bolt would allow for one handed tightening.

I fixed the shingles on the roof and I had to use the hammer for several hours, it is very useful to use because of the magnet, so directly nailing the roof withone hand. The magnet strength is good and can be used to attach nail or screws. The tool can be used as a hammer as well for the normal use. I like the ergonomic design of the handle, it is comfortable even if used for several hours.

So I expected a higher quality item for the cost, the metal looks and feels a bit inexpensive and porous, The magnet on it will hold smaller nails, but it does not seem to be as strong as its advertised, You also need to make sure that the nails you are using are a magnetic type of metal otherwise that function will be useless to you. The wingnuts and blade portion along with the sliding gauge are very clunky and does not work smoothly at all. I wont know until it gets a lot of use to know how long it will last in regards to longevity, but I'm not giving my hopes up. Overall, It will work as a hammer, But I'm afraid the magnet will break since its described as a neodymium magnet, and if you know about them they are fragile and some even break when just dropping them. I will report back after it gets a full use beyond just testing.
