I researched quite a bit before I pulled the trigger on this purchase. There are a lot of 7 piece body hammer and dolly sets out there that are much cheaper, but with those you get even less than what you pay for. This set is about 3 times the cost of those really cheap sets, but in this case you get more than you pay for. These are not by any means professional tools, but they do have some of the qualities of professional grade tools. What they are is, higher than average hobby grade tools. If you are just working on an occasional project or just learning to do body work in general, these tools will serve you well. By the time you wear these out, you'll appreciate what makes a professional grade hammer and dolly set so expensive. And you even get a case that doesn't fall apart the first time you open it! ... show more

The box came completely opened and crushed. The hammers themselves looks like good quality and don't seem to have suffered any damaged at first glance, which is surprising because the box was destroyed when it arrived. Amazon packaging is just garbage, just like whomever delivered this. The only disappointment is the death blow is the smallest one but the others are what I needed ... show more

I have not used these yet but wanted to upload some better pictures and review them after my initial inspection. For the price and the lack of decent competition in this price range I would say these are a safe bet if you are like me and want an introductory set of hammers and dollies that is not complete garbage. The hickory handles are straight and free of defects. Not that it bothers me but the finish of the wood is relatively rough. all the working metal surfaces are well polished and I believe they are clear coated, I'm not sure if that is standard practice but it will be interesting to see how the finish holds up. Overall there are no real surprises, Gearwrench is not top of the line but they get you about 90% there. ... show more
