Top Amazon Reviews

  • A simple and easy 5 stars
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
The quick rundown. These CR4-X are a replacement for my old CR3 that were fried during an massive power surge (that went through a surge protector). I am purely happy with them. These are probably the only speakers on the market that far surpass all desktop speakers but fall below that studio tier of mixing speakers. For the price point, these can’t be beat. They have a full, rich sound. If you want to crank some music, run them as-is. If you want to mix some music, stuff the ports with a sock. If you do that, the sound is flatter for a truer neutral mix. On a lot of reviews of things you see people mention, “if these ever break I’ll buy them again!” In this case, it’s actually true…and I upgraded from the 3” to the 4”. Get some! ... show more

  • Pretty good, wide sound range, has some fuzz
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
I'm a musician, gamer, movie buff, IT professional. I use these for everything. The sound profile of these speakers is great coming through my Focusrite audio interface. But no matter how I isolate the power and audio cables, change out USB and balanced audio cables, there is a hint of electronic fuzz that just can't go away. For my audio work, I've already adjusted for this and learned to ignore it, but I roll my eyes everytime I turn them on before a session. ... show more

  • Zero Hiss
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
I just got these, unpacked the box , and plugged in. First impressions: Very Good. This is a provisional 5-star review, based on very solid and clean sound, and no hiss at all. Many reviewers mentioned objectionable hiss, but I'm not hearing it. (Maybe someone at Mackie read the reviews??) I got these for my small apartment studio mixing desk. It is true, as mentioned, that these don't sound beautiful - but they are not designed for pleasure listening (that's what my Polk pair, as well as Cambridge satellite/Bose sub combo are for). These are for mixing my own recording projects, mostly consisting of acoustic guitars, bass, and vocals. As such, I am looking forward to getting back in the swing of writing and recording - which Covid lockdowns and then open-heart surgery put a halt to a while back. Fortunately I'm healthy now! Wishing everyone Peace in 2022. ... show more

  • Great monitors - Crx-4
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
I'm using these to play my guitar through with an amp sim through Reaper. They sound fantastic. There were complaints in other reviews about a constant hissing noise that made me hesitant to buy them. However, I either got a good set or they fixed the issue. My set don't hiss at all. If it wasn't for the power light, I wouldn't even know they were on. With the right set up in my daw, these sound like a $1000 head and cab minus the volume one puts out. Plenty loud enough though. Just a tip, if you are using these for a daw setup, use 1/4" cables into them. Increases sound quality drastically. ... show more

  • Pretty good
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
In order to have a good mix try these monitors. They are reasonably priced, but can get loud if needed.

  • I'm very impressed with the Mackie CR4-X
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
I'm going to start with the cons. With the out of the box wiring, these monitors do not sound well. They crackle, pop the bass sounds muddy and the highs are harsh. Now the Pro. With "premium cables" these monitors really shine. Luckily I had a set of 3.5mm TRS to RCA stereo breakout cables and 14AWG OFC speaker cable laying around. I threw aside the stock wires and instead used the above mentioned. These speakers now sound crisp and clean. No muddy bass or harsh highs anymore. Aside from having to toss aside the out of the box wiring, these monitors are definitely a great buy and definitely will give you that studio sound. ... show more

  • Best 100 dollar speakers I've owned.
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
These speakers are amazing for the price range. I got them for studio work and light gaming. These are a great value and perform way outside of their price range of about $100.00

  • Speakers have a hiss no matter what volume it is set at
Size: 4-Inch Style: Standard Pattern Name: Monitors
I listen to music all day at low volume and these speakers are hissing about as loud as my music. Sound quality is good at moderate to higher volumes, the hiss is constant no matter the volume. Returned them and bought cheaper Edifier MR4's and they only hiss when the volume is set high and there is no audio through them which is 100% acceptable. ... show more
