  • Good but with some flaws. Works for what I am using it for.
Style: Clear 29"L x 56"W x 77"H 3 Tiers and 6 S...
So far I like it. I have had two plants in it that I am rehabbing from being exposed to an unexpected hard freeze. I have it in my garage and so far it seems to hold in moisture pretty well and when the light is on there is a temperature difference. I haven't gotten a thermometer yet but that is next on my list. Putting it together was fine for the most part. I used the advice from the other reviewers and zip tied the shelves to the frame. The shelving isn't as wide as the frame. It won't be an issue for me because I am starting seeds in trays but if you wanted to put pots towards the edges you would have to put a tray or something down to close the gap. It's supposed to come apart but I don't know if it will come apart well. We move a lot, so I really need it to come apart and that was my initial appeal to it. The problem is, everything is made in china. My father is an engineer in the plastic injection molding industry and has been for over 30+ years. I grew up pulling apart molds. The molding that puts this thing together is an atrocity. From a industry viewpoint it's the cheapest crap I have seen in a while. No two pieces are alike (the ones that are supposed to be). I don't know if the mold wasn't built well or if they are using the wrong kind of plastic or cheap/wrong kind of plastic. It's essentially like putting together pvc piping, except your pvc fittings aren't straight and/or look as though they had melted in the press, so putting the pieces together is a massive project. From a consumer viewpoint I was disappointed and annoyed that something that has a great design idea was made so cheaply and was a pain in the ass to put together. Also, what a cheap piece of crap. NOW maybe I got a bad set of fittings. But that would mean every single fitting that was sent to me was bad. The scary part is that not all the fittings were even messed up in the same way. It looks like the plastic couldn't set before it came out of the machine. I am giving this 4 stars because, 1. almost everything is made in china and we are at the mercy of their shotty manufacturing practices, 2. Once put together it has been serving me well and seems sturdy 3. minus the cheap shelving and having to zip tie them to the frame. They work the way I need them to. I have heavy trays on them and they seem to be able to handle it. 4. You get what you pay for. If this was made in America it would have been much more expensive. I also couldn't really find anything similar that wasn't a big "to-do" to take a part and put together & was as compact when taken apart (we move a lot). Overall it's decent but definitely has it's flaws. Could the manufacturing of it be better, absolutely. Could the shelving be better, absolutely. But it suffices for what I am using it for, seed starting and plant rehab. Side note- Since I am starting seeds and using LED lights I was worried about light loss. I got a cheap mylar and covered the entire outside of it and my light loss problem is no more. I have it my garage currently and wasn't planning on putting it outside. ... show more

  • Helped me visualize my space and gives me a place to keep a few outdoor tools
Style: Clear 29"L x 56"W x 77"H 3 Tiers and 6 S...
I got this Ogrow greenhouse because the price was right and I wanted to get a feel for what kind of permanent structure would work best in a strip between our walkway and house that I wind up dumping junk in. The dimensions were absolutely perfect for the spot, which is accessed by a gate and has a dryer vent in the way for most of what I've thought of putting there (e.g., a deck box). The shelves do need to be zip-tied on to make them sturdy, but the zip-ties were included with the kit as well as the anchor poles and tie-down ropes. If you do what I've learned to do with any kit, you should have no trouble. First use their inventory listing to check off all pieces and be sure everything is there. Nothing was missing from my kit. This helps you familiarize yourself with all the pieces so it's easier to put them together when it's time. I found the diagram and brief instructions to be just fine, and I had the whole house put together in no time. My only problem with it is I don't understand how the little two-holed metal pieces (tensioners?) on the ropes are supposed to work and be placed. I hope somebody here can explain it to me. I plan to keep a few garden tools that I wind up leaving out in the rain inside the greenhouse (using a few paver stones as a middle floor to keep them up off the ground) and put winter-sowing flats inside this winter, probably leaving the door open unless I know it's going to be really bad weather. I'm also planning to keep the detailed parts list, which has the dimensions of the poles, because I think I could build one of similar size using PVC pipe if this one turns out not to be sturdy enough for my needs. ... show more

  • Great small gee house for starting seedlings.
Style: Green 56"L x 56"W x 77"H 2 Tiers and 8 S...
This is my second one of these greenhouses. I left my old one behind when I moved to a new property. I made mistakes with the first one that I will not make with this one. For one thing, I left the cover on all winter. It ripped at the zipper areas. The other thing I did not do was tie it down well enough. The provided stakes are not nearly long enough. All that said, this time the box arrived demolished. Of course, I inventoried the parts, the several were missing. I called the phone number for Ogrow provided. Great customer service. I had thine missing parts two days later. This time, I will take the cover off and store it over the winter. I also plan to put a strap over the top and tie it down to t-posts. I may put t-posts in the corners as well. Maybe I’ll try ratchet straps over the top. I’ll also zip tie the shelves down. ... show more

  • Over all not unhappy with the unit, but be aware.....
Style: Clear 29"L x 56"W x 77"H 3 Tiers and 6 S...
Note, there is a huge aspect of you get what you pay for with this, so while I'm going to list things that I have a problem, with I'm doing so more as a heads up for folks buying these than because I'm really upset. This unit is replacing two of the smaller greenhouses. It cost less than buying two of those smaller ones, has almost identical shelf space, and takes up only marginally more space than they did. As a bonus, the walk way between the shelves is big enough to fit the frame from one of the smaller units, so I've added extra shelf space for less money. As a general rule, as long as I remember to pull the plastic cover off, and put it away once my weather is warm enough in the summer, the cover will last a couple years. But yes, if you leave the cover out in the weather year around it'll deteriorate really quick. Its the nature of the beast. I really like the little window vents on the side. However when they're closed they're only held that way with two little pieces of velcro at the bottom, so they don't actually CLOSE very well. I may add some sticky backed velcro to the rest of the window edges to help hold it closed and prevent cold weather seap. My biggest issue with this model: The shelf dimensions given are the shelf FRAME dimensions. The grates that are what you actually put your plants on are over 3" shorter than the frames! While this isn't the end of the world its probably the biggest reason for why I only gave this 4 stars. ... show more
