As desktop speakers, these are really great - beyond my ability to discriminate, really. These would be a five star product, but there's an _extremely_ annoying feature: When the speakers have been idle for some time, they power down and it takes several seconds for them to power up again. Amount other things, this means that you can't rely on these speakers for notifications or other unscheduled, short audio. It's also simply irritating to spend several seconds waiting for the speakers to power up again each time you want to start something. Oh, well. They're quite good otherwise, and clearly it wasn't a big enough problem for me to return them. ... show more

The woofers and tweeters are completely exposed, no protection at all , so you need to be very careful while cleaning the dust of them, the tweeters feel very soft to the touch and very easy to dent .

    • Awesome speakers but bad cables and more…
Style: No Bluetooth Size: Pair 4.5" Speakers
The speakers are awesome. They are loud and clear. I love the multiple inputs, especially the BALANCED 1/4” TBS jacks and the low profile look. They are priced high but these are powerful studio speakers, far more powerful than others priced in this range. The chief complaint is with the cables. These should not have been provided with the unit. The 3.5 to 3.5 plug when connected to a computer with a metal chassis like my Dell Inspiron 3 in 1 will generate a loud buzz due to a ground fault somewhere. A better grounded cable will eliminate this but these are STUDIO speakers requiring a balanced connection. I attached a Bluetooth adapter to this using the RCA plugs and the cheap RCA cable provided and the sound was crystal clear and flawless only because BT avoids ground issues. These cheap RCA cables would produce equally bad buzz and ground issues if plugged directly into the computer jack. REMEMBER THESE ARE STUDIO MONITORS not traditional desktop speakers. You SHOULD BE USING only quality 1/4 inch TBS to 1/4 inch TBS cables running this to an audio interface like the M-Audio M-Track Duo or Solo. The reason for this is to establish a “BALANCED” vs the “UNBALANCED” connection. Anyone complaining of hum or buzz should connect using ONLY the balanced method since balanced connections eliminate hum and interference by nature of the balanced architecture. If you plan to use a DAW for professional audio use, these speakers are designed for this purpose because of the “balanced” option not available with simple desktop speakers. So ditch the 3.5 to 3,5 cable, use the RCA plug only with a BT adaptor and install a 1/4” TBS cable to an audio interface for impeccable sound quality. ... show more

So I bought the BX4's to replace my failed AV40's. Initial impressions pulling it out of the box was how much lighter each speaker was compared to what they were replacing. Not the end of the world but they just felt cheaper because of it. Hooked them up to my PC and powered them on and gave them a whirl with a variety of music and they sound great!!! Upsides to them: * Definitely got some bass to them * Knobs to control lows and highs is an awesome addition. * Ability to power off on the volume knob * Sound superb for what you paid But there are some downsides: * Aux cannot be plugged in all the time like used to be able to do with the AV40, have to unplug my chromecast audio when i'm not using it. Can be rectified other ways of course but its a bummer. * The volume knob. IDK if its just my speakers or what but I cannot exceed 1/4 of the total knob range without it being blown out distorted destroy your eardrums loud, which presents a problem because there isn't fine grain use of the entire range then, its basically off, lowest volume at talking level, and rock concert loud * the connection between speakers. I'd honestly preferred if they'd have just used normal speaker terminals or even like a balanced XLR cable or something, not a silly TS 3.5mm cord thats too short. ... show more

For the price, these speakers are a good value. The sound isn't as good as decent studio monitors, but it would be unfair to compare. Caveats. BAD, BAD cables. The included left speaker cable (3.5mm mono to 3.5mono) is problematic. Disconnect and pop intermittently. By spinning a few times in the connector, the cable worked. But, it reflects badly on the speakers. Then, the included stereo RCA to 3.5mm cable causes so much static and humming noise that it is USELESS trash. I verified this by replacing it with an old cable from my studio monitors, and the noise disappeared. At this price point, buyers would complain if cables weren't included. Personally, I would have preferred a better quality Right to Left speaker cable, and a good quality 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable. ... show more
