This rope is far better quality, and much stronger than you’ll generally find at the box stores. It does appear to be suitable for descending/tree-work/fall protection. - The listing claims CE Certification of EN 892:2012+A1:2016 Standards (Certificate No.: WUX202209163895S) and does appear to be a quality rope. - The carabiners are steel, and appear to be strong, but they are not marked/rated. - The eyelets are plastic; metal would be better. - The carry bag is thin and dainty, but it’s nice that it came with one. - The rope is a little stiff, which is to be expected. ... show more

This is s nice rope that I feel comfortable with. I’m not worried about it breaking or fraying easily. It’s tightly woven and lightweight. It supports my 250 lbs nicely.

Very strong, durable rope made for climbing and rigging. This is a static rope (no stretch) but it is definitely rated for climbing. the stitching at the ends keeps the loop strong and safe. No abrasions or weak spots to speak of. The spool comes tightly wound and wrapped for shipping and storage so you will need to unspool and let it hang to get some of the memory out of it but it's ready to use right out of the box. First off, I’m not a climber but I am a sailor and have been around ropes, lines, and cordage since I was eight years old. I’m using this line for marine purposes, and it is excellent for that use. As the description says, this is static rope – it has no stretch to it at all, which means that if or when the maximum load – 5100 pounds – is exceeded, it will snap without warning. But its working load of 4188 pounds is far beyond any load or shock load I will ever subject it to! The line is well-made, easily cut to length and the jacket is both thick and abrasion-proof under normal usage. It’s not indestructible and so anyone with a grain of sense will take very good care of it. The line has a good “hand” to it; although heavy, it is comfortably flexible. This is a rope that will work *with* you, not against you, and takes knots easily and securely. It runs through pulleys and around bights without complaint and without snagging. It is a good rope and fit for a wide variety of purposes where strength and dependability are required. ... show more

I'm not a climber, but I plan to use this rope as a safety line when I'm up on a ladder, as well as other general purpose uses. This rope feels really well made. The layup is quite stiff in the hand and feels substantial, and the sheath has a good, tightly woven texture. The eyes on each end are formed by doubling the rope back on itself and then sewing the parallel sections together. It's not a traditional eye splice like I'm used to, but it feels like it should be strong and perhaps it's the way climbing ropes are done. The thimbles are flexible plastic. The included carabiners are heavy steel and feel like they should be very strong. They're sort of a bonus that you get on top of some very nice rope. A drawstring bag is also included, but I'd guess it will be tough to get the rope to fit back into the bag once it's been un-coiled for the first use. Overall, this is a very substantial feeling rope and seems to me like a very good value for what you get as well. ... show more

The rope had no kinks or blemishes that I could find when I initially checked it out, though it was a bit stiff. Each end has an sewn loop with a plastic eyelet (this is plainly visible in the listing, though one the photos indicates this thimble is made of steel). For rock climbing, we generally use a dynamic rope which is intended to stretch slightly as this reduces the forces on someone when they fall. Static ropes do not have much (if any) stretch. For setting up a rope swing or hauling stuff this should be fine, but I certainly wouldn't make it my go-to for a remote adventure. The rope also came with a steel carabiner for each loop. As these carabiners have no markings for their load rating, I'd be hesitant to rely on them for something critical to life/safety. Also, since the loop at each end is sewn you may not be able to use the rope in a pulley or some belay devices (nor tie directly into a harness). I may cut off the loops and refinish each end so I can tie my own loops/knots. I do like that it came with a storage bag perfectly sized to the rope. ... show more

As others have mentioned, the picture that says the thimbles are stainless steel is false; they're simply plastic. Given that, I'm not sure how much trust to put into any of the manufacture's claims. The rope itself looks and feels like it is well-made from quality materials. The included carabiners are heavy and seem pretty good, but don't include any information about their load capacity. Since this is a static rope, you need to be careful with what you use it for. Using it to catch a sudden fall (rock climbing or as a safety rope for working up high) would be a bad plan since there is no shock absorption. This rope is plenty strong enough to catch you (assuming the manufacture's claimed strenght is even half correct), but it would hurt. It would be great for rappelling though, or securing gear, or a lot of other uses. ... show more
