Our Dipper with cast iron head is shaped for easy, accurate pouring and prevents air pockets in the finished bullet. In addition, the cast iron keeps the alloy warm while pouring. The long stem Dipper can also be used for stirring molten lead alloys. Wooden handle stays cool in use.

Works well with a Lee Magnum pot, especially if you remove the bottom pour. Use it for casting pellets. Holds more than enough to cast four pellets at a time without cooling off. This works great for my bullets. I have started low tech and use a pot for my lead and the dipper pours great every time. It holds enough lead to fill two bullets at a time, (more I am sure, but that is the kind I have). Just follow the directions on how to use it propperly and it won't let you down. I like the fact that you have a choice of which side to place the handle. I switched the handle to the other side as I am more comfortable pouring with my other hand. Well made tool. ... show more

    • works fine but not quite for my needs
I really should have bought a regular ladle for pouring in to the Lee slug mold - I got this one thinking I could do smaller amounts of lead at a time but it takes quite a bit of time to heat up with a propane torch, and is more work than just melting a larger pot (though the one I'm using is pretty shallow and makes this dipper harder to use than a slightly modified long handled regular stainless steel cooking spoon (like a for camping)). I'm sure this works great for a deeper melting pot if you keep it hot enough to pour into the molds. - Note: Lee mold paperwork also states that using a dipper like this will heat the aluminum mold unevenly (if you put the mold on the spout and pour by tipping both together) and could cause premature wear... Since I ordered them all at the same time I didn't notice that until later. Anyway still a well built product and probably works great for it's intended purposes or non-aluminum molds. ... show more

    • Great ladle for fishing weights and lures. I was able to get approximately 4oz pours out of this.
I was looking for a ladle to help with incomplete fills of fishing weights and lures. I have tried the basic top open ladle and this worked ok but I have much better control with this ladle. As far as fill capacity goes, I have seen many different responses so I thought I would pitch in my two cents. I was able to pour approximately 4oz with the ladle and this seemed to be close to the maximum fill capacity. You may be able to get slightly more out of it but this was filling the ladle to a point of no spillage out of the spout. I have gotten much better pours and results using this ladle. Won’t have a chance to use this for 3 weeks, and am excited to do so. It’s so simple in the design but so completely fulfills all of my requirements for casting small tokens. I believe I will be pouring 3 tokens at a time with the amount of tin I can melt in the ladle. I’m expecting to be more productive by pouring from the bottom of the ladle and not having to control the surface dross pouring each token. Can’t wait to get home from vacation. ... show more
