  • Vibratory tumblers rock!
Big fan of vibratory tumblers for all manner of light uses. If you've got volumes of heavy duty stuff, you probably want a standard roller. But for smaller, lighter, or finer work a vibratory tumbler is much easier to manage. Note that these are NOT heavy duty machines. They do best when lightly loaded and run cleanly. That doesn't mean you can't fill it up with lots of stuff -- but again, target smaller, lighter & finer pieces. These are also ideal for small runs. You can add a couple of their 600 level bowls to keep media separate and manage individual runs with different abrasives. My wife loves this for polymer clay where she can customize the media to the specific level of polish she wants. Note that vibratory tumblers are not great for removing media. They can but it may take forever. Vibratory tumblers are much better for smoothing, polishing, and burnishing. You'll need to plan on a good deal of trial and error to find the combination of abrasives that works for what you need. But once you do, this is a much easier way to manage the whole process. ... show more

  • worked for 30 seconds and the motor died.
first off the first thing i noticed when opening the package was that the corn cob media was sent in two cheaply made plastic baggies that naturally had torn open at some point and left corn cob everywhere. it does not come with the nice resealable plastic container that is clearly shown in the item description pictures. after cleaning all that up we move onto to set up which was simple. two quick rubber insulate nuts and a threaded rod and its ready. i put some of the media in the bowl along with a few casings. a lot less then what its rated for. the switch was left in the on position which makes no difference. i plugged it into the outlet, it turned on for a few seconds and then the motor suddenly started to fluctuate in speed before simply shutting itself off. now it does nothing at all. this was my first Lyman purchase. i did my research and found that Lyman had good customer service which did help sway my decision to step outside my normal companies i usually buy from. however in this situation they are closed due to covid 19 and i had to return it to amazon for a refund in order to make the return deadline. in the end i do find myself disappointed in the product and probably will buy from one of my other go to companies. ... show more

  • Lyman Tumber
I have only used this three times. Need to check that nuts are tight each time as one came loose on the third cleaning. I only do 100 cases at a time using the approved corncobs. I think there are cheaper alternatives. There is no timer which I have to remedy. Two hours worked well. Also I run it in the garage because of the noise and dust. The metal tumblers are probably better but twice the price. ... show more

  • Comes with 2 lbs material in bags; works fine
The unit is easy to use and set up. Make sure that you crank down on the rubber nuts because they will wiggle themselves loose if you don't tighten them down properly. I've run about 1000 9mm thru and it works just fine. After a couple hours the brass is nice and cleaned up and ready to use. I don't need it to be OEM or factory shiny, so it's fine to go only a couple of hours. ... show more

  • MADE IN THE USA
This tumbler is a very nice product. I use it to polish brass shell casings after I have cleaned them ultra sonically. It comes with two 1 lb packs of corn cob media for the polishing process. The machine is easy to assemble and comes with a very good set of instructions. Lyman (the manufacturer) is a very reputable company producing a quality product line. ... show more

  • Great tumbler for the price.
Great tumbler, I've long used this model, got a new one because I lost the old one. Only problem was it came slightly damaged during shipping. A small chip of plastic had broken off the base the bowl sits on. Talked to Lyman and they said no problem and if I had one let them know. Already have used it for a couple of hours to clean brass. Works just like me 40yr old used to do :-) ... show more

  • Total garbage. Anything is better than this.
Run from this garbage. First, the media that came with this is NOT what is advertised. It make almost clean brass filthy. The open lid is flimsy and does a horrible job sifting. This garbage is being returned. RUN from this horrible purchase.

  • Decade old brass now super clean.
Works great, would by another. Had brass a decade old, Ran about 3000 through it the first week, no problems. It does make a bit of dust while it tumbles and found that a plastic grocery bag over the top confined it within.
