    • Great furnace
After3 years of trying to keep up with the ammo demands of youth shooting team using a lee furnace I decided to switch over to Lyman. I had been producing about 750 bullets and hour with a 4 cavity lyman mold. I really wasn't expecting to get much of an increase in production by just switching the furnace but jumped up to around 1200 an hour That alone made it worth the money. The digital temperature control works great. Putting a 3 pound lead ingot into the pot I see the temp dip 4 or 5 degrees but never get the pot to freeze up like I did with the lee. I guess the larger capacity of the pot helps with the freeze up also. The pot comes up to temp quickly usually around 15 minute. I haven't tried a lee mold yet but the mold guide works good. I put a little Lyman's super molly lube on the tracks and that helped galling with the iron mold sliding on the aluminum. ... show more

Been using this for over a year it has been flawless, tempered control is fantastic on it. Definitely recommend if you're doing any casting.

    • Disappointed
This product is pricey in my opinion. That said, I've returned my first order that was defective and preused. My replacment order is also preused. I didnt pay all that money for a used product. It would be fine if it was discounted, but sadly it is not.

    • Great smelting pot
So far, I love this pot. I went through over 20 lbs of lead on the first use and it worked great. The pour spigot does clog up occassionally, when lead cools too much between pours, but you can knock it loose again. However, that is a petty annoyance compared to the convenience of having the pour spout. I was pouring 14 oz slugs for a small 30mm cannon, so being able to fill the mould quickly enough to prevent uneven cooling was a huge plus. Finally, I've seen a few reviews where folks complain that it appears their pots have been used before. If you read the manual (which, I know, is something no one ever does), it says that there might be lead residue from a test run they do in every pot before it leaves the factory. That is most likely what these reviewers are seeing. Mine had some as well and it hasn't affect it's functionality one iota. ... show more

I want to begin by saying I’m new to casting and I’m very happy I skipped starting out with a Lee pot like a lot of casters and went ahead and spent the money to start out with what has to be one of the best furnaces out there. I have read some of the reviews complaining about the guide track not accepting certain branded molds and though it is true the Lyman molds seem to work best I made a small customization to the thin metal plate the guide rides on and opened up more room for my cheaper Lee molds!! If you want a upgrade to a pot with digital temperature than this is the one to buy!! ... show more

    • I wanted to like it alot, it gets 1 star as a honest review.
And I did until I opened the box. First the handle was made backwards at the factory. This is not user serviceable. I decided to print a return label at that point. Being I had it in my possession why not see how it performs!! I installed the NEO upgrade mold plate and the pid fired up and it worked pretty darn good. I turned it off after a coupe hours use. Hmm, I was thinking about keeping it. Decided to turn it on again and make up my mind for sure. As bad luck would have it, the pid turned on, but the pot would not heat up. I tried the trick of plugging and unplugging many many times. The pid just died on the heating element. This was on the same day I received it. This smelter is almost 4 times more expensive then the Lee 4-20 pot. I had ordered another Lyman mag 25 to give them a fair shot. However, with all this Covid-19 nightmare I ended up cancelling being it was going to take about a month to get to me. Now I see the Lyman is selling for over $350 instead of the $289 I paid. Really?! When things calm down I will order all the parts from Amazon and build my own pid for my lee. No its not the same quality as the Lyman. But at least it melts lead. Perhaps I will give them another try, but not with the current price manipulation. ... show more

    • Great melting pot
This Melting Pot is feature-rich and very durable. I highly recommend it to anybody making their own fishing sinkers or reloading. This pot is second to none. It is more expensive than an RCBS pot but the extra money is well worth it.

    • Great Machine when you get one that works
The idea of a digital furnace was better than the product. When I plugged in the first one it went up to temp right away. Melted my lead, poured my bars. Great. Next day it would not get above 95 degrees. Tried multiple times to plug and unplug as suggested by some. Easy Return. Got replacement same problem. Easy Return. Even though the Amazon update said the replacement was processing two weeks later I still had not received a replacement. After talking to customer service I received a third unit a week later. Got third unit. It has now worked three times in a row. When it works it works great. It is like the lottery if you get a good one or not. ... show more
