Features

  • BACK HEALTH - These twin futons are somewhat thin so you do not sleep on a fully padded surface. You are sleeping on a firm surface which aligns your spine that leads to less back pains and less back problems.
  • COMFORTABLE AND PORTABLE: The traditional Japanese futon mattress is also called Shiki futon and it is very comfortable to sleep in, despite being thin layered. It can even be used as a yoga or meditation mat since it can be folded easily. Since it is also lightweight you can pack it and use it for traveling, camping, and outings
  • EXPANSION - Please allow this Shikibuton 3 full days minimum to expand completely. Seeing that it is packed air tight, it needs some time come around to full form and size.
  • SPECIFICATION: The exact dimension of the mattress is 39" x 83" and it is twin long. The fabric is 100% organic and natural cotton, highly durable and soft material that's very easy to clean and has no offensive smell.

  • Great product, just needs a mat
Size: Twin-long 39" x 83" With Sheet Color: White
I really like this futon. I bought the twin XL and sheet combo, which I recommend. The sheet is a fitted sheet, and fits over the futon quite well. The sheet has plenty of material so it won’t come off accidentally. I love how much floor space I have in my bedroom now. It’s a little firm when it’s directly on the floor for my taste (I’m a side sleeper). After doing some more reading about futons, it seems like they are meant to be used in conjunction with a tatami mat. I’ve got one on order and I’m pretty confident it will sort my situation out when it arrives. ... show more

  • Great Bed BUT Not For Everyone
This is a great bed, however it is extremely important to point out that this bed is not going to be for everyone, it’s most likely not going to be what you’re expecting at first; and it’s going to take some getting used to. The mattress with extra padding is about 3-4” thick, this doesn’t mean that it’s plush though; it’s comfortable, but don’t expect to sink into the mattress like it’s a feather bed or memory foam. Getting a tatami sleeping mat, or similar sleeping mat for underneath the futon is essential, especially if your house has hardwood floors. The mat underneath adds comfort and also helps keep your mattress clean. This is a Higher Maintenance Mattress than Western Mattresses. Mold grows easily in these mattresses, mites are also attracted to them easily-keep this in mind if you live in a hot, humid climate. The mattress must be aired out anywhere from once a week to twice or more. To air them out, they should ideally be hung out on a clothes line in the sun, or on a clothing rack/chairs/etc. to allow it to dry. This is also where the folding everything up comes into play. It’s highly discouraged to leave a Futon like this laying out flat for days at a time, due to higher risk of attracting mold. So even if it’s not time to air out the mattress, you still should be folding up the sleeping mat, the futon, and your bedding; this way it’s not laying flat permanently. On the bright side, I’ve never slept better than I have on this, but that’s just me. I’m a light sleeper, the tension in western beds wakes me easily, for some reason I personally find myself in pain after sleeping on a western mattress for too long. I still experience some pain sleeping on this mattress, but I’m still getting used to it, however, I don’t feel any tension with this Mattress at all. I wake up far less than I used to. It also does help with back pain...BUT! This bed is not for everyone, it should not be taken as a miracle cure for back problems, or more serious forms of chronic back pain. However it does force the body to engage back muscles we often don’t use, I personally find that it’s been helpful, but that is just how my body’s responding. If none of this has deterred you yet, then I’d say the futon is worth a try. If you’re genuinely having some doubts after reading all of that, that’s good too. Hopefully some of this might’ve helped you make an informed decision. ... show more

  • Heaven!
Size: Twin-long 39" x 83" Color: White
Perfect! For a year or two before my wife and I got married, I got tired of being uncomfortable in bed and started sleeping on the floor on and off, usually with just a sleeping bag or a few quilts as padding. I went back and forth for about a year but the stretches of floor-sleeping got longer and longer. By the time I was engaged, I was sleeping on the floor exclusively. When we got married and started shopping for a bed together, the sales lady at the furniture store kept trying to sell us rediculously thick foam mattresses costing over $1000. I kept asking for something hard and firm. Frustrated, she finally pointed at a nice box-spring and said "There, is that hard enough for you?!" I laid on it, felt my back stretch out and a few vertebrae popping back into place and I said, "Yes! It's perfect!" She threw her hands up in the air and walked away while my wife looked around embarrassed. We settled on getting some risers to fit a California King sized bed and bought a nice soft Twin XL for my wife. She got the mattress, I got the box spring and put a thick sheet of particle board on top to even the two sides out. I took several old blankets and quilts and put them under the sheet for padding and it's been AMAZING! It's too hard for my wife, so it totally protects my territory in bed (wives can be so greedy with bed-space, yknow?) and I can still roll over to her side for cuddling and back to mine when it's time to sleep. The blanket-pad has been great but needs regular adjusting and shifting back in place, and it doesn't quite cover the whole board. So, finally, after 6 and a half years, I started looking around for a real pad to put on my bed. No foam, blech, I'll be eating Advil for a week if I sleep on foam. Something thick and dense like the consistency of 4 blankets folded up on each other. I found this futon pad and took a chance on it. I almost just bought some quilt batting to sew together in several layers, but it was going to cost me just as much and be more work. It came in the mail today and it's PERFECT! A little big and hangs over the edges a bit, but I'm sure that'll not be any problem, protects the kids from the edges of the board, I mean bed, anyway :-) I think I'm in love already, laying in it as I write this. Now I just have to convince my wife this is the way to go still. She's unconvinced, but only has complaints about her bed and how uncomfortable her soft mattress is. Someday, I'm sure she'll come around.... ;-) ... show more

  • Better than expected
So full disclosure, I did not put this directly on the floor. I had a mattress topper (foampad) underneath it, but all in all, this was the best bed I ever had. I didn't have any back pain once I started sleeping on it, and even my roommates were confused as to why this was comfier than their own beds(one of which would take naps on it sometimes). Only problem was that it doesn't fold completely, but it is still easy to manage/carry/transport. Overall, an awesome purchase! ... show more
