  • COMFORTABLE AND PORTABLE: The traditional Japanese futon mattress is also called Shiki futon and it is very comfortable to sleep in, despite being thin layered. It can even be used as a yoga or meditation mat since it can be folded easily. Since it is also lightweight you can pack it and use it for traveling, camping, and outings
  • EXPANSION - Please allow this Shikibuton 3 full days minimum to expand completely. Seeing that it is packed air tight, it needs some time come around to full form and size.
  • SPECIFICATION: The exact dimension of the mattress is 39" x 83" and it is twin long. The fabric is 100% organic and natural cotton, highly durable and soft material that's very easy to clean and has no offensive smell.

  • Heaven!
Size: Twin 39" x 83" Style: No Sheet Cover
Perfect! For a year or two before my wife and I got married, I got tired of being uncomfortable in bed and started sleeping on the floor on and off, usually with just a sleeping bag or a few quilts as padding. I went back and forth for about a year but the stretches of floor-sleeping got longer and longer. By the time I was engaged, I was sleeping on the floor exclusively. When we got married and started shopping for a bed together, the sales lady at the furniture store kept trying to sell us rediculously thick foam mattresses costing over $1000. I kept asking for something hard and firm. Frustrated, she finally pointed at a nice box-spring and said "There, is that hard enough for you?!" I laid on it, felt my back stretch out and a few vertebrae popping back into place and I said, "Yes! It's perfect!" She threw her hands up in the air and walked away while my wife looked around embarrassed. We settled on getting some risers to fit a California King sized bed and bought a nice soft Twin XL for my wife. She got the mattress, I got the box spring and put a thick sheet of particle board on top to even the two sides out. I took several old blankets and quilts and put them under the sheet for padding and it's been AMAZING! It's too hard for my wife, so it totally protects my territory in bed (wives can be so greedy with bed-space, yknow?) and I can still roll over to her side for cuddling and back to mine when it's time to sleep. The blanket-pad has been great but needs regular adjusting and shifting back in place, and it doesn't quite cover the whole board. So, finally, after 6 and a half years, I started looking around for a real pad to put on my bed. No foam, blech, I'll be eating Advil for a week if I sleep on foam. Something thick and dense like the consistency of 4 blankets folded up on each other. I found this futon pad and took a chance on it. I almost just bought some quilt batting to sew together in several layers, but it was going to cost me just as much and be more work. It came in the mail today and it's PERFECT! A little big and hangs over the edges a bit, but I'm sure that'll not be any problem, protects the kids from the edges of the board, I mean bed, anyway :-) I think I'm in love already, laying in it as I write this. Now I just have to convince my wife this is the way to go still. She's unconvinced, but only has complaints about her bed and how uncomfortable her soft mattress is. Someday, I'm sure she'll come around.... ;-) ... show more

  • Comfort
Size: Twin 39" x 83" Style: Sheet Cover Included
The fact I have the perfect bed for a guy who lives a spartan lifestyle is a dream come true since it’s not only the perfect size, it’s easy to manage and maintain and should I need the extra space in my room or need to make an accommodation it’s no problem at all, all in all it was definitely the best investment I made this year ... show more

  • Amazing!
Size: Twin 39" x 83" Style: No Sheet Cover
I use this to sleep on every night and plan on buying a few more for my son and any guests. Sometimes my 4 year old will sleep with me on a twin size, though I am really small for an adult. I bought this because I was bothered by the size of typical western beds. I had previously slept in a full size bed, but found that I was tossing and turning too much to get a good night sleep, it also took up so much of the room that I didn't have space for a desk or bookshelves. Having a futon that I can roll up during the day allows me to have the space to use the space for other things during the day, and then when those are put away, I can lay out the futon and go to sleep. As a side note, I highly suggest a waterproof mattress pad if you have kids, it's help save the futon from a few spills (long enough that I can take care of the spill). This is also lighter than the other brands of futons, which enables me to easily move it around the house and to air it out, which is a huge plus. ... show more

  • OMG
Size: Twin 39" x 83" Style: No Sheet Cover
This futon has changed my life. I will admit I only allowed mines to air out for a day and a half before losing my mind and giving in to my selfish desires to lay on it. I did flap it like a towel over that day and a half hoping it would speed up the inflation process. It appeared to work somewhat. Now lets get to why I love this futon. I suffer from lower back pain and have heard over the years that futons are good for such things. I am thoroughly impressed by the comfort. It feels like im laying down on a firm bed and I can hardly feel the hard floor beneath me. However, if you do feel like feeling the floor beneath you in anyway could irritate you. I would go with the extra padding option amazon has available above. I would wager that extra padding could make a noticeble difference for even more comfort. Another reason why I bought this is because it will make moving out much easier as a college student. This futon is compact and when folded could fit in your trunk with relative ease. I cant imagine myself going back to using a regular full size bed now. Thank You Luxton I am a happy believer now. ... show more

  • Back/hip/leg pain - no more!
Size: Twin 39" x 83" Style: No Sheet Cover
I have a bad lower back that has been getting worse as I get older. It's now spreading pain down into my hips and legs all the way to my feet which ache nightly. I rarely get a good night's sleep. Quite by accident (my husband was snoring very loudly one night) I ended up on the floor and it was an eye-opener. I immediately started looking for floor "mattresses" and happened on this one. For the few days prior, I was sleeping on blankets folded onto the floor. This mattress is AMAZING and has changed my life. I sleep better, my back pain is much diminished, I feel like a new person. We ended up buying a second one and some plywood to run over our box springs and are sticking our $$$$ 18 inch mattress into storage and will be sleeping on these floor mattresses on our box springs from now on. I've done chiropractic, acupuncture, had shots, and a nerve ablation - the only thing that has provided any relief (until now) has been acupuncture. My only regret is not discovering how comfortable the floor could be many years ago. ... show more
