  • Reliable, Well-built, Smooth Dimming (LED, Hal, Incan), Highly Recommend!
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
Contrary to the reviews written in 2014, this is now an Apple HomeKit Certified connected home product *IF* paired with the Lutron Smart Bridge (version 2)! I purchased this item a few weeks ago, and thus far it has exceeded expectations. Here is a list of pros and cons that I have experienced. PRO: *Can be controlled with 4 Physical Buttons on Dimmer, Connected App, and 5 Button Remote * 600 watt Incandescent/Halogen Load or 150 watt LED load * Quite reliable, quick/responsive. * Smooth Dimming for entire range on LED, Incandescent, and Halogen * Impressive RF Wireless Range * No Neutral Wire required * Includes RF Pico Remote with memory that can be tied to other Caseta products as well. * Can be linked to sync with other Caseta products * Easy Setup * Secure Encryption if used with iOS devices and the Lutron Bridge * Solid Build Quality from a trusted name in lighting * Completely Silent does not hum, buzz, click, or otherwise emit any audible sound. * Can be controlled via remote or physical control panel if hub is not present/unavailable (you will just lack the capacity to control via a smart phone/tablet app) * If using version 2 Bridge - Apple HomeKit Certified meaning you can use Siri on your iOS device to control all or individual light’s power status and their brightness. NICE!! CON: * Uses Lutron’s Proprietary “Clear Connect” wireless control protocol * Power failure results in dimming set to Full ON not returning to previous state * No Memory Button on Wall Switch control panel, just on Pico Remote There are a few limitations to the dimmer, however I feel that benefits outweigh the shortcomings. I do recommend this system to anyone that already has a Smart Bridge from Lutron or an otherwise compatible hub from another company Thanks for taking the time to read my review! • On always sets to 100%
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
I really want to like these more, they worked great for our patio lighting where we only had the 2-cable setup (so no neutral wire for a more traditional smart-switch). The main complaint is that when you turn the lights on with any method other than one of their specialty remotes (using only the center button on the remote, not the on bottom either), it will turn on to 100% brightness. I think this is a bit silly given that if you can do it at all the system must have the information somewhere, why not change the behavior slightly to work in a way that is more convenient for everyone?! There is a way to modify the minimum brightness for the switch, but no way to change the maximum brightness or to set the default brightness when turned on either though the app, google home/alexa, or the switches themselves! ... show more

  • Absolutely Essential!
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
Installed six of these in my new home and couldn't be more happy. IMO, it's essential to have these working with the App.. You’ll need the Lutron smart bridge (ASIN B00XPW67ZM) to access these wirelessly. It was super simple to configure and love the fact you can set the precise light % within it (1%-99%).. You only have a few lighting options (i.e. High / Med-High / Low etc..) if using the physical switch. I wasn't using the app for the first month (while my place was being renovated) and had wondered if I made a costly mistake buying these over standard dimmers.. As soon as I hooked up the smart bridge, voila.. It transformed my place.. I’m able to easily (and I stress EASILY) create “scenes” within the app, making it a one-touch feature.. I.E. I have a “scene” where each light is set at 10%, another “scene” where all the lights are set at 25% and so forth.. One is set for “Off” and all one needs to do is open the app and you’ll see all your “Scenes” on the home page.. Love it!! • I justified the cost of these only being $30 more than standard dimmers… Not bad once you experience the functionality of being able to control your whole house lighting from wherever you may be (in the kitchen or even on vacation).. I had selected the sleek looking Lutron DVCL-153P initially and installed them in some locations but after experiencing the wireless capabilities in the Caseta Wireless, I returned them and swapped them out for these… It is pricey no-doubt but highly, highly recommended! Lastly, I found the remote controls (I mistakenly bought) will be absolutely pointless.. Save yourself $5 and don’t buy the Switch/Remote pack like I did.. I now have a box of them I will almost certainly never use.. Another thing I wish they made was a switch for high-wattage lights.. I have a chandelier that is close 1000K watts and had to settle for what is a far inferior looking switch and not wireless  ... show more

  • Does not communicate directly to Alexa via Zigbee protocol
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
I bought this so I could control a ceiling light in my media room via Amazon's Alexa voice control. I saw an answer in the Q&A that said it would work with Alexa, but alas, did not research it thoroughly enough. The switch only communicates via Lutron's proprietary protocol to a Lutron smart hub. This device cannot use an Echo Plus's built in hub without going through its own Lutron hub. This is fine if you have multiple Lutron switches and it makes sense to shell out for a Lutron hub. But this is the only such switch I had planned to have and I do not want to spend $100 on a hub and have yet another potentially hackable internet of things protocol running in my home. I waited too long to install and now cannot return it and am stuck with a $55 switch. Moral: do your research. But it can be hard when you are doing something new and complicated. I shelled out $160/hour for an electrician to help install the light, but despite advertising, he did not know much about smart hub protocols. Good with standard wiring, though. ... show more
