Description

Let Lutron's Maestro Occupancy Sensor switch turn the lights or fan on and off for you. It's a simple, easy, and low-cost way to save energy and add automation to your home. Install a Maestro Sensor and lights/fan turn on when you enter the room, and then turn off automatically after you leave. It features XCT sensing technology to detect fine motion, such as typing at a desk or reading a book, to ensure lights won't turn off inadvertently when you're still in the room. It also learns your preferred natural light level and keeps lights off with smart ambient light detection. Program your lights to turn off 1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes after you leave the room. Alternatively, you can set the motion sensor to vacancy-only mode to only turn off the lights when you leave a room, to meet Title 24 requirements. Equipped with ambient light detection, you can customize your sensor to detect daylight so lights don't turn on with enough natural light in your room. Keeping the sleek design of the Maestro family, Lutron sensors will match the decor of any room in your home. Install a sensor in your bedroom so lights aren't left on mistakenly or in the bathroom for your exhaust fan. This Maestro Sensor work with any bulb type, including CFLs and LEDs, or fans up to 3 amps. This switch can also be easily programmed to function as a vacancy (manual-on) sensor. Coordinating Claro Wall plates and Accessories sold separately.

  • Will work with mechanical 3-way ONLY with 2 switches, not 3 or more
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
I bought two of these switches, one for a hallway that has a switch on each end (the far end can see all of the short hallway, so a single occupancy sensor there works just fine) and one for a hallway with three switches - at the entrance to the hallway, and at each of the bedroom doors (yes, the builders of this house loved their four-way switches!) The first switch went in easy as can be, simply following the directions on the box. The only caveat is that in the remaining mechanical three-way switch, where it wants you to join the black "in" and the black "out", it does not provide a large wire nut to do so. I had a wire nut and so could just use my own. An alternate method would be to wire both the in and the out to the single screw if it does, as mine does, support two equal-sized wires going in. Either way, it wasn't a significant hiccup in installation. I spent more time trying to pop wires out of the simple insert-in-hole quick wire pieces of the switch I needed to remove than in wiring the new one in. On the second, I had thought I would be able to use the existing mechanical three-way and four-way switches, but after wiring everything together realized that half of the combinations would never work no matter how the two switches were wired together. So, long story short, if you have three or more switches on a single light load, you WILL need to replace ALL the other switches with "Maestro Companion" switches. One piece of good news that I found is that while the "dimmer" companion switches are inexplicably $10 cheaper both here on Amazon and at my local Home Depot, the "dimmer" companion switches work just fine with the non-dimming occupancy sensor master switch (this puppy). At some point I might replace this second sensor with a dimming sensor and move this sensor to a different room or hallway, and will still end up significantly ahead. With this wiring setup in place, I set the occupancy sensor to one-minute timeout, auto-on with daylight sensing, and everything works beautifully. The instructions for the companion sensors indicate that the "master" switch can be located in any of the existing switches - replacing the "mains end" 3-way, replacing the "load end" 3-way, or replacing any of the 4-way switches in between. I replaced one of the two three-way switches with the master switch and the companions went to the other end and the four-way. - Actual Review - I actually bought two of these, one for use in a standard two-switch hallway, and one for use in the above-described three-switch hallway. The two-switch installation was quick and simple, simply following the directions on the included instruction sheet. I did find that there was one fewer large wire nut in the packaging than was actually needed to alter the "standard switch" to perform to spec (all three large nuts were used in installing the new switch, and one more was needed to alter the old switch), but that is a minor oversight. Just plan ahead and have an extra large wire nut handy when installing (or jump the black traveler to main using a different approach). In both cases, once installed, setup was very simple. I wanted auto-on/auto-off with daylight sensing on both, and with high motion sensitivity. Before putting the face plate back on (but with power on), as per the instructions I held the "second" button (the little button to the right of the switch which is hidden when the face plate is installed) until the sensor light blinked three times, and they were set to have daylight sensing enabled. I then held the main button (the light switch button itself) until it blinked twice to set the auto-off timer to one minute (the shortest duration) so the hallway lights turn off soon after people have left the hallway. These are our fifth and sixth Lutron occupancy sensors (the other four were simple two-way switches for rooms), and they have all been very reliable for us. The switch itself is less garish than some occupancy sensors, and generally looks just fine in the multi-gang decora switch boxes that are throughout the house. Easy install; flawless operation; feature set which matches our needs. I can't take any stars away, so this gets five stars. ... show more

  • Great product
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
I have several occupancy sensors and this is and easy one to install and program. I like that the sensitivity is adjustable along with reset time. I have this in a mud room entry from the garage and have had zero issues.

  • Great product for the right application.
Color: White Size: 1 Pack
To start off, I'm not an electrician, just a DIY kind of person who would rather learn how to install something that to higher someone to charge you a lot of money for something so simple. This item worked out great in my situation because I was looking for occupancy switch for my laundry room. To give you an idea, the laundry room is approximately 6' x 6' and sits between the garage and the rest of the home. There is a light switch as you enter in from the garage and one on the opposite side of the wall (entrance from the house). I enter my home mainly through the garage door. Some days I have my hands full and it can be hard trying to find/turn on the switch in the laundry room. It's sometimes inconvenient to set the things down and turn on the light. I wanted to be able to open the door, set a foot into the room, have the lights on, and continue walking through. This thing was my solution. If you aren't knowledgeable on electrical wiring, I would recommend you to do what I did and read up on it. I borrowed a book from my local library that helped me figure out what kind of wiring I was dealing with. If you are curious about the book I used, it was Black & Decker's Complete Guide to Home Wiring. Armed with the book, I went ahead and looked at what kinda of wiring set up that was in my home. That information is very important to help select the right type of occupancy switch. I also found the video that amazon had posted on the product page very helpful. You can find the same video on the manufactures website. The video's will show you how to test for the hot lead and give you an idea what tools you need to complete this job. Now since I was knew what I needed to do and what I was about to get into, I was ready to get my project started. When I opened up the box, I checked out the instructions to see if there may have been some additional information that would been beneficial for me to know. I was surprised on how simple and detailed pictures in the instructions were. With the exception of trying to cram all the wired back into the box, installation was simple. The package provided a piece of jumper wire that you would use on the other switch that would allow you to turn on the light manually if your switch wasn't set to automatic. I didn't bother installing that one because I wasn't planning on using the other light switch. After I was done installing it, setting up the switch was fairly easy. There are two buttons on the switch to program it. There is the big switch and a small switch on the right side (if you are looking at the switch without the plate on). The instructions explain how to program it fairly well. You have three features you can adjusts. One is time selection, one is the sensitivity, and one is sensor mode. You don't have a lot to choose from the options. For the time selection, you can choose from 1, 5, 15 and 30 minutes. For the sensitivity, you have only low and high. For the sensor mode, you can set it to occupancy with automatically turns on and turns off when you enter the room. You can also set it to vacancy mode where you manually turn on the light and it will automatically turn off when it detects no motion for 1, 5, 15, or 30 minutes. The third setting for the sensor mode, is an ambient light setting. If natural light in the room is low when you enter, it will automatically turn on the light. If it detects enough light when you enter, then it won't turn on. A nice feature is if it doesn't turn on, you can press the button within 5 seconds of you walking into the room and it will "teach" the switch your preferred setting. When you walk into the room, you can hear a loud click, but that's just the relay switching the light on. It also doesn't come with it's own cover plate. Those are the only two complaints I can think of for this. If you are looking for something for like a living room or hallway, you may want to look for something else. There are occupancy switches that allows finer tuning of the ambient light, the amount of time, and the sensitivity. There are also switches out there that will let you adjust the sensors field of view. I've only had this installed for about a month now and it's been working great so far. I will update my review if the light switch craps out within a year. ... show more

  • MODERNIZE YOUR HOME!
Color: Gray Size: 1 Pack
3 of 4 units had scratched sensors so I removed a star, otherwise these work great! Also upgrade your wall covers to screwless plates - huge improvement in modernizing your home. These come in 2,5 and 6 amp. I ordered two 5 amp's for an exhaust fan and LED light bar in a powder room. These automatically & simultaneously turn on the exhaust fan and light when you enter. It shuts off after one minute once you leave. It can detect even a slight movement or reflection in a mirror. I have several in other powder rooms and closets - they've been working flawlessly for 1+ year. It's such a high-tech modern convience to walk in/out and never fumble for a switch again. There's also a manual override switch Going to add more for laundry and hallways. * Don't order the 'vacancy' model as those require manual turn-on and only shut off automatically. ... show more
