I really wanted the lavender-diffused topper, but it doesn't come in gel, so I decided to go with this Lucid topper instead. I took the advice of other reviewers who stated that it was too difficult to maneuver to the edge, to get out of the bed with the 3" topper, so I chose the 2" topper and bought it in full and king for all of our beds. In my opinion, the 2" is the perfect depth for any type of mattress. We've had them on for only about a month now, and we've recently had overnight guests to say they slept even better here than they do at home! These toppers are so comfortable and are quick to bounce back into shape. I had no issues with any type of smell with any of the ones I received, but I did spray them down with a disinfectant any way. Several other reviews showed photos of their toppers coming apart. I can completely see how that could happen if the topper is not protected by a cover. I didn't buy the cover, because I have good mattress covers already on all of our beds which worked perfectly with these gel toppers. I have back pain that typically wakes me up during the night, but since sleeping on this topper, I've had solid nights of restful sleep. I bought this topper as a barrier between me and the mattress because I mistakenly purchased a mattress that was later recalled because of fiberglass in the cover and I discovered I was highly allergic to it and my skin was becoming very irritated. I bought the 3" lavender-infused mattress pad, hoping to be able to induce relaxation and fall asleep faster. The foam is super comfy and we have slept so much better, but I have to rate 4/5 stars because the lavender smell is very chemical-y and can be a bit strong at times. If you like to sink into your bed this is perfect. Very soft. Can't really say that the cous-cous sized "cooling gel" peppered through it do anything for cooling. That aside it's a terrific topper period. To get a king size at that price makes it so much better. Definitely worth it.

This memory foam topper is excellent. Although, it's important to note that the lavender scent of the topper was SUPER strong after first being unpackaged. Seriously, I'm pretty sure your entire house/apartment will smell like you're cultivating a field's worth of lavender crops in one room within moments of opening the plastic. I loved the smell - it was delightful! - but it was overpowering for my husband to a point where he had to leave the house for a few hours as I opened windows and let the scent diffuse. I'll be honest, I was excited to get this topper onto our bed and cut the fluff time down to a few hours as a result (I believe it's supposed to air out flat for up to 24 hours). Despite this, the foam had fully expanded within that few hour time frame. After re-dressing the bed, I did what any sane person would do and threw myself onto it like a starfish. I sunk into the memory foam and seriously considered just going to sleep right then. I should reiterate the point made by other reviews: if you do not let this topper fluff up by airing it out as recommended, it will NOT reach the advertised 2" thickness. I guarantee this is why some reviewers are complaining about the lack of thickness - impatience. The topper WILL be almost flat within the first hour of opening. Keep in mind also, this is memory foam and not some other synthetic foam like the old school yellow egg crate. This means that the cells of the foam are very fine and the material is extremely susceptible to tearing if stressed. This is unavoidable if the topper isn't treated gently, so ignore the reviews complaining about tearing. Our bed sheet was loose and the topper started sliding towards the head of the bed; foolishly, I only loosened the bottom corners of the sheet and tried to pull the topper towards the foot of the bed. I tore the topper slightly where my thumbs were holding on, as the topper was stuck to the mattress. It still works despite this - but this is just an example of why you should exercise caution and know what you're buying. I will undoubtedly purchase this topper again once the current one has been worn out. I am deeply satisfied with its performance. ... show more

I love that the pad stays in place and doesn’t gather at the feet. It’s very comfy and didn’t make my bed get hot either, thank goodness. I highly recommend. Update is the longer I have it the more I love it. This is a must have.
