This was delivered to my apartment on the 21st. I immediately opened the box and set it to lofting in my living room. I gave it the full two days as recommended, then brought it to my room and put it on the bed. My mattress is memory foam and supposed to be able to hold double my weight firmly, and it can't, and I was feeling the box spring below, to tell you how bad it was. I was waking up with intense back pain and stiffness, and my foam incline pillow really wasn't helping either because the mattress was shifting me off it in my sleep. Enter the 2 inch mattress topper. It's soft. Really, luxuriously soft. My first night in it I was so worried it was going to be worse, and envelope me entirely in mattress and pad, because I thought it couldn't possibly stand up to my weight. I was wrong. I've been sleeping on it since the 24th, and it's now the 28th, and I am waking up in less pain, more refreshed and my back is less stiff. I do still wake up feeling really deep in my mattress, but short of getting a new mattress that's not going to change any time soon, but this pad makes it a comfortable, cozy experience rather than a hard, painful experience like I slept on my floor. If things change for the negative, I will update, but as someone with chronic fatigue and pain, any relief is a blessing, and this topper has been a blessing. This topper has completed my 'build the perfect mattress' project. I have a 6 year old 12" memory foam mattress that is pretty firm. It looks and feels pretty much as it did when it was new (I rotate it every 2-3 months), but my body was telling me I needed a little more cushioning on the top. Since these have been 'out of stock' for a while now, I took a chance on a 'used' version, which noted that the box had damage. I was a little worried when it arrived since about 1/4 of the box was gone, not just damaged. Luckily, there was no damage at all to the mattress or its wrappings. I got it all unpacked and put it on top of the bed to expand around noon, and by 7pm it was fully expanded to 2", top to bottom. There were no splits or cracks as some folks have documented, the one I received is in perfect condition. I put a padded mattress topper on top of it, and a 100% cotton mattress pad (Sleep Philosophy) on top of that, finished off with 100% linen sheets. This memory foam topper has been amazing! I was waking up with a lot of neck and back pain previously since my bed is about 10 years old, and this topper has fixed all of that. When I first took it out of the box and for the first couple of days of use, the topper did have a very factory smell to it. It was bearable as long as a window was open to allow for air circulation. Now that I’ve been using it for the past few months, the smell is completely gone and the memory foam works very well. I could be sitting or laying on it for hours, but when I get off the memory foam will puff back up into its original shape every time. My husband had to be in the hospital for an extended about of time due to some treatment. I stayed with him and slept on a pull-out couch. Although this was bigger than my pull out I used it every night for almost 20 days! It is a huge thing that helped me sleep so much better and make it through! Imagine my surprise when my small box showed up to my house. I thought, they really have gotten smart about packing. Figured I had really scored the deal. But it turns out, this is not an actual mattress. It apparently sits on top of a mattress. Which I find ironic, it’s like putting a tiny mattress on a huge mattress. People who put hollandaise sauce on over easy eggs, would probably think this makes sense. I rolled myself up in it. And I lay down. That was not comfortable. It’s itchy. Smells like teens tennis shoes. That is a free feature. It does not work if you put it between the mattress and box spring. But there are no instructions. So how would you know if you don’t try?
