  • Loxjie A30 vs SMSL A100
I bought both a Loxjie A30 and SMSL A100 as they both featured the Infineon chip and had usb audio. There's not many amps that have both these features. The Loxjie A30 despite having the same chip and numerous more features is more efficient. It uses 1.5 watts idle and 2 watts during desktop listening. The a100 uses 2 watts idle, and 5 watts during use. The A100 has a blue light that never turns off. The loxjie can go completely dark. The A100 does have a a few pros over the Loxjie. - buit in power supply (Loxjie's external supply is surpringly large for the wattage) - easier to change inputs on the device - easier (when placed below your desk) to see/change volume on the device - When unplugging/switching usbs the Loxjie will slightly buzz the speakers. The A100 is silent Besides that the Loxjie has more advertised features that you pay for. Remote, color screen, optical in, equalizer, metal body, higher quality bluetooth, & higher quality DAC (though my ears couldn't tell the difference). The Loxjie also has a headphone jack- though from my research audiophiles say is almost useless. I tested it and it worked fine with my HD6XXs, though I didn't notice any sound improvement over plugging in my headphones into the computer, and I prefer the direct connection. I don't love the usability of the Loxjie and its wheel controls. I think it's mostly designed around the remote which for me is another thing to keep track of and uncessary for desktop use. On the A100 when using USB audio, if you software mute your computer or accidently turn your volume down to 0, it triggers the physical mute on the device. If you turn your volume back up on your computer, it doesn't un-mute. In order to get back sound you have to press the mute button on the device TWICE, and it takes a few seconds. Very annoying and finicky. The loxjie does not have this issue, it just works as you would expect. If it weren't the the mute issue I would have kept the A100 for half the price. ... show more

  • Excellent bang-for-the buck all-in-one amp
Pros; integrated DAC, clear sound from Muse electronic volume control, has coax, optical, USB and BT inputs, cost, all-in-one size. Cons: Sound is a bit shouty so speaker matching critical. Good match for Triangle BR02, my guess is it would be a bad match for the cheap/good Sony speakers. Coax input on my system sounds better than USB from my computer. Could not get this performance at this price just a few years ago! Edit: After several weeks of break-in, the shouty quality has greatly decreased and the treble has smoothed out. Changing to 5 stars. I think the synergy between the ESS DAC, the NWJ electronic volume control and the infineon chip provides a very high sound quality for the money, Construction seems high quality as well, which makes an excellent combo. I finally have an office system that is both compact, reasonable cost and is of sufficiently high quality to satisfy my picky ears. Did not try the analog RCA inputs - some people say it has hiss. Dont plan on using the analog inputs Liked it so much, I bought another one. ... show more

  • Excellent amp but the seller was not great
This amp sounds amazing with my Kef Q100 speakers and a 10” Dayton sub. I use both the USB input for my Windows PC and Bluetooth for my work Mac and IPhone. I love that you can set it so the LED display auto turns off while it is powered on and in use. I am not a big fan of electronic lights. Compared to the SMSL AD18 it replaced, the sound quality is noticeably better. The bass is smoother. I can drive it to higher volumes without it sounding harsh. I tried my Sennheiser HD300 pro headphones and they didn’t sound great when the volume was quiet. They were lacking a bit of bass which they usually have a bit too much of. Cranking the volume made them sound much better but will hurt my ears after a while. It is an amazing amp for the price. Highly recommended. One star off for the seller who didn’t put it in a box when they shipped it. They just slapped a label on the amp box and shipped it. The box was very beat up when I received it. Removing the shipping label tore the box further. I like to keep the boxes for all my electronics. The seller put an SMSL product card in the box. No idea why when this is a Loxjie amp. The amp had fingerprints on it and no protective film over the display. Was it used or a return rather than new? I don’t know but decided to keep it anyway because it works flawlessly and I like it so much. ... show more

  • Very pleased with purchase.
Simple and purely functional for my needs. I'm using this for my TV setup, and occasional music streaming. I have some vintage speakers and sub connected to it and was able to dial the sub way down from my previous amp. I feed the audio from my Samsung TV to the A30 via an optical connection. I did adjust the delay on the TV as my Fire TV needed a bit to line up the audio with the video. Probably something to do with the optical connection as I had not run into this before. I found this little remote: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08W2GY92D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to use with my Fire TV and turn the power on and off for my TV, and adjust the volume on the A30. This makes the setup pretty much ideal for me. Yes, I leave the A30 on at all times, it draws almost no power. Sound quality is great, my old Klipsch speakers and sub really sing with this amp and I have PLENTY of volume!! The speakers I am using are VERY efficient and this amp loves them. Update - 3-17-2023 : Still use this little guy pretty much every day. Has not given me any troubles at all. It outlasted my subwoofer that I'm now hunting for a replacement. Thought I'd look around and see if there was any neat new units that I might replace this unit with. But in a quick search I'm happy to see this is a still a very solid choice for this application. There are some interesting options out there, but sadly many lack a remote control. Funny thing is when I first got this unit it I simply sat it out on the top of the TV cabinet. I had plans to place it inside the cabinet, but I actually like the little guys looks so I keep him right there on the top of the cabinet. It never gets hot, I never turn it off, and never have run out of volume. It still blows me away that I can have such a little amp for all of my needs. One of these days I'll grab another for the garage. ... show more

  • Nice product for the price if you like disposable amps that only last a year
I purchased this amplifier so I could connect it to my whole house audio system through the Aux RCA connections and to my TV through the optical port. This amp was one of the few I could find that had both and also a sub-woofer output. It is very reasonably priced, so it looked like the perfect solution. As stated, one of the reasons I bought it was because it had an optical input that I was intending to use to connect the TV however, I could not get the optical input to work. All I got was an annoying static-y squeal. Online I have seen that others have had this same issue. Since I did not test this on any other optical devices, I'm not sure if it is a compatibility issue with the TV or if the optical input is just not working properly. Luckily, the TV also had Bluetooth capability, so I was able to get the amp working for my application and I did not have to return it. The amp is driving a pair of Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000 speakers and a ProSub 1000 subwoofer. Although I would have preferred an optical connection, the Bluetooth seems to be working well and I am very happy with the performance of the amp. Time will tell if it holds up. UPDATE: Now that I have had this amp for almost two years, I am reducing it to one star. After about a year, the LCD display started to go bad. Right now only about half of the display is visible. Recently, one channel on the RCA inputs seems to have shorted out. Whenever I connect anything to the left channel RCA input, it the volume of everything is reduced to almost zero. I know this was not an expensive amp, but I still don't think a $200 amplifier should be disposable after less than two years. ... show more

  • Overall, not a bad amp, but it is harsh in the highs and caused listening fatigue
I wanted to like this little amp. It fits a lot in a small package making it ideal for desktop use. However, the highs were a bit harsh/shrill, which I was able to accommodate for using the built in tone controls. Unfortunately, even with the small tweaks, this amp still led to listening fatigue not previously experienced with my previous amp. Back to my previous amp (Musical Paradise MP-301) for now while I search for a replacement. This amp does offer a ton of value with USB input as well as Aux input, tone controls, bluetooth, and subwoofer out. I ran mine via USB out from my MacBook Pro and powered a pair of Kef Q150 or Tekton Designs 4.5 in near field setup. For low frequencies, I ran an Onix Rocket ULW10 subwoofer via the sub out. Sound was pretty neutral and clean, but shrill especially in the upper frequencies. Previous setup was an ODAC feeding Musical Paradise MP-301 SET amp and the same Kef Q150 or Tekton Designs 4.5 full range single driver speakers. With this amp, I can listen for hours, not so with the Loxjie. I'm still giving 3 stars as overall it's not a bad amp, and it tests well if you check out audio science forums. If I wasn't experiencing listening fatigue I'd be keeping this amp, but instead I'm returning it. PS Audio has some interesting information on class D amps and listening fatigue. They have invested quite a bit into the output filters of their class D amps to combat this issue. It's worth looking into if you experience listening fatigue like I have. ... show more

  • Great sound. 2.1 Soundbar Replacement option. No high pass filter on L&R when using a subwoofer.
I paired with Elac Debut Reference DBR62. I think they sound better than with my Denon S760H AVR from my home theater setup. I normally run this without a subwoofer, but I tried with my SVS PB1000. It works well, and the main volume also controls subwoofer volume. However, I noticed that the Left and Right channels still play low bass, even after setting the low pass filter to 80 Hz for the subwoofer. I guess there is no high pass filter for the main channels. I tried USB, optical, and Bluetooth inputs. I have not tried with headphone out or with analog inputs. Also note that the system does not go into sleep, even after hours of no use. I doubt it draws much current at idle, though. My Sofabaton U1 universal remote doesn't have Loxjie devices in their database. I was able to use the provided remote to get it to learn IR codes, though. The problem was the arrow keys which send the same code repeatedly when you hold them down. The universal remote learned 2 presses instead of 1, which is a problem for menus. Still, the optical input, IR remote, and a compact size mean you could use this as a 2.0 or 2.1 soundbar replacement, and volume control will work on a universal remote. ... show more

  • Beats Emotiva and Aiyiama
Tested loxjie A30 against Emotiva TA1 integrated Amp and aiyima D03. Tested with Kef Q150, Focal Chora, Klipche rp-150, Emotiva B1+ Emotiva had a little more power and had a lot better build. Sounded good but a slight bit dry (missing bass) might being a little picky because it still sounded good, has the best Subwoofer control because of high pass and low pass filters, but the Bluetooth has no range outside of the room you are in sometimes not even in the same room. usb connection you need to download a program on your computer to use it. Aiyima D03 build was mediocre not pretty but not ugly. It sounded good, loxjie just sounded better to my ears. Loxjie sounded more 3D with detail, has the best remote. Bluetooth works well, build is great for the price. Sounds great but when you pushed to the max it has some distortion, still listenable. I have had two of them and will be ordering a third! I returned the Aiyima and the Emotiva sadly I really wanted to like the Emotiva more but the connectivity was not good enough and for the price, loxjie was better in to many ways. ... show more
