Bought for craft fair, people loved it and it was fun. However, quality left a lot to be desired. The flap on the front slipped and stuck pretty quick and finally just fell out. It was clumsy to fix and the plastic felt cheap. At the end of the event we ended up returning due to quality.

I purchased this gumball machine as a gift. The recipient was extremely pleased with it. We were both surprized at how much real metal was used in this clone of a classic American gumball machine. The coin and dispensing mechanism appear to be plated cast metal, just like it should. The body of the machine is plastic. The plated bottom is plastic. The bowl is plastic. The top feels like plastic, but could be metal. The keyway on top is metal, and there are metal parts attached to the plastic parts for the treat dispenser on the inside. For the price, this seems to be reasonable. This came out of the box fully assembled. There were no instructions, so the video in the description was essential to figure out that after putting in the key, you basically unscrew the lid. RIghty tighty lefty loosey. The real sneaky thing is accessing the coin storage. You have to separate the entire body of the machine from the bottom. There is no coin bin. They just fill the body of the machine so depending on how full of coins it is, you could have a mess on your hands when you open it. This machine looks like it will hold A LOT of treats. I didn't measure, but it looks like it should easily handle treats no bigger than one (1) inch. Possibly a bit bigger, but not much. The dispensing wheel is somewhat open to the bowl, so be careful with small items like jelly beans. They can slip past the guard and get dispensed for free, or at worst, drain most of the contents. This machine looks like it was specifically built for gumballs, round hard candies, or capsules, but you could probably load it with all sorts of things. It is simple, with lots of plastic and either plated metal parts or stainless parts, so you could probably just wash this whole thing out if your treats get ... iffy. It does use US quarters, but it will also take slugs and some tokens. Like I said, this is a simple machine. There does not seem to be any precision machining in the coin mechanism. Cast and stamped parts. I would not say that this is a high-security appliance. Mostly a novelty or for casual use, but you do you. It functioned perfectly with a pound of marble-sized jawbreakers. I am happy with this purchase, both for its ability to deliver on expectations and to make a great gift.

I got this to fill for all of the neighborhood kids that hang out at my house. (I give them enough free food that I don’t mind having them pay a whole 25¢ for a gumball, and I’ll put the money right back into their “Snack Shack”). It’s a great size and the quality seems pretty okay. The only thing I don’t like is that the knob is hard to turn. Just as the quarter gets past the opening it gets stuck. I’m not sure if that’s just mine or a design flaw. Hopefully over time it will loosen up a bit.
